A while ago, I have become among the energy-drink addicted. Several acquaintances of mine have too.. although I'm currently into a brand I can get cheap, NOS remains the collective favorite..
And it's gone! Has anyone heard of any kind of recall? Were those bottles made in china, out of lead and cyanide?
My friend chris is a big cheerful guy, but he's in withdrawals.. I visited him at work today....
"Joe? Does the 7-11 have any yet?"
"They get new stock tomorrow."
"I don't know what's going on, why don't they have them?"
"It's only been a week and a half."
"But they changed the lids before that, too. I wonder if that means anything?"
"Hold in there, man. Maybe tomorrow."
I've kicked the NOS habit just because I can get another brand at the costco by the flat at 1/3 the price... but my nos-junkie friends need help...!

Sounds like your friend just needs to drink less NOS. Especially since it's one of the taurine/caffeine energy drinks, making it basically worthless.
And Wikipedia and Google are your friends.

I googled the heck outta the topic.. but the closest I found was NOS fans... The name being taken from an unrelated item didn't help either.. Wiki wasn't much help either.
So what about taurine/caffeine is so useless?
Yeah, he probably does drink too much... I hold myself to one energy drink a day or less... I hate coffee, so it's my substitute vice, I guess.. (I dare anyone to like coffee after making 1500 liters a day for 2 years.. and I wish I was exaggerating.)

If you can't find anything on it and Wiki doesn't say it's out of production, then it's probably still in production. It's possible that there just isn't much demand for it in your area.
Taurine is useless because it does little to nothing. At most, it might help to reduce muscle fatigue. Caffeine is also a bad choice for energy drinks because of how you crash afterwards, as with sugar. Energy drinks that rely on it may as well just be soda.

Eh, I'm ok with a lil crash... i don't notice much with some kinds.. And maybe it's largely mental, but I feel the kick. Gets me woken up in the morning, focused....
so are you more in favor of the 'Gatorade' style drinks?
As for demand in our area- the rack nearly empties every week.. I'm quicker to blame a shipping/supply snafu..

I'm not a fan of sports/energy drinks in general, but if I did drink them, then yes, I'd lean more towards Gatorade. No caffeine, an average amount of sugar, cabohydrates, electrolytes and vitamins are better than a bunch of caffeine and taurine.
Here's the official NOS website, if you still need it:

Except Gatorade tastes really nasty. The only time I can drink it is while I'm playing sports and I crave the stuff in it.

Gatorade tastes liek the stuff they gave to me at the hospital when I was a kid and dried up from not wanting to throw up anything while suffering from stomach flu.

It just tastes more watered down than anything else. The lack of taste is more of a problem than the taste itself. Unless the taste has changed since the last time I had it.

Nasty stuff, really. Avoid energy drinks.
- Take a multivitamin.
- get some coral calcium and some vegetable powder at your local health food store(green powder - just don't get the stuff with protein or fillers) - this is if you aren't eating enough green vegetables, which are your main source of amino acids and calcium. If you are, ignore this.
- eat enough fruit.
- Don't eat fatty things in the morning, including milk. This will 100% guaranteed slow you down.
The problem with energy drinks is that they tend to be all caffeine and sugar. If you eat properly, you'll not run out of energy unless you are really doing heavy exercise.(an need a bit of salt/potassium intake along with the water)

Yeah, I've been to the official site... pretty friggin obnoxious site.. it almost made me wanna go buy an xbox. </cheapPS3fanboyshot>
As long as I stick to one a day or less, I'm not gonna worry too hard..
I eat pretty healthy.. at least a lot better than I used to... funny thin about being the house cook for the wife, and 2 international students.. you're worried abut putting a decent meal on the table, and POOF, accidentally, you're eating better too..

Plus it seems the the caffeine doesn't help men as much as women, anyways; something I saw on the news and read on the NYtimes online...
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/14/health/14ment.html?ex=1187928000&en=c47a90a608e57b2c&ei=5070
French researchers studied more than 7,000 men and women with an average age of 74, following them over four years. They determined coffee and tea intake by interview, and they measured mental acuity with widely accepted tests of visual skills and verbal recall. They also recorded information on education, income, depression, and alcohol and tobacco use, among other factors. The study appears in the August 7 issue of Neurology.
After controlling for other variables, the scientists found that women at age 65 who drank three or more cups of coffee or tea a day were about one-third less likely to have a significant decline in verbal skills than those who drank a cup or less. By age 85, they were 70 percent less likely to suffer those deficits compared with women who drank less than a cup of coffee or tea. There were not enough cases to detect an effect on Alzheimer’s disease.
Seems that the difference in hormones affects this, but it's interesting enough.
I've never seen a healthy person rely on energy drinks, so it should be apparent that less of the stuff is better in the long-run. Good job on the cooking, though; I think I'll feel your situation when no one else is capable of cooking...though I agree, being able and having to cook makes you healthier, period.
It's in mah Hawwwnda!! Yee-haw!
Sorry, had to be said.

Usually most of the small stores in a given area source their merchandise from the same supplier(at least thats how it is around here). So sometimes that supplier runs low and it hits more than one store. Alot of times people were paranoid that an item was discontinued when in reality the store staff just didn't remember(or care) to reorder it.

I love NOS. I love Energy Drinks in general. They just make me happy. I hope you can find NOS again...if not, have you tried 180? It tastes similar to NOS (imo), but it only comes in the small cans, not the big ones.

well, right now i'm on 'red rave', that i get in bulk for about 1/3 of anything at the corner store.. It's pretty decent.
As for store suppliers- my corner store is a 7-11. I used to work at a 7-11.. THEY all get thier stuff from the same place, but I dunno about other stores.. ordering in the 7-11 is fairly mathematical... the only reason I could see they discontinuing a product that sells like that, would be something stupid like "That bottle is too wide, it doesn't look uniform. It stand out too much. A large corporate supplier that competes with NOS doesn't think it's fair that NOS stands out and catches the eye like that. Please discontinue them, oh, and put a huge honkin display for our main brand at the front of the store, pls..."
I dunno about other stores, I dont know where else my friend chris has looked.. personally, my mobilitiy sucks, so I'm not gonna drag my butt around town searching..
ahh, let's crack today's can of redrage... yeah.... i'm quite happy with my cheaper substitute.. at this point the NOS disappearance just puzzles me... oh, and poor chris.. :P

Let me state now I really really really really hate the "word" delish. I could go into lots of reasons why, but I won't.

I can sympathize. Ever since insurgents from New Deli, (Delish terrorists) planted a stink bomb in my dryer lint trap, and painted "KISS RULES" on the side of my dog, I always cringe when someone mentions the delish.
