...and why? (that's why I put this in the General Discussion forum instead of RWPW....I want some interaction with these posts, not just people listing their votes)
Even if you're not a Disney fan now, then what was your favorite Disney movie when you were a kid?
Say whatever you like about other people's choices, but no more than three of your own votes!
Here's a list of them to get your mind working.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_notable_Disney_feature_films
Monsters, Inc. gets my story award. It's not a complicated story, but it's good. It's kind of hard to judge story with Disney movies, since they're simplified for a an audience with lots of children in it. I really like some of the old school films, like Lady and the Tramp or The Rescuers. But the fact remains that it is a unique, heartwarming story, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame gets my music award, hands down. The lyrics are clever and moving, and the songs are inserted almost flawlessly into the plot and the rest of the movie. Sometimes, music can look superfluous or gratuitous if it's just thrown in for good measure, but they really do an excellent job integrating it with the main story in Hunchback.
Lastly, my animation award goes to the Lion King. It's spectacularly done. Hand drawn or CGed (it has both, very well integrated), it doesn't matter. It's just beautiful. I struggled to pick a movie for this one almost worse than I did with the story award (Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast were big contenders), but in terms of sheer impressiveness, you can't beat this one.
Anyway, that was my five cents. Enjoy!

My favorites were all the animated films mady by Mr. Disney himself.
Also, All the animated films made after his passing up to and including The Black Cauldron.
Honestly, If I had to pick a few it would go like this
Snow White
Fantasia
Bambi
Sleeping Beauty
The Black Cauldron

Miracle would be my all time favorite Disney Film. Given that I'm a college hockey player it is pretty easy to figure out why.
Cars is really the only Pixar movie I've seen and liked. Mostly because I'm also a car person I guess. I loved how the ricers ended up stuck to the pavement machine at the end. Get off my lawn, you damn kids!
As for movies as a kid I would have to go with the 1970's era Herbie. For some reason the little VW bug just made laugh. I haven't seen the new one since it looks like a PoS relying on Lohan's appeal to kids and her D cups to get dad to take them.
I pretty much only watched Disney cartoons as a kid. Chip and Dale and Donald Duck were my favorite. Now I'm lucky to find the occasional rerun on TV due to all this anime and junk.

You can't find the Disney Treasures collection: The Chronological Donald Duck? there are 2 at the moment, should be a third set coming out soon. Chip And Dale should have a set coming out someday too, if not I'd be very surprised.

I'm sure I could. But I don't love them enough to pay what Disney wants for some DVDs. I like them to be on the TV and free. Oddly enough cartoons will be one of the things I restrict any future offspring from watching. I'd hand my child my an Animaniacs, Thomas the Tank Engine, Simpsons or Futurama DVDs before I'd let them watch anime honestly. At least those shows do something to stimulate the mind as opposed the just for kids junk today. Plus anime is a gateway cartoon to hentai.
Actually my plan is to subject my children to football and hockey. When my son ends up gay and with a fetish for big dudes in spandex pants I will be utter shocked and blame society.

I've always loved Robin Hood, mostly because of the soundtrack as well as the story. I mean, c'mon, the soundtrack is by Roger Miller! He narrates it, too, as Allan-A-Dale. I LOVE IT! In fact, it's the only Disney movie I ever bought on DVD. I have Lilo & Stitch on DVD, too, but that was given to me. :)
Speaking of that one, I love it, too. Apparently I was very much like Lilo as a child. :innocent: Again, I love the soundtrack-- Elvis!-- but I also like the characters very much. Oddly, I'd have to say my favorite character was Jumba, although Lilo and Stitch are close behind.
After that, The Lion King definitely rates. My favorite character (and Disney villian altogether) is Scar. Being the strange child I was, when I first saw the movie I actually cheered Scar and the hyenas on. >_< I remember that well, despite only being about eight-years-old, because I was scolded by a relative for liking the bad guy.
Other favorites include The Black Cauldron, The Great Mouse Detective, The Aristocats, The Jungle Book (again, I liked Shere Khan better the best), Sleeping Beauty, the list goes on. I love them all, really, even Treasure Planet.
I'm not too crazy about Cars. I'm kind of sick of CGI. It's wonderful, sure, but I want the classic animation back!

Most of Miyazaki's movies have been released in the U.S. through Disney, does that count?
But as a kid my favorites were The Lion King, and Pinocchio. I don't exactly remember why, though, I just really liked their stories, I think.

My favorite is The Fox and the Hound because... well, I just love it ^.^ And I've loved it since forever and a half.
Buuut my next favorite is The Lion King which I have half-memorized, and Aladdin because my girlfriend and I can sing to all of them. Good memories with the last one XD
Disney film ? Favourite ?
A bit like asking me what's my favourite method of torture (probably getting raped by a woman :-)
Can't say, since I have been very dilligently evading any viewing of Disney films in the last five -six year. And I don't remember very much of them.. these days I'm usually waiting 'till the next episode of Sopranos slithers to my hdd through my puny internet connection.
God .. 64 kilobits.. I should have stayed at the dorm. We had 10 mbit there.
I don't know whether that animated film about a bear pilot who was flying a large yellow hydroplane was Disney .. but I liked that one. Almost anything with aircraft in it is good..
(exception to the rule is Pearl Harbour .. )

Are you only talking movies actually created by Disney or distributed by Disney?
Because Monsters Inc isn't a disney movie, in the sense that Disney had nothing to do with the production, story, etc. I believe they only distributed the film, otherwise it's entirely Pixar. Hence they would always say "Walt Disney presents a Pixar animated film..."
Anyway, my favorite will always be Aladdin.
Lately, though Disney fails at making animated movies, Pixar had been saving their ass for a good 10 years now.

Oh, but, um, it counts. Disney had a hand in a lot of films but didn't actually make them, or something like that...
And before anybody else asks:
PIRATES OF THE CARIBEAN does not count. It is a Johnny Depp film, not a Disney film :watson:

Good topic =P
Princess Award goes to - Little Mermaid, I love the music and the storyline. Second Place goes to Beauty & The Beast (tho I actually place Aladdin ahead in overall)
Story Award - Lilo & Stitch, I just love this movie. And yes the Soundtrack rocks, good island music too, which is always a plus. Second Place goes to Finding Nemo - you shall be my squishie!
Just Because They Rock Award - Lion King 1 & 2, Aladdin 1 & 2, Monsters Inc, Cars.
I really love all disney movies and cartoons. I guess growing up in So Cal, 30 mins away from disneyland does that to a kid =D

Monsters Inc. - I still laugh my ass off for minutes at a time when Mike sprays himself in the (giant) eyeball after she touches him. I don't know why I find it so funny. Most people think I'm insane after the first 20 seconds or so and after I'm finally done a few minutes later everyone proceeds to tell me it really wasn't that funny.
I hate those people.
I'm considering carrying around a can of disinfectant to spray them in the eyes when they say that.
Ah, such good memories with Disney. xD I even played one for my then-not-gf for a talent show.
Music: Fantasia! Now that I'm older, I understand the music they picked and the visuals were just fun to watch. The new one just wasn't as good. The original, I watched countless times with my sister. I think I got it from a Honda dealership we were buying a car from.
Overall: Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast, probably cause of their music too. Mastiker's got good taste ;D I liked [i]Something There[/b] from the soundtrack of Beauty and the Beast the most but all the songs were just spectacular. I even ripped the audio off of both of those and had them in my music player for a long time. Nothing's quite like having an entire musical on your DAP ;D
But all Disney songs are fun and catchy to playyyyy
P.S. I didn't know knees looked like that. Soli, aren't you supposed to be in school?

Pirates of the Caribbean, honestly, they dressed Johnny Depp up as a pirate. GENIUS. I liked the first one slightly more than the second one, because, the second one was evil for obvious reasons. I anxiously await the third, thanks a lot second one :P (And yes it counts :P so there :P I've rode the ride man, I ate in the overpriced restaurant that's connected to the ride, it counts!)
Lady and the Tramp, I looooove this movie. I always have, always will. It's just one of those movies that I got attached to when I was little. The movie has tons, from love to scary parts (Those rats anyone?!) Overall a good film.
Lion King, another movie that I've always enjoyed. I even had all the toys along with a pride rock set to go with em. Though, compared to the toys the pride rock was rather small... :( But yeah, I shouldn't need to describe the movie, because everyone has seen it! Even before they're born >_>
Also, I didn't like the Lion King 2, I did like Lion King 1 1/2 though. I haven't seen the Lady and the Tramp sequel.

I really love all the old disney movies(as in before they went to CG), but my favorite has always been Lion King. At one point, I had the entire thing memorized ^_^*.
Did anyone mention Mulan? For some reason, i was a HUGE fan of that one too XD.
Here is some news:
John Lasseter and Ed Catmull are planning to return the Walt Disney Co.'s studios in Burbank to its roots as a "traditional" (hand-drawn) animation company exclusively, while Pixar will continue to turn out computer-animated (CG) features, Disney watcher Jim Hill reported on his website www.jimhillmedia.com today (Tuesday). In doing so, Lasseter, the chief creative officer for Disney Animation, and Catmull, the unit's president, will be reversing Disney's efforts over the past three years to, in Hill's words, "retrain that studio's staff as well as to change Disney Feature Animation into a state-of-the-art CG operation." Hill observed that the plan has not yet been "entirely embraced" by Disney CEO Robert Iger. One result of the about-face, Hill noted, has been the cancellation of Disney's plans to produce the computer-animated American Dog, a movie conceived and supervised by Chris Sanders, who ironically was responsible for Disney's last big hand-drawn hit, Lilo and Stitch.

1. Pirates of the Caribbean: It's Pirates. Pirates are cool
2. Something Wicked this way comes; It's a hooror movie made by Disney. Back when Disney was way cooler.
3. Hmm this is a tough one...Probally Tron
xD I should've known Caro would've done her research.
YES Mulan is another brilliant movie. My sister and I memorized that over teh course of a summer by watching it every day.
And yes, I did get the PM =D Sent one back even.

One of the Disney movies I've always loved is Fantasia. The pretty music plus visuals was really fun for me when I was little because I liked classical music a lot and then there were fun cartoons to go with it. My favorite parts were the ones with the fairies and the centaurs. :D Also, has anybody mentioned Mary Poppins? That was another childhood favorite. That was the movie that made me draw a chalk picture on the sidewalk and try to jump in. I didn't get anywhere, though. Well, besides on top of the picture. Annoying lack of real magic. :/

After that, Sleeping Beauty. Maleficent is just so damn awesome.
""Now shall you deal with me, O Prince, and all the powers of Hell!""

Yeah, this is correct.
and my fav's are:
Lady and the Tramp- Very cute songs and story. I love dogs as well.
Peter Pan- TINKER BELL. I like the story and relate with the lost boys and Peter and never growing up.
Mulan- Beautiful! Very catchy songs. :)
I've noticed most sequels to Disney movies are just... "meh" y'know?
I had no idea one could had a knee in their crotch region...:eyepop:
The minister is dressed as a bishop (wearing a tunic and tights) in this scene, and the triangular bulge claimed to be an "erection" is actually his knee sticking out from under the tunic. The minister's bandy legs and the blending of the tunic and tights make it difficult to distinguish his knee in some frames, although it is clearly visible in others.
This is what it says on scopes. :)

He might be able to find the second Donald set in some stores, but it's going to be harder to track down the first one. I happened upon it solely by chance at my local Best Buy (that and the War Time set at Borders!).
Those are the only Treasures I own; I know I won't find the Goofy set, and I'd love to get a couple of the Mickey Mouse ones, but that's not happening any time soon.
But generally speaking, compared to the Looney Tunes and MGM cartoons, I don't think any Disney cartoon can hold a candle to Tex Avery's works or Hanna and Barbera's or Chuck Jones'.
As far as actual movies are concerned I think I've only seen a few over the course of my life. I liked the Lion King for its story and wonderful cast of characters (and their respective actors). 101 Dalmatians was another favorite of mine when I was younger; I can't wait to pick up the remastered, Platinum Collection DVD when it's released (I only have an old VHS tape). There's also Robin Hood, which is just fun to watch (I really liked the Sheriff's voice).
There's also Song of the South, but the only reason I like that movie is for the Br'er Rabbit animated portions. The movie itself is so-so, but the Br'er Rabbit shorts are hilarious. Too bad we won't be seeing it on DVD any time soon.

That said, if you've never seen the Unbirthday song in Japanese, look it up on YouTube. It's so fitting for some reason. Also seconding the vote for Gaston.

Those films were made by former Disney animator, Don Bluth. Bluth left Disney in the late 70s because there was alot of talk about shutting down the animation department, so he started his own studio. With hits like Secret of NIMH, An American Tail, and The Land Before Time, he really came close to burying Disney in the 80s, until Disney bounced back with the Little Mermaid.
Both only make completely unnecessary sequels to their films these days, and neither have done anything to impress me in a lot of years.

The First Land Before Time was actually good, the sequels were completely pointless and unnecessary. Bluth and Disney are both guilty of this sort of crap, its very annoying, but I guess neither one are confident enough in their abilities to attempt another original feature.
Disney's formula stopped working for them, so they gave up and leave everything to Pixar now. Bluth just couldn't get enough interest drummed up for any of his projects I suppose, and without financial backing he really can't do much. Again, Neither Disney or Bluth have impressed me for many many years.

Generally, whoever had the rights to the original films. In the case of Land Before Time, it was Universal Studios; in the case of Secret of NIMH, it was MGM.
Don Bluth was never particularly happy about it.

This reminds me of the old Warner Bros cartoons. Often, at the very end of the cartoon, the animators would drop in a single, shall we say, less than G-rated frames(some being downright X-rated). The reason was that they could get away with it due to the incredible time-crunch and it was an ongoing inside joke to see what they could get away with, since the owner(s) were obvilious to it for years.
Most of it has been edited out, though, so it's hard to find examples online.

Hmm Shamu's post reminded me of that Lion King thing where a little girl found the word SEX in one of the scenes. It was the scene with the stars in the skies, which spelt out the word.
There's also more Disney accidents, like that porn poster being in one of the scenes.

I am thoroughly disappointed in this thread. 3 pages and not a single mention of my personal favorite Disney film....
The Jungle Book
Incredible art. Incredible music. Incredible story. (It's Rudyard Kipling!) Last film personally supervised by Walt Disney himself.

The Jungle Book
how could i forget. i used to have "i wanna be like you" copied on a tape, and me and my sister would throw our stuffed animals around while we played the song. :D
I liked the original Jungle Book story better, that's why I could never get into the cartoon. =d
Edit: Found a Disney USB Drive link here (http://66.249.93.104/translate_c?u=http://pc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/2007/0131/buffalo2.htm).
