It feels horribly odd this year without having the major blow out expo that was E3. The downpour of videogame, console and hardware news has turned into a VERY noticeable drought, and of course, the idea of no more booth babes still stings hard to the testes.

Now, granted that there still IS an E3, only reduced to a hotel somewhere, I have to ask, has it already happened and nobody reported anything yet? Has it yet to happen, and will there still be as big, industry shaking news announced?

Or will all companies make announcements on their own schedules, such as Blizzard did this year in Seoul with Starcraft 2?

I miss the days of one large convention for huge announcements that made me quiver with excitement over hearing a bunch of games I salivate for being announced all in the same place at about the same time :gloomy:

Yea, but it's just not the same. Not having the big 3 in the same tent. You hear roars of applause on one side because Microsoft just announced Halo 3, and then you hear people having nerdgasms and violent seizures about hearing Squaresoft announce Kingdom Hearts 2.

Ok, granted, these probably weren't announced in the same year's event, but you get the idea.

Sigh, the board who decided that should be dragged across a desert of sandpaper.

E3 will be taking place, on a smaller scale, from July 11th to 13th. In October, a "spiritual successor" open to more than just game companies and publishers will take place, as well.

Some info on the changed E3, with information on the public October version below it. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E3#E3_change_fallout)

I was an E3 veteran, in a way. I went to my first one in 1999 (skipping my senior prom to go for one day, to the surprise of a JEALOUS, not angry girlfriend) and went every year after that until last year, all 3 days.

I was in the industry in some way or another, or had friends in the industry in some way or another, and always had my invites coming in, in some way.

The shows were great, and I spent a lot of time brain drilling the people who I admired and wanted to model my career after, and they always appreciated me doing that, instead of hopping around playing as many games as I could (which I did get some time to do).

I will miss E3, but now I gotta get to TGS someday.

Please make this relevant to what I said in the slightest bit, so I can give you a reply.

Ok read it again, and I see what you are trying to say now.

I would love it if all the hype around games just died. It is all so ridiculously staged that I have trouble finding real information about games. It pisses me off and I'm kinda glad it is over.
