Don't those idiots realize what this could mean? A single mink can happily slaughter fifty birds and only eat one. Over a thousand of them still loose....the people responsible should be shot in the arse.:bang:

The link has got a little error in it, here is the right one: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6973323.stm
You dropped an extra quotation mark or some special character at the end of that URL.
This should work: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6973323.stm (EDIT: Meneer beat me.)
And releasing large numbers of minks from captivity is indeed pretty stupid. Happenings like this really put into question the... level of intelligence... the animal-rights movement operates on.

I don't really like any activist need feels the need to break the law, destroy someones livelyhood, or use violence to make their point. If you want to stop real fur being used you need to try and change the publics opinion.
I personally don't like fur, but i do eat animal products, so i think it'd be hypocritical of me to prohibit other people from wearing it by force.

Jesus,I didn't know that minks were actually a threat to the environment.
And how do you only catch a specific animal, because there are still over 1,000 running around.
Animal rights is a retarded idea. The people that advocate it range from idealistic to ignorant.

What minks can do to great populations of birds and other animals can easily be described as genocide. They kill for fun.

Minks are part of finnish wildlife, have been for decades. Cats that can roam freely kill for fun, and are a risk to birds.
I think its pretty ironic that you're so worried about birds, when thousands of minks are slaughtered for the sake of fashion every year. Using methods that can only be described as torture. Hypocrisy?
Anyway if youre intrested in their reasoning, theres an interview of few EVR activists:

As far as I'm concerned, God made animals for us to eat.

I don't at all like the practices of a whole lot of these types of groups.
Penn and Teller, on their episode on PETA, got footage of a famous animal rights terrorist giving a speech to college students and teaching them how to make bombs out of gallon containers and gasoline.

They needed to be taught how to do this? Aren't molotov's easier and more portable? Anyway these people are all just shit head wannabes. Actual change is made politically, not with explosives (just ask the IRA).

Sure, why not? They're animals, not taxpayers. Fur is an industry with hardworking producers, dealers, and consumers. Mink meat is not worth what the fur is, so there's no use for it.
If you don't like fur then don't wear it. The free world lives on economic activity, which fur trading is a part of. If the fur is worth money and the rest of the mink is not, then there's a pretty obvious economic decision to be made there.
What happened is some dumbasses took money right out of peoples' hands because they are sick in the head. There is nothing liberating about grand theft.

Apart from lighting fireworks inside some MacDonalds every new year. Here the activists dont much use illegal activities to achieve their goals, except with actions against fur. We dont have much of that crazy peta stuff here.
Plus, almoust all men here get military training so generously offered by the government :watson:

...and United States became, well United States because?

Honestly though, I could care less about people who release fur animals on another continent, but what REALLY pissed me off is when animal activists torch and wreck up laboratories and science centers. When they fight and attack the advance of modern medicine and technology to save a couple rhesus monkeys and lab mice.

Medical labs, i agree with you (though i do think they should be better monitored). Labs testing cosmetics on animals, i dont agree. Though EU is planning on phasing down animal testing on cosmetics. Trying to make it illegal to sell such products throughout EU and ban all animal testing on such products.
Anyway, what i ment is that those crazy people you see on peta documents, where activists attack meat eaters, pet owners, fishers and what not, is something i've never heard to happen here.

Sorry to disagree with you Beowulf, but as I understand history, the Irish Republican Army actually got most of Ireland back by blowing the Brits back to England. For more information, see the creation of the Free State and how it was achieved (1916-1922).
