LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Paula Abdul broke her nose over the weekend after she fell while trying to avoid stepping on her Chihuahua, her publicist said Monday.
Abdul was recovering from the mishap and will appear on "American Idol" Tuesday and its season finale Wednesday, publicist David Brokaw said.
"She's a little sore, but is doing fine," he said.
Abdul told the syndicated entertainment TV show "Extra" she tore cartilage in her nose and fractured her toe.
"I took a nasty fall ... trying not to hurt my dog. I bruised myself on my arm ... my chest, my waist all the way down to my hip. All from my little chubby Tulip," Abdul said.
The dog was not hurt, Brokaw said.
All sounds like bullshit to me. I bet she got either wasted or drugged, I can't believe she'd get THAT messed up by trying to avoid stepping on her dog.
American Idol should be interesting tonight.

She's got an interesting nickname for her penis.

I'm gonna laugh really hard tonight and hope Cowell gives her a bunch of shit.
"What was that Paul-ah? You started calling your coke stash a "Chubby Tulip?""
I've fallen over and gotten hurt from tripping over my pets. It's possible!

Must have a really weak body if someone can get such damage done to them from falling over. I fell out of a tree last week and I was a-ok!

More importantly why were you in the tree?

Come on Vic, you know the amount of drugs running through you was exponentially different than what P. Abdully had at the time

Haha, I haven't touched a single drug! (not sure if you refering to Abdul being coked up at the time!)
More importantly why were you in the tree?
More importantly, why weren't I in a tree!? Trees are great! I can safely say at the age of 21 I still climb trees!

Not saying she is telling the truth, but there ahve been instances where my dog was sitting on the stairs, and wouldn't move out the way so I had to make crazy last ditch efforts so neither one of us would get hurt.

*growling* All that has to happen is a bad landing. All you need is something in the wrong place. Vic_Rattlehead, you were lucky. People have fallen farther and not been hurt. People have fallen much shorter distances and died of it. For all you know, she could have fallen down the stairs under the scenario suggested by ParryDat.
I knew a guy, not a good friend but a friend nonetheless. He was walking down a five-step flight of stairs. He slipped, he fell and, it seems, too much of the lunch he'd just eaten got into his lungs. He died before the ambulance got here, in his mentor's arms.
Heck, I once broke a tiny bone in my foot stepping on a curb. I felt that the 3X swelling of my foot did not really reflect the tiny broken bone, but it still hurt like the bejeebers.
And, as embarrassing as it is to admit, I have HIT MYSELF in the forehead opening the darned door of my car more than once. I try to pay attention....

Oh yeah? I once shut the door on my head... you know the sliding doors on a mini-van? Yeah, that was rather retarded... "Duh! remember to move your head out of the way!":whoops:

Is there a specific reason why we're blaming drugs for this? I know nothing about Paula Abdul, other than she used to be some sort of singer, and she hosts American Idol. Does she have a known history of drug problems? Or is this just another case of people stereotyping a celebrity, because of course all celebrities must be on drugs.
I broke my own nose while roughhousing with my brother when I was young. Somehow my own knee connected upwards (not even that hard). Noses are delicate pieces of humanflesh, and they get broken for silly reasons all the time. I get bruised somewhere or other because of practicing aikido - came away after one belt testing session with an actual handprint on my wrist, and it hadn't even felt hard at the time. Some people just bruise easily.

Just to hear Ryan Seacrest say
"So the bitch is ok" made it all worth it
You could hear the crowd call the bullshit about Paula using her dog as an excuse.

You're moronic attempt at humor isn't going to get you anymore attention from me, I'm adding you to my ignore list.

Hm... I broke my nose from falling before. Just from being clumsy when I was little and fell. So yeah.
Wait, why are we discussing this? Too obsessed with celeb life. *yawn

My widowed ophthalmologist dated her mom back in the 90s. In the 80s, Paula seemed pretty drug-free when I had a Laker girl as a pal (she had been a neighborhood brat) and I'd sometimes run into the two of them. In case you're gullible. most celebrity gossip is fake.

Because she constantly acts like this in interviews and on American Idol (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjl00-KRIK4)
In defense of Paula: she was in a bad accident when she was a teen and suffers from chronic pain as a result. She has admitted to taking pain medication for this, which is reasonable--however, she appears to be taking more than the recommended dosage ;)
EDIT: Just found this on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxZq76N1GKY&mode=related&search=)

California is weird.
I always thought dating one's biological parents was a no-no. And same-sex incest at that!

I don't get why people worry whether celebrities do drugs or not (or anything for that matter). I doesn't even fucking matter.... how 'bout people pay attention to whether or not their family or friends are abusing drugs and worry about that instead.

Damn straight. Paris Hilton's struggles with alcohol are far less entertaining than watching my relatives get drunk and make asses out of themselves, or seeing my aunt doing lines.
Thank you for putting it all in perspective.

I found the whole event rather entertaining. I'm just surprised that Seacrests joke got such gasps from the crowd, it's the first good one he ever made.

In the notion of what you need to be seriously hurt-
One of my roomies in physio rehab was injured in a fight. Just before he got stabbed in the spine (hence the paraplegia on his part) he had punched one of his opponents in the face. The fellow fell back, and hit his head on a log.
At the time I knew him, he didn't know if the punch or the log killed the guy, but either one is potentially fatal with sufficient speed, and the right angle.

I don't get why people worry whether celebrities do drugs or not (or anything for that matter).QFT. I might be interested in reading about how one became great at what they do, but I don't care how many lines or hits that Ozzy has done.
I wonder whether it's good for my sanity and the purity of my bodily fluids to be on one forum with people who are apparently interested in American idol, or banal mishaps that occur to its judges.
I am proud that I've seen about 5 secs of both series of our local adaptation of American Idol and that I can't name even one contestant or a judge.
But, things are gonna get a lot more real, so I hope people'll have enough depressing day-to-day reality to swallow and reality shows'll cease to be made.
Consider this a warning.

Actually, I like the show. I am not, however, interested in banal mishaps that occur to its judges. Just dislike bashing in general. Actually, that makes some of the show sometimes hard to watch.
Living here in Japan, it's on SkyPerfect Fox Japan, and running a month behind. The difficulties of trying to avoid finding out who gets kicked off next when even stupid MSN announces it in an effort to attract customers....

I sometimes watch the first 2-3 episodes every season when they show the auditions, because they're usually funny.
I stop caring after that. I don't even know who won this season.

Winner was a girl from here in Arizona. The news here was practically creaming themselves over the episode...though I was more fascinated by today's horoscopes in the same news section :watson:
Ozero: More likely the log. A punch, at worst, can destroy your nasal passages, but the whole myth about cartilage going into your brain is false. Meanwhile, the whiplash force + falling backwards can do some serious damage to the flat part of the back the skull; I had a concussion just from a 2-foot fall, practicing....backward break-falls.
On Paula: Very lucky to have a publicist. I'm sure that we'd hear an even funnier excuse if it were to come from her mouth.

All I know is that she was tripping or something the night of the final episode ^_^ When they tried to talk to her on the red carpet pre-show thing, she could barely form a coherent thought and was just a little too ditsy-- even for her. It was quite entertaining.
