Side note: You should listen to James Blunt – you’re beautiful if you haven't already heard it, to fully understand how weird it was it.

Today I’d appointment with a doctor to do a Physical Examination for my application to study in Japan and as usual I was running late to the train so I had to run. This happens a lot, well always you might say, it happens so much that couple of neighbors smile at me while I’m running to catch the train, sometimes they shout behind me, saying ‘late again? Or you never learn or you will never catch it’. I just wave at them and smile, for the record I catch the train 8 out of 10 times.

They will be the couple of the things I’ll miss when I move to Japan. In more then 5 years they saw me running pass their apartment like a fat kid running towards a pie eating contest, somehow we know each other even though we don’t know each others names…

This time I was sure to miss the train and this is when things take a turn to The Twilight Zone. As I came up from the stairs, the train was already on the platform and its doors open and all the people already went on it. There was about 30m were I came up and were the train was, it was a short train, I knew running would be waste of time and I would just get more sweaty then I’m so I started to walk but the train didn’t close it’s doors. I got an eye contact with the conductor and I got the feeling he was saying I’m waiting for you. So I run.

As I passed him by he gave me a smile and I smiled back to show my gratitude and went on it.

Most of you don’t find this weird, but here in Sweden, the trains never waits. It takes about a minute for the train to leave the platform once it stops at it. That includes it stopping, opening door, and people getting on in, closing doors and leaving.

It was noon so the train wasn’t filled with people, there were like 10 people on the tram so I sat on the front of the tram, laid newspaper on the sit in front of me and put my feet on it and picked up another newspaper and started reading.

There are 7 stops from where I live and down town; it takes about 30min. The first 4 stops are about 4 minutes apart and as the train stopped on the second stop, there is this beautiful girl is standing next to the window I was sitting and starts looking at me. First I thought what the fuck, do I’ve shit on my face?

Later on when I told this to my friend, he said ‘no, that’s just your face’. Thanks bud.

She got on the train and surprisingly to me she had a perambulator with her. At this point all my fantasies died, of course, when I saw her kid. He couldn’t have been more then 2 year’s old and cute little bugger too, with blond hair like his mother. She couldn’t be more then 25-26, a hot mother but she didn’t stop looking at me and smiling. Clearly she was flirting with me and as I contemplated the idea of going over and saying hi, we reached the next stop.

Sadly her friend came on and all thoughts of approaching her were shattered.

I tried to read a newspaper but I couldn’t keep eyes away, they kept being drawn to her and she kept peeking at while having a conversation with her. I was mesmerized and I was blushing the entire time, but didn’t show on me, being black has its advantages.

All of the sudden, while I was looking at her and having mixed feelings, the song James Blunt – You’re Beautiful came on my Ipod and it seemed like time was moving slowly.

I felt like he was talking about me and at the end of the song she got off the train, one stop before mine. She looked at me outside the train as its doors was closing and as she started to walk away still looking at me, the last part of song went ‘But it’s time to face the truth, I will never be with you’…

Now I sit here contemplating the whole thing with my third home made latte and listening to James Blunt – You’re beautiful on repeat…

Wow.... OMG - what a lost moment!!!

Reminds me of that one day a week ago when I passed by this guy as I was walking HOME from the train.

I was talking to mom on the phone asking her how to make a certain dish. And I wasn't paying attention to where I was walking. Next thing, I look up and this hot guy just crossed my path directly in front of me - to open a door to a building on the right. I was still on the phone and my mom was still talking. I just looked at him and smiled and he smiled back and we kept on looking at each other as I passed.

I looked back at him later on and he was still checking me out. I should have put my phone down for a second and gave him my number or something. >_<

I'm such a wuss.

I loved the story, Mushu. I think we live for moments like those....those 'what ifs' can make us feel special but for a moment lost in time...and live with us forever in our minds. Gotta wonder, what it was about that person that caught your eye....or what it was about you that caught their eye. God knows I've let too many of those moments slip away... You put a smile on my face, thanks :)

heh I really like your editorials dude, reminds me of my life a lot :p
It's pretty weird the way songs and things happen in time, it always makes me think of the Truman Show...anyway ;x
Nice story man :D

edit - just saw the title, I ALWAYS refer to my life as the Twilight Zone XD
So many weird things...I'll have to make some editorials too one day.
