If I saw something like that in a classroom, regardless of country and how they educate their students over there, I would break down into tears in an instant. A 99.5% and she's that disappointed-- I've seen it over in the USA, but nothing about the people it happens to makes you want to sympathize with them so much. In fact, sometimes you feel like laughing your ass off at them, at least with some of the people I've seen.
Ultimate Sweetness though? I'd just start crying. Everyone'd think I was insane, but I'd just start crying. It doesn't make any sense NOT to do so.

Have none of you seen the episode of The Simpsons where Bart has the perfect opportunity to shoot Miss Krabappel with his slingshot as she bends over?

I sympathize with the other students more because not one, but TWO teachers are play favorites. And lately, I've been having a bad time with a teacher like that.
...or maybe I've just seen too many Ultimate Sweetnesses in my life, myself included. For me, I'd cry too if I get a 99.5. But crying for that and crying for an 80 is a little different. I cry because I was so close to getting a 100 and have something to tell my parents. Because unless I get a 100 or a C on a test, my parents never cares.
[edit]Just 45 minutes after I posted the above, I found out I was .5 points away from a 100% on my bio test... the irony. And....arrgh... that is not fair! >_<
