View Full Version : So a strange lady I've never seen before beats me to the toilet 1 hour ago.
I'm at home, I wanted to go to the bathroom. Needless to say, this was going to be more than a minute. Anywho, I go to the bathroom turn the corner, the doors already partly open I look to where the toilet should be and I see
Some strange white lady(don't you dare take offense) I haven't seen before looking at me and giving a "Oh I didn't know this isnt my house and I left the door wide fudjging open and people might oh...I dunno want to come in???" look.
Well...mabye she just gave a surprised soft "Oh i'm sorry" look but does that really matter now?
*sigh*
I gave a sarcastic "Wow..." as I left and closed the door sort of on my way out. What I wanted to say was "wow thanks for the crappy moment." Then as I'm walking down the hallways to the other bathroom downstairs I gave a loud enough to hear sarcastic "great" to show I was thrilled I got put into that sitation.... /sarcasm duh.
I have a question, God, Az, someone who knows, answer it please.
Are people dumb?? Is the thinking process of Bathroom>close door>lock door THAT complicated? Now I don't even want to go to the bathroom now because I'll be reminded of that dumb person's butt cheeks all over the seat.
The person ended up being one of my brothers friends who was ther for just a few minutes. If I knew who it was I probably would have muttered, "you're an idiot, next time lock the door." instead of just the Wow that said so much.
So the question is, do you close the door? Do you lock the door?
Are people stupid?

Man, I know what you mean. I moved back in with my dad for the summer and for some reason he doesn't feel the need to shut the door, sometimes even when it's #2. Fuckin gross, I know.
And I always shut the door. And yes people are stupid.
And this thread title made me laugh.

For like that whole thing I thought you meant an old like 80 year old lady... THAT would have freaked me out.

haha that reminds me of work. Our accountant, this old brown guy, was in there for 20 minutes, grunting and shit while I'm eating my foreskin sandwiches, and it's gropssing me the fuck out. I suffer it, like any Zeus would. Anyways, about 3 seconds later, my manager goes in and lockes the door. Three seconds later he begins to severely vomit and cry, and rushes out. I don't even give a shit, so i continue eating. AFter I'm done my break, I go in to wash my hands, and what do I see but a pair of glasses in the BOWL, with bloody shit. Jesus please kill that guy for me.

I learned to shut and lock when my big brother and his friends would try to get into the bathroom to catch me doing #2 when I was like 7...you know your life is strange when you don't feel safe in your bathroom

I just thought it was common knowledge to lock the door. That keeps people from walking in on you as you nearly did to her. I guess she didn't know that.

nearly?? no I did.
and kusoyaro, your story confuses me. did your manager walk in while the other guy was there or what?? I'm so lost.

My mother has a habit of leaving the door slightly open when she uses the restroom. Sadly I am used to this already. The good thing is she does not do this when there is company or when she might be in a public area.
As far as people leaving the door open when they use the restroom in a place they do not live in, I think it is extremely rude and, frankly, confusing. What comfort do they feel in leaving the door open for some unknowing person to accidently wander into the bathroom?
Dunno, man. Maybe this lady wanted someone to come in. I hope not.

You'll never know for sure what people might be trying to subtely plan for you. Never rule out the sickest possibilities.
For instance... I have a friend who finds much amusement in opening the doors on his friends while they use the restroom. Once he even left his door open and I accidently walked in. He had a good laugh. I got sick and left.

Interesting story.
I usually close and lock the door when I use the bathroom.
My mom, for some reason, leaves the door open about halfway. Why? I have no idea. I mean come on! You already closed it halfway. How hard would it be to close it fully?

Well it's the same deal with my mother. Maybe it's a characteristic of past generations?
Who knows? All I know is it is not so uncommon with older people. This includes the elderly unfortunately.

I don't have to lock; the light shows under the restroom when someone's in it, even the guests catch on to this without being told. Otherwise, I knock.
Also we have this neato sign that says, "closed" and "open"....but no one uses it.
My only advice: keep it closed. Not ajar, not wide-open, but closed. If there's no ventilation, open a window. If you can't do that, then that's cool too.

Heh, when I was little, I heard the story of Bloody Mary, that'd she came out of mirrors, so I use to always have my bathroom door open. Of course I got over that at age 32.... I mean like 10 haha, that's still way late (I'm 15 now), and like now I do.
One time my aunt was using my cousins bathroom (she has one in her room), for some reason, and the door was open half way, I walk in and like shes sitting there and is like "Hey Joey" I was like *BARF* my aunt going to the bathroom!
But yeah, I always ALWAYS lock the door.

Lmao. Bloody Mary... that brings back memories. We were all scared of that. I remember being afraid for my life a few times. To the point I was ready to die. Oh to be that young again.
But isn't it disturbing how these people(my mom, your aunt) seem to be so oblivious to our dismay when we happen to accidently see them on the toilet? Granted we're family, but I don't remember agreeing that this was okay.

Speaking as a mother, a lot of us learned to use the bathroom with the door open so we could keep an eye (or at least an ear) or the baby or children, as the case may be. A lot can happen in the time it takes to go to the bathroom, especially in the case of more creative children.
So maybe it's a hard habit to break- I admit to leaving the door open to my (really small) bathroom inside the master bedroom in the US. In my small Japanese apartment where the toilet has its own tiny room, I shut the door when my daughter is home. Otherwise, I leave it wide open for the claustrophobia...

Well there is one explanation I had not considered. I guess it really took a parent's perspective on the matter to understand. I would not know... not a parent and I don't remember being so young as to need to be monitored so closely. But it seems understandable that a maternal instinct like that may be a little hard to break.

how do you think a 17/18 year girl who probably isn't a mother would explain herself? Will you repent for her sins aswell??
WHAT WAS SHE KEEPING AN EYE ON!?!?

Maybe she was just waiting for anyone in general? I dunno, some people are demented like that.
I can't say I have seen this as a huge problem... the whole white women appearing randomly in bathrooms with doors unlocked. It has not been a problem for me at least. But think about other places... like hospitals and nursing homes. Or apartment buildings. It must be happening all the time there. I know I got freaking scared a few times when I was in the hospital after surgery. Using the restroom and I swear people kept trying to come into my bathroom.
That is sort of related.

lmao. Well I hope not. I think I still have 'em, but now I'm not so sure. Who knows, maybe they were infatuated with me...? It's very possible with my handsome, anesthesia-saturated self. It was nerve-racking, though. They seemed very pushy about me being in the bathroom.
<knock knock, push> "Are you done?"
"NO!"
 Such bad manners.
Ugh this makes me feel sick, people do it at our house all the time ¬_¬
I also know people who don't wash their hands, which really makes me feel sick.

I'm more concerned about your reaction than her leaving the door open... honestly, when there's a stranger using your toilet, all you do is walk away and say "wow"?
PS: I close and lock the door.

lol now that I think about it, mabye wow wasn't the best word. Even though the tone seemed obvouis to me. Oh well, i think the sarcastic "great" on the way out sent the message.

I don't think I could argue with someone sitting on a toilet. I'd be more concerned with the reasons I am still in a bathroom with a stranger sitting on my toilet.
