So we all know that Japan has 4 original wooden castles, not restored or rebuilt in anyway, and I live about 40 minutes from one of them, Inuyama-jo.

Like I said in the funny/scary story thread, in the All Things Japan board, I went with my ex, and just shot some more pics.

Sorry to the supreme photographers that will say they are all point and click pics, but I just love going out and taking pics with this camera.

I don't know why, but I love taking pictures of peaceful settings like this. This was a coffee shop that smelled SOOO good!

This is a picture of a fountain I took, shortly before getting my ass grabbed by an older Japanese woman!

One of many unique dog statues around the temple, at the foot of the mountain leading to the castle.

This was a candle sitting inside of a stone lantern. Many of these can be found on the property!

On the top of the castle is a ledge you can walk around, and get an awesome view of the city of Inuyama, plus you can see all the way to Nagoya from one side.

Look at the tall buildings in the center of this pic in the distance, beyond the hills... That is Nagoya.

The castle from the ground. You can see the ledge I walked on.

This sign I saw on the way to the car, was just disturbing. I don't know what I feel when I see it, but it isn't clean...

Nice pics. I think my favorite castle is Himeji-jo.

Why is that samurai so genki?!

I think he just decapitated a small child, in the true murderous spirit of the samurai.

That or he was happy to pose for a gaijin with a camera...

What does genki mean?

Genki: 元気 【げんき】 (adj-na,n) health(y); robust; vigor; vigour; energy; vitality; vim; stamina; spirit; courage; pep

I always liked to think of it as "lively" myself, even if it sounds weird in a sentence. :P

Those are some pretty sweet pics, if I do say so myself. The one from the ledge looking down over the courtyard is my favorite.

The Samurai reminds me of this picture I got taken in Italy in front of the Flavian Amphitheater with a centurion and Caesar. Caesar wasn't too happy, but the centurion was smiling ear to ear.
