I hope I'm not resurrecting a dead topic, but AZ's new story got me wondering, what does this Ultimate Sweetness looks like? The least we could do is identify her if she is on the photos AZ has put up so far, go to Japan, kidnap her, and somehow brainwash her into being AZ daughter :D

So far I've identified either Velma or Velma Jr., but I thought it was rather obvious.

Last Saturday I went to a speech contest in Kyoto in which Ultimate Sweetness participated.

She didn't win last year, and REALLY wanted to win this year. She tried very hard and practiced every day. She really put her heart into it. Sadly, it wasn't enough, and again she didn't win this year. She tried to be strong, and encouraged some of her classmates who did win in other areas...but in the end she couldn't help but to cry. A lot.

In the end, she was standing in the middle of a circle of adults...myself, the English teacher, her own father, and the parents of some of the other kids from this school...crying her heart out. And all the adults (myself included) couldn't help but to laugh/smile at how disgustingly cute this was.

This girl is broken beyond belief.

She was consoled. All of her classmates hugged her and told her she did a great job. The teacher went over and said something. I told her that regardless of the outcome, she'd done a great thing and was a winner in my eyes. Even parents of other kids went up to her and told her they thought she was very cute.

I was actually a bit worried about it, because with all the attention focused on Ultimate Sweetness, it seemed like the girl from our school who actually placed third was forgotten. This was no small thing - she placed third for all of Kyoto, and this enables her to go to the national competition in Tokyo. And she did do a great job. But all of the attention seemed to go to Ultimate Sweetness and her tears. I told the student that she'd done wonderfully and that I was proud of her (out of earshot of US of course), and told her parents that she was a great student and I hoped she'd succeed in Tokyo.
