Colorado: Coors Field
“Jago! Jago!”
Orchid’s voice reverberated throughout the empty baseball stadium, while she raced down an aisle. “Jago! Are you here?! Ja-go!”
Orchid stopped. The only voice responding to her was her own, saying the exact same thing. She looked around.
“Fulgore-X! Come out you bastard!” Still nothing.
Orchid sighed. “They’re not here.” She said, deflated. She ran her fingers nervously through her hair, and straightened herself as the teleportation sequence initiated and took her away.

Beneath Ultratech: The Dungeon
“Yargh!” Jago cried, as he rushed towards Gargos. The demon only blinked as Jago approached. Upon getting there, Jago began throwing rapid fierce punches at Gargos. Gargos blocked them all with ease. He caught one of Jago’s fists as it sailed towards his chest. Using his massive hands, he attempted to crush the Tibetan warrior’s hands. Jago wailed in pain.
Fulgore-X uncloaked in between Gargos and Jago. He hit Gargos with a swift roundhouse kick, breaking the hold on Jago. Jago backed off. Fulgore-X tried another roundhouse kick, but Gargos blocked it. Fulgore-X spun around and launched a punch offensive, without the claws. Gargos timed the attacks, and then caught both of Fulgore-X’s hands by the wrists; similar to the way he grabbed Jago’s. With very little effort, Gargos threw his hands up, tossing Fulgore-X into the air. The cyborg went up about fifty meters, and then started to fall downwards. He was only five meters away from the ground when he teleported away in mid air.
Gargos frowned, as Jago lunged at him from behind. Gargos sidestepped it, leaving Jago off-balance. Gargos swung a slow, powerful sidekick into Jago’s back. Jago cringed backwards, nearly dropping his sword. He straightened himself just in time to avoid an overhead fist smash. Fulgore-X reappeared to the right of Gargos, this time with claws unsheathed. He took a swinging slash at Gargos, but the demon leaped up into the air. Gargos pointed his right hand down and shot a red energy beam at Fulgore-X. The cyborg stood still, seemingly accepting his fate, but only a foot before the beam reached him, the energy beam hit a plasma shield. The dome glowed blue around Fulgore-X, as the energy beam was reflected right back at Gargos. Gargos dropped back down to the ground as the energy beam sailed over his head.
Jago came in, attempting an overhead slash at Gargos. The demon caught the blade with his two open hands. Gargos opened his mouth and shot another red energy beam, this time at Jago. Jago barely managed to duck it, and when he picked his head up, he looked quite frayed. Gargos buried a foot into Jago’s stomach, causing him to stumble backwards. Gargos dashed in and hit Jago with an open palm punch, further knocking him back.
Fulgore-X kicked Gargos in the back. Rather than display pain, Gargos displayed annoyance. He spun around sharply to confront Fulgore-X, but the cyborg wasn’t there. Gargos spun back around to meet the cyborg’s foot striking him firmly upside the head. Gargos took one step back. Fulgore-X swung his claw at Gargos, but the demon caught it, and yanked down on it, sharply tugging Fulgore-X’s arm. The cyborg jerked violently. Gargos spun around, still holding the arm, and swung Fulgore-X over his head and down towards the ground. Fulgore-X managed to teleport away before impact.
Jago kicked Gargos in the back of his right knee. The demon didn’t move. Jago took a sword slash at Gargos, which induced a hop step forwards from the demon. Jago rushed in, rolling under Gargos’s massive legs, then popping up in front of him. He threw a set of forward kicks, all of which were blocked. Jago began swinging his sword from left to right, back, and overhead, all of which were dodged. Suddenly, Gargos connected with a fierce punch in Jago’s stomach. The Tibetan warrior doubled over, groaning. Gargos grabbed Jago around the waist with his right hand. Jago winced in pain. Gargos looked at him condescendingly for a few moments, then flung him towards the chasm of the Dungeon that was over to the right. Jago actually hit the ground a few feet before the edge, but his momentum carried him past the edge and over, falling down into the tremendous pit.
Or at least, he would have. But Jago’s fall was cut short only two feet into it. It felt as if the back of his collar had snagged something. Jago was just about to thank his luck when he looked up to see exactly what had snagged him.
Fulgore-X.
The cyborg floated over the pit, holding the back of Jago’s collar in his right hand. Jago was thoroughly stunned to see himself in Fulgore-X’s hands, although he expected the cyborg to drop him at any moment. Instead, Fulgore-X tossed Jago back onto the Dungeon floor, and teleported away.
Fulgore-X reappeared in mid air, in front of Gargos. Placing both hands forward, he began firing multiple plasma storm shots at Gargos. Gargos held up his left wing and covered himself in it. The plasma storms exploded on contact with the wing, not having any effect on Gargos. Fulgore-X descended to the ground, and fired an eye laser at Gargos; this had no effect either. Gargos unshielded himself. Fulgore-X charged at Gargos; the demon intercepted the approaching cyborg with a standing sidekick to the head. Fulgore-X contorted backwards, but did not fall. Fulgore-X then threw a flurry of punches at Gargos that were all blocked. The frustrated cyborg then went into a procession of sidekicks with his right leg, one after another. Each was, in turn, was blocked easily. The demon then caught Fulgore-X’s right leg, and used the opportunity to repeatedly punch Fulgore-X in the face with right fierce punches. When Gargos let go of the leg and stopped punching, Fulgore-X stumbled backwards, stunned. Gargos dashed at the cyborg, catching him in the palm of his left hand. Gargos continued deeper into the Dungeon, with Fulgore-X in his hand. Eventually, Gargos came to a stop and projected his arm forward, throwing Fulgore-X into a stone pillar that was only three meters away. The cyborg slammed into it, back first, where he stayed as the stone crumbled under him. Gargos took a swing at Fulgore-X, but missed as Fulgore-X involuntarily slid down the pillar, landing on both knees. Gargos spun on his right heel and nailed the cyborg with his left shin, further pushing Fulgore-X into the pillar. Gargos took a step back, to admire his work, when something behind him caught his eye.
Beneath Ultratech: The Dungeon
The teleport sequence finished, and Orchid found herself in the Dungeon, standing near the doorway to the stairs that lead up to the Ultratech Basement.
“Great.” Orchid thought. “I’m back in Ultratech. I must have been to fifty different locations around this world already and still nothing.”
Orchid was just about to call out Jago’s name, when she heard something coming from deeper down inside the Dungeon, and to the right. She carefully advanced, trying not to make her presence heard. Finally, she came upon the source of the noise.
Fulgore-X was attacking Gargos, quite unsuccessfully. Jago stood behind Gargos, gripping his sword, and apparently waiting for an opportunity.
Orchid was a bit stunned to witness this, but quickly regained control of herself, enough to press the top button on her KI logo pin, stopping the teleportation sequence.
Ultratech Corporation: Control Room
“There!” Thunder cried out. “She’s stopped the sequence!” He nearly leapt out of his chair, as he was falling asleep where he sat at the main terminal.
“Where?” Glacius said quickly. He was leaning up against a computer terminal over to the right, but upon hearing Thunder’s announcement, he jumped to attention. Tusk glanced over in Thunder’s general direction.
Thunder pressed a few buttons. “Damn! They’re in the Dungeon! All that time...”
“Fine, let’s go!” Glacius exclaimed.
“OK...initiating teleport sequence for three...”
“Three?” Kim Wu said, suspiciously.
“No!” Glacius said flatly. “You’re not going! You haven’t recovered from your fight with Fulgore-X!”
“Says who?” Kim retorted.
“Says Orchid, says Thunder, and says me. You have to stay here.”
Kim pouted. “This is not fair at all!”
“What the...damn!” Thunder exclaimed.
“What?” Glacius asked.
Thunder slammed the computer terminal in frustration. “Damn it! The computer is still on a random setting. I can’t choose our destination – if we go, there’s no telling where we’ll end up! I can fix it, but it’ll take some time.”
“Forget it, we’ll go there on foot.” Glacius said, as he started out the door. Thunder got up to follow, but then sunk back into the chair in disappointment.
“Damn damn damn!” He exclaimed. “We can’t get there on foot. There are only two ways to get to the Dungeon, both are closed off for repairs, back when Fulgore-X blew away all those sections when he fought.” Thunder trailed off.
Glacius let out an exasperated sigh. “Is there any way for us to get to the Dungeon?”
Thunder shook his head. “No, but I’ll keep working on it. I can disable the teleport randomizer, but that will take a little time. Until then, Orchid and Jago are on their own.”
The Dungeon
Orchid watched from behind a pillar as Gargos slammed Fulgore-X into another pillar. She began timing the fight, waiting for an opportunity to jump in. She saw Jago, carefully advancing on Gargos as the demon hit Fulgore-X with a shin.
“Gotta go now!” Orchid thought.
But she couldn’t.
No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t move from behind the pillar. “Damn it, no, damn no! Not now, now of all times! Please!” She thought. “Why am I freezing up…why can’t I move…again…no!”
Jago rushed at Gargos with a side swing from his blade, but Gargos rocketed up just in time to avoid it. Jago’s sword hit the pillar about a meter above Fulgore-X’s head. Jago glanced up, but Gargos was nowhere to be seen.
Cardinal rules of fighting state that whenever your opponent is no longer in your sight, move. And that’s exactly what Jago did; he moved. Jago took a giant hop step backwards, just in time, as Gargos came crashing down with both feet, where Jago’s head would have been. Gargos hit the ground with a thud, shaking the stone. Jago continued to back off, apprehensively pointing his sword towards Gargos. Gargos began to slowly pursue.
Orchid finally gave up on moving. She rested against the back of the pillar. She began searching her head for reasons why she couldn’t make herself jump into the fight. Finally, she found one.
“If I let Fulgore-X and Gargos fight, if we’re lucky, they’ll destroy each other. But the thing is, how do I get Jago out of there before he gets destroyed too?”
Orchid carefully eyed the fight. Jago had just avoided a stomp attempt from Gargos. “If he gets close enough...I’ll pull Jago aside...let Gargos and Fulgore-X have it out, then we’ll jump back in and take out the victor. By then, Thunder and the others should be here as well. By God, this can work after all!”
Orchid flashed a slight smile for half a second, then she went back to her observing.
Jago continued to back away from the advancing Gargos.
“You hold that thing as if you actually intended to use it.” Gargos taunted, referring to Jago’s sword.
Jago said nothing in response. He stopped backing away. Gargos laughed at first, then suddenly lunged at Jago. Jago flipped over the demon as he sailed by. As Jago landed, he was surprised to see Fulgore-X standing next to him. The cyborg held his right side with his left hand, and he stood somewhat hunched over. Plasma leaked down from the top of his head.
“Get clear.” Fulgore-X said flatly. Jago took a few dash steps backwards.
Gargos stopped his forward momentum, and turned around. He looked as surprised as Jago to see Fulgore-X standing.
Fulgore-X held up his first and middle fingers on his right hand. He raised them, and rested the fingertips on his forehead.
Gargos chuckled. “This should be worth a laugh.” He snorted.
Fulgore-X narrowed his eyes. “Laugh this...PLASMA FLARE!” Fulgore-X threw his hand forward, and a flash of light shot from his two fingers to Gargos. Instantly, the area around Gargos erupted in blue light, which quickly expanded, penetrating deeply into the dark dungeon. Jago shielded his eyes.
When the light retreated, there was a black smoke cloud rising from the spot where Gargos once stood. Fulgore-X and Jago stared nervously at the smoke for a few tense moments.
Suddenly, Gargos emerged from the smoke, flying at a high speed with his right shoulder set forward. With Fulgore-X off-guard, Gargos hit the cyborg with his powerful shoulder dash. Fulgore-X was jerked forcefully backwards. Gargos stopped amazingly next to Jago. He turned his head to the stunned warrior. In a swift motion, Gargos backhanded Jago. Jago hit the ground hard.
Gargos let Jago get up. As soon as he was standing, the demon punched him repeatedly in the head with his tremendous fists. Jago’s head bobbed back and forth like a punching bag. When Gargos let up, Jago stood very shakily, almost unconscious. Gargos pulled his right arm back and hit Jago with an open fisted uppercut from his right arm. Jago sailed up at least four meters. Gargos timed it carefully, and as Jago fell in front of him, the demon struck him with a violent fierce punch. Jago sailed backwards, rotating and rolling over uncontrollably in the air. He hit the ground awkwardly and skidded on his side for a few meters, before hitting a pillar sharply with his back. After that, Jago was motionless.
The sight of her brother getting slammed into a pillar evoked an involuntary response from Orchid. She leapt from her hiding place, over to the side of her brother.
“Jago...Jago!” She called softly. She looked down at him; he was still breathing, still alive. Blood trickled down from the corner of his mouth. “Please...wake up...please...” Orchid said, fighting tears.
Luckily for Orchid, Gargos didn’t notice her because he was being distracted. Right after Jago hit the pillar, Gargos felt a disturbance in the air behind him. He turned around to see Fulgore-X flying at him, with his left fist and claw extended, at a high velocity. Gargos ducked it, and as Fulgore-X passed overhead, he caught the cyborg’s ankles, then quickly stood. Fulgore-X’s forward momentum was cut off sharply, and he stopped with a horrible jerk.
Gargos smiled, holding the cyborg’s ankles while Fulgore-X himself was draped across the demon’s back. The cyborg groaned in pain. Without warning, Gargos threw himself forward and downward, bringing Fulgore-X up, and then violently down. With an immeasurable force, Gargos slammed Fulgore-X into the stone floor using an overhead motion. The cyborg screamed upon impact, as the stone beneath him buckled and shot outwards and upwards.
Fulgore-X lay pathetically about four inches deep into the stone. His head and arms had been raised very slightly, but they fell down limply. His eyes went from faint red, to completely white. Gargos stood over him, condescendingly.
“The mighty Fulgore-X.” He said, sarcastically. Then, purely for the hell of it, Gargos raised his left foot and brought it crashing down into Fulgore-X’s chest, further pushing him down into the stone. Gargos smiled. “‘Exerted monstrous strength in lifting your foot, and let gravity take it’s course in crushing an opponent who exhibited the challenge of a tin can.’ Indeed I did, my friend. What a prophet you are.” Gargos burst out into monstrous laughter. “‘The challenge of a tin can.’“ He said, in between laughs.
Gargos went over to the edge of the pit. He stared down, wiping the smile off his face. “It was here, over 2000 years ago, that I took most of my power and hid it here, as I could sense that I was about to be imprisoned in that damn seal again. I hid it until a time when I really would need it. Had my fight with Eyedol continued, I would have had to summon up this power. Now, with Earth’s greatest warriors dead and unconscious at my feet, it’s really not necessary.” Gargos continued to stare down at the pit. “But what the hell - I want it anyway!”
Gargos raised his head and lifted his arms. He began to chant. “Umbaya bak’chu dimby yaa...oh sawee fili pa...f’amkosa dpenii k’dweede cha…oh say’aa ah...” Deep down, below in the pit, there was a deep rumbling. A faint red light began seeping up out of the darkness, towards the edge.
“Cha’day’say’ee...umbaya bak’to...ariweede sepa! Sim ari’banyou! F’wede’sa dimby sawee watu homi di’aa! Come to me!”
A steady stream of red power ran up the edge of the pit, flowing directly into Gargos. The demon yelled in pleasure, as his eyes glowed an intense yellow. His entire body was covered in red energy, which seemed to seep into him. Eventually, no more red energy came up the edge, and Gargos stopped glowing.
“Raaaaahhhhhh!” Gargos screamed. He threw his left arm forward, firing a massive energy beam forward. This beam was roughly as wide as a small room. The beam traveled across the pit, hitting the wall on the other side, and apparently obliterating it in a blaze of sparks, red light, and fire. Gargos smiled again. “Not bad...not bad at all. Could’ve been much better though. Oh well, I’ve got all the time in the world to work on it. Speaking of which, I have a world to claim.”
Gargos spun around, and took another look at Fulgore-X, who was still motionless in the stone. Gargos also looked at Jago, who was lifelessly propped up against the pillar he hit.
Thanks to the angle Gargos viewed Jago at, there was another pillar partially shielding Jago’s right side from Gargos’s line of sight. Luckily, Orchid just happened to be on the right side of Jago.
Gargos laughed. “Now now you two; don’t go away! I still have to perform the ritual ceremony. I’m going to go stop a little missile launch, then I’ll be back...”
With as much vigor in his step as a happy five year old, Gargos started to leave the Dungeon.
For one of the few times in her life, Orchid experienced panic.
She was on her knees, besides her brother Jago. Jago had been badly beaten, and wasn’t conscious.
Somewhere deeper into the dungeon, was Fulgore-X. All Orchid knew was that he’d been slammed into the stone floor, and hadn’t moved since. He could possibly be dead. While this was something Orchid had been hoping for, ever since she learned of his existence, it wasn’t convenient for him to die now.
Moving towards the Dungeon exit was the perpetrator of the beatings, Gargos. Having just summoned some unknown power, which Orchid knew to be quite massive, he was probably on his way to claim the world he thinks he now deserved.
By now, Chief Thunder, Glacius, and Tusk should have teleported or even walked here to provide support, but they were nowhere to be found. Orchid could only wonder where they were or what had happened to them.
Orchid was thoroughly confused as to what to do. With nothing else coming to mind, she continued to try to wake her brother, who looked as if he might be slowly coming around.
Gargos felt proud of himself. Beating Jago was accomplishment enough, but it was especially sweet to take down Fulgore-X. Later on, after the ritual, Gargos would have to decapitate the cyborg to mount his head atop his throne.
Suddenly, Gargos stopped dead in his tracks. There was a localized concentration of energy in the space directly ahead of him. In addition, air flowed irregularly about a millimeter away from his forehead.
“So...you’re not as dead as you appeared to be.” Gargos said calmly.
Fulgore-X uncloaked in front of Gargos. He was holding his right arm out, with the claw unsheathed, stopping only one millimeter away from Gargos’s forehead. One of the wires that ran from his neck had snapped, and it leaked blue plasma. His ponytail was frayed, and the hair was carelessly draped over the left side of his face. The left arm on his jumpsuit was ripped, with blue plasma leaking down from it.
Gargos and Fulgore-X stared at each other for what seemed like forever, with Fulgore-X’s claw still only protons away from Gargos’s forehead.
Gargos quickly took a giant hop step backwards. At the exact same time, Fulgore-X lunged forward with his claw. Gargos barely managed to avoid the stab attempt.
Fulgore-X began throwing sets of extremely fast jab punches and short kicks at Gargos, all of which were being blocked...
“Jago! Wake up damn you!” Orchid said hurriedly. Jago groaned and moved his head. Orchid continued to shake him and talk into his ear. Finally, Jago opened his eyes.
“Wha...what happn’d...?” Jago asked sluggishly.
“Gargos opened up a can of beat down on you.” Orchid said flatly.
“Gargos? Where?” Jago took a few confused looks around. “Oh! The Dungeon...the fight! I gotta go back...” Jago started to get up, but Orchid pinned him to the pillar.
“You must be nuts. You shouldn’t be anywhere but a hospital bed. Unfortunately, I don’t quite know where the ER wing of this place is, so here’ll have to do.”
Jago resisted her. “No…I gotta fight…if we don’t stop Gargos here.....there’ll be nothing left anywhere…please let me up…I’ll be fine…”
Orchid pouted. “How am I supposed to let my badly beaten brother back into a fight where he’ll get knocked around some more?”
“I’ll be fine. Hey; I survived two cyborgs before this, one crazed demon should be nothing.”
“Then I’m going too.” Orchid said, flatly.
“No!” Jago insisted. “I can’t let you go!”
“Oh..so half dead baby brother can go back in, but the older sister can’t jump in? Your logic is quite confusing.”
Jago saw that Orchid was going to be difficult about this. He had to think up a strategy and quick. “That’s not what I mean.” Jago stood. “I mean, I’m sure Fulgore-X and I will be able to take down Gargos, but then there’ll still be the issue of the cyborg. I won’t be able to put up much of a fight; so that’s where you come in. If you’re fresh, and Fulgore-X is half as damaged as I’m feeling, you should be able to take him out. Besides, if you stay here, you’ll have the element of surprise behind you.”
“But...” Orchid started to protest.
“Please sis...this is the best plan.” Jago lied.
Orchid pouted again. “Fine. I’ll stay here until Gargos is destroyed. But if it looks like you’re in real danger before then, I’ll be in that fight so fast...”
“I don’t doubt it. But don’t worry; I won’t be.”
Jago grabbed his sword and headed back into the fight.
Ultratech Corporation: Control Room
“Isn’t there anything we can do?” Glacius asked, while nervously pacing the length of the room. Thunder shook his head as an answer.
“Can’t we use one of the Ultratech Satellites to at least get video feed of the fight?” Glacius continued.
“From underground? I don’t think so.” Thunder said in response.
“Err. You’re right. What about communications?”
“With what?”
“Right again. Argh! It’s so frustrating to be here helpless to do anything!”
Thunder rubbed his eyes. “I know how you feel. But it’s all we can do right now. I think I can disable the teleportation randomizer. It’ll take time though...which’ll go a lot faster with less distractions...”
Glacius got the hint. He remained silent for a full five minutes, before realizing something.
“Hey! Do you remember those thingies...y’know, those devices Ultratech implanted in us during KI7 so that our vital signs could be monitored?”
“Mm-hmm.” Thunder responded.
“Don’t Orchid and Jago still have them? And isn’t Fulgore-X equipped with some sort of device that allows his systems to be monitored? Can’t we access those? At least we’d have some small idea about what’s going on.”
Thunder continued tapping buttons on the computer terminal. After a few moments, he said “yeah, it’s still here. I’m displaying the stats on monitors four, five, and six as I’m using the main one.”
Glacius went over to the monitors. On monitor four was Orchid’s vital signs. Five was Jago’s; six was Fulgore-X’s. Glacius studied them intently.
“Hmm...Orchid seems to be doing fine…but Jago and Fulgore-X look really drained…one of them will probably be going down soon.”
The Dungeon
Jago flew backwards quickly, landing to Fulgore-X’s right. The cyborg was on one knee, pushing his right shoulder back into its socket. There was a loud snap as the bolts and metal joints realigned. However, Fulgore-X didn’t charge at Gargos. Gargos stood proudly about twenty meters in front of the two warriors, waiting for their next move.
Fulgore-X spoke softly. “I think we need to change our strategy.”
“What strategy?” Jago asked sarcastically.
“Exactly. So far, we’ve just been tag-teaming him; one after the other. All we’ve done so far is to prolong the fight. We need more teamwork.”
Jago looked at him sideways. “Teamwork?”
“Yes. We both need to fight him at the same time. I have a few ideas, but you’ll need to cooperate. I trust you have no problems with me teleporting you from one location to another.”
“As long as I come back in one piece.” Jago said, still looking at the cyborg sideways.
“First I fight alongside him…now I’m fighting with him!” Jago thought. “This takes the cake on the all time list Unlikely Events.”
“Fine. Here’s what I was planning…” Fulgore-X said.
Gargos crossed his arms as Fulgore-X appeared to be discussing something with Jago.
“And he accuses me of being the politician.” Gargos said. He pointed his right hand at them, ready to fire a massive energy blast, but then decided against it.
“I’ll wait and see what they’re plotting...it might be worth a laugh.”
Eventually, Fulgore-X and Jago stood. The cyborg readjusted some of the hairs from his ponytail that had strayed to across his face. The Tibetan warrior drew his sword. Suddenly, they both charged at Gargos.
Gargos bent his knees and lurched forward, preparing to receive the duo. However, when they were only ten feet away, Fulgore-X teleported. Gargos felt a disturbance behind him and knew that it was Fulgore-X. Jago, though, was still charging from ahead.
Deciding between the two evils, Gargos turned his back to Jago and confronted Fulgore-X. As soon as he did, Fulgore-X teleported away again. With the immediate danger averted, Gargos spun around back to Jago. To Gargos’s surprise, Fulgore-X was there instead. The cyborg buried a set of fierce punches into Gargos’s midsection. They only stung at best. Suddenly, Gargos felt Jago roundhouse kick him in the back of the knees. This caused the demon to arch backwards. Jago forward kicked the back of Gargos’s head, sending him forward. Fulgore-X jump roundhouse kicked Gargos’s jaw, spinning him around.
Gargos quickly flew upwards, and approximately five meters behind Jago. He wiped blood away from the corners of his mouth.
“Hmm…so the bees have stingers, eh? Excellent...this was getting too easy.” Gargos whispered.
From out of nowhere, Fulgore-X shot into the air from behind Jago. He was quickly upon Gargos’s position, and with a back and forth motion, he shot out a barrage of quick plasma storm shots. Gargos backpedaled to avoid the blasts. Fulgore-X pulled his right arm back and gathered an energy ball in his palms. The cyborg sprung his arm forward, propelling the plasma ball at Gargos. Thinking on his toes, Gargos shot an energy ball of his own at Fulgore-X’s. The two balls collided in mid air, causing a brilliant flash of light and a devastating explosion. When the light died down, Jago was standing directly in front of Gargos. He took a series of sword slashes at the demon; Gargos avoided them all. Gargos felt Fulgore-X’s knee slam into his back. At the same time, Jago side kicked Gargos in his stomach. The force behind the two attacks caused Gargos’s head to jerk forward. Jago began to hit Gargos’s lowered head with alternating left and right fierce punches, all of which were successful. Jago took a hop step backwards, as Fulgore-X leaped over Gargos’s back, slamming both hands into the back of Gargos’s head in a hammer like motion. The force drove Gargos into the floor. Fulgore-X remained in the air, then shot a few meters up. With both palms connected and to his right, it looked as if Fulgore-X prepared for a super plasma storm shot. He thrust his hands forward; instead of a super plasma storm, he projected a large energy ball, which rocketed down, hitting Gargos and exploding violently.
Fulgore-X remained in the air, and Jago in front of the site of the explosion, where nothing but a black smoke cloud rose. Without warning, a red beam shot up from the smoke, dissipating it. Fulgore-X had to fly backwards to avoid the blast. When the beam disappeared, Gargos stood. He glared at Jago for a few moments, then rushed at him. Jago had no time to react. Gargos pushed his left forearm into Jago’s stomach, causing Jago to tumble backwards. Gargos grabbed Jago by his jumpsuit and flung him towards the edge of the Dungeon. Jago sailed freely throughout the air, but the sensation was cut off as Jago felt Fulgore-X teleporting him away.
Suddenly, Jago found himself still flying though the air, but in front of Gargos. With little other options, Jago put both knees forward, and buried them in the base of Gargos’s neck. Fulgore-X reappeared on the other side of Gargos, and delivered a nasty spin kick to the demon’s head. As Gargos reeled, Fulgore-X held up two fingers and brought them hastily across his neck. A sign to Jago. Jago nodded. Fulgore-X and Jago teleported away. Gargos raised his head to see both warriors gone.
“Damn technology.” Gargos thought.
Fulgore-X teleported in front of Gargos. He threw a left elbow at the demon. It was slow, therefore, Gargos was able to catch it. Fulgore-X lowered his head; his eyes narrowed, displaying a cyborg smile. The cyborg extended his arm, firing an energy beam at Gargos, causing him to arch backwards.
From behind, Jago, who was kneeling behind Gargos, pushed himself up. With his right arm extended up, he hit Gargos in the back of the head with his tiger uppercut, causing the demon to stumble forward. Fulgore-X, who had readied himself during Jago’s attack, hit Gargos with his snap kick. Gargos spun to his left and danced backwards, but did not fall. Fulgore-X teleported behind Gargos and next to Jago, who had backed off to at least ten meters away from the demon.
Fulgore-X held up his claw. “Now, while he’s stunned.”
Jago nodded. He wrung the base of his sword tensely.
Fulgore-X and Jago charged at Gargos. Gargos was too out of it to notice. When he finally did turn around and look up, he was only able to catch glimpse of the two approaching warriors as they advanced on him.
Fulgore-X drove his right claw directly through Gargos’s stomach, with a force that could’ve moved Mt. Everest. In the end, Fulgore-X’s arm up to his elbow protruded from Gargos’s back, with the cyborg’s shoulder pressing directly against the hole he had created in the demon’s stomach.
At the same time, Jago brought his sword up to his right shoulder and slashed down with everything he had left, cutting into Gargos’s left shoulder, and taking a diagonal down path, eventually meeting Fulgore-X’s arm somewhere inside of Gargos. Jago kept his sword resting on but not cutting into Fulgore-X’s arm.
Gargos roared in agony. His voice shook the pillars around them and the stone underneath their feet buckled. Yellow energy began to seep out from the slash through Gargos’s torso, and the hole in his stomach. The energy expanded outward, slowly consuming Gargos, until it suddenly flared, knocking Jago well back from where he was. Fulgore-X was unaffected.
After the energy burst, all was calm. Jago, who was on his back about twelve meters away from Fulgore-X, slowly picked himself up. Orchid couldn’t stand to be the spectator anymore; she dashed out from her pillar hiding place, and over to her brother’s side. She helped the weary warrior up to his feet.
“You okay?” Orchid asked softly.
“I’ve been better. But I’ll live.” Jago said drowsily.
Orchid supported Jago, who was still tightly holding his sword. “Damn man, I didn’t think you had it in you, but you did it. I should have known after all this time. Now will you get proper medical attention for yourself, or are you...planning...to...eh.” Orchid trailed off abruptly. Jago looked up at her. She looked directly ahead, her eyes completely fixed on something, or someone. Jago looked up, following his sister’s line of sight.
Fulgore-X stood where exactly where he had been when he stabbed Gargos. With his back turned towards Orchid and Jago, his head was turned towards them, with his chin on his left shoulder, and his eyes narrowed. Jago could see his right claw unsheathed and glowing a fierce blue.
Orchid swallowed. “Don’t even think about fighting.” She said to Jago. “You’ve had it for tonight. I’ll take care of him.”
“No...” Jago said to Orchid. “No!” Jago said to Fulgore-X. “No, Fulgore-X. Don’t do this. We just beat Gargos; this isn’t necessary.”
The cyborg continued to stare at him.
“Look…I know about what’s happened to you...your original programming versus what Sheridan tried to do…I know that somewhere in there, you know the difference between right and wrong. You’re different from the other Fulgore’s, right? If so, then just walk away. End this now, instead of pursuing some silly rivalry.” Jago separated himself from Orchid, slowly approaching Fulgore-X, and still holding his sword. “C’mon…power down…come back to Ultratech…and I promise, we’ll fix you, then we can figure out what to do from there. But this isn’t the answer. Please Fulgore-X…if I have to fight you, I will…but I don’t want to.”
Orchid felt her heart beating out of her chest. She had hastily left Shadow’s staff behind in the Control Room. She really wished she had it with her. Digging her toes into the stone, she was preparing herself to fight.
Fulgore-X continued to stare at Jago. Just when it seemed like he would do nothing from this point on but maintain that pose, his head snapped abruptly to the right, shifting his glare to the edge of the pit. Orchid’s attention was directed to the pit also. Jago slowly turned his head to his right, and when his eyes met what had caught Fulgore-X and Orchid’s attention, they widened and his jaw dropped.
Jago could only bring himself to say one thing.
“By the Tiger...”
