Around Work

During the 2002-2003 school year, I worked as a peer advisor for the College of Letters and Science at UC Davis. These are a few pics of my friends and co-workers.

Alex and his Quiet Paddle. We weren't naughty. Promise. ^_^ Chelsea and her award winning smile. Pic's a little blurry because I'm still new with the camera. Our resident rock star Dina, also known as D$ Joyce, Alex, Ngoc, and myself. The Monday afternoon crew. Jocelyn gives a thumbs-up as she works on...something. We're all very happy to be working here.
Dina catches me off-guard in front of the camera. It wouldn't be a bad shot if my mouth wasn't hanging wide open... Imelda, Janet, and me. I don't work for them, but they're a lot of fun, and I'm always bothering them with questions anyway. ^_^ Me and one of my good friends Joyce. She's the oldest 14 yr old I know. Its the only way I can explain the Hello Kitty/Justin Timberlake obsession. But hey, in 5 years, she might be your lawyer. ^_~ Rie, she works in another area, but she's really nice. We took a Food Science class together. You can see Barry hiding away in the background. Megan, looking happy to be filing. Another blurry pic, blame my amateur camera skills.
My coworker Ngoc and I. I'm 6'3, she's 4'7. What she lacks in size, she makes up for in character. Ngoc and I on more equal terms. I really like this pic. Besides Alex and I, this is the only other guy on the job, Nick. The ladies love Nick. My supervisor, Merline, and one of my coworkers, Jackie. Jackie is the world's biggest SF Giants fan. This is not debateable. Priya, Chelsea, and Alex.
Priya, Sanjani, and me. They both worked for ICU, which was a different department from mine, but in the same office. It's all good. Me and Jackie. She's a bit of an obsessive perfectionist...but we still love her anyway. ^_~
Around Davis

Random assorted pics around the city and campus of Davis, California. A day in the life, all that jazz.

Our kendo club president, Aaron, takes a few warm-up swings before practice. He only looks this serious when there's a camera around. Ayako poses for the camera. Sure, she looks cute now, but wait until she's in uniform and wielding her sword... Cathy also poses for the camera. I asked Cathy to look like she was ready to slice someone up for this picture. It took about ten tries before we got this. Surprising, because once she starts to swing the sword around, even I get pretty freaked out. Cathy gives us The People's Eyebrow.
Aaron and Guillome prepare to face off in a pre-practice sparring match. Cathy, Keiko, Ayako, Aaron, Guillome, and Mark in a group shot. 'Wild and Crazy' pose. Although it's a bit blurry, I love this pic because you see everyone going wild...and Aaron standing there completely spartan. ^_^ Another group shot, but with me included this time. Just lounging around before practice. We may not look it, but we are completely prepared for any surprise/sneak attack that may come. Yes, we are samurai like that.
Me in my kamae - the basic stance. From here, you can pretty much do anything - move forward, backwards, side to side, and attack. Yes, its very cool. After practice, its time to get out of all that heavy/smelly stuff and back into street clothes. As cool as the gi, hakama, and armor are, we don't want to scare the general population by walking around in them. Guillome shows off his French Pride. Christy, at our bowling class. We met during Japanese classes. Coincidentally, we were both in Japan at the same time, and had gone through the intermediate Japanese classes the year before, but had never met each other until the first advanced class Fall 2001. Better late than never. Me and Christy at bowling class again. Different day, if you were wondering.
Erik 'shuma' (the one closest to the camera) and Rob heavily engaged in a fierce MvC2 battle. I don't remember who won...probably Rob, since shuma seems to lose a lot. He tries hard though. And shuma is so unintentionally hilarious. Mike, Rie, Tanaka, and Sachiyo. We're at Round Table Pizza, at which Tanaka is a manager for. You can't beat heavily discounted pizzas, you just can't. The guys...lesse...on the left, Andy, me, Tanaka, Rie, and Mike. On the left, shuma, Eric...and I don't remember who those other three people are, actually. -_-;; The Whole Earth Festival, held once a year at UC Davis. Basically, all the hippies come out and celebrate all things nature, healthy, spritual, and what not. It's really...um...trippy. This is the campus quad, adorned with the various booths. Another shot of the Festival.
Yet Another Festival Shot. Check out the green sign. ...Yep. Although I couldn't get a good angle, the girl in the plad shirt is very pregnant. Booths like these are probably a big reason why... One of my co-workers, Patricia. We live in the same Apt complex, so we went to Whole Earth together. Here, she's enjoying a chocolate covered strawberry. My room inside my apartment. Forgive the mess, this was in the middle of the quarter and I didn't always have time to clean. My room, from the perspective of the computer chair.
