View Full Version : What made you happy today?

Wee thread.
For me; I got my first 2 essays back from University and scored 61 and 65 which are both classed as 2:1 which I'm happy about! I could've scraped another few marks on my 65, I made stupid mistakes I.E I forgot some bibliographic information which I used in the body of the essay. Might've been able to push it upto first with a few minor adjustments, but I'm still very happy with 2:1...even 2:2 would've made me smile in such a manic way!

I dunno about british scores but a 61 and a 65 are both failures... I dunno.

Anything under 40% here is fail. It's like:
69+ = First class
59-68 = 2:1
49-59 = 2:2
40-49 = third
under 40 =f ail with resit
under 30 = sod off!
Or alone those lines...roughly.

I'm happy because as of Midnight last night, I have health insurance again! \o/ I can actually go to the doctor when I get sick now (and be able to afford it) and I can also go to the dentist and get my teeth looked at (a few of them have been bugging me).
First thing I'm doing after checking a few things with the insurance company is calling and making an appointment for a physical!
I never thought I'd be so happy to go to the doctor >_>

I'm happy today because I have power, and my friend in St Louis might get power back today too. (CNN has info on this if you're curious why I'm extra happy about electricity.) Also, I'm happy that the other half of the tree outside my dorm didn't fall off. As of right now, one side has completely broke off, and the other side still has all it's limbs. It's strange.

For me January examinations, I got myself 2 A's, 1 B+ and 1 C- which puts my average at B-ish which is 2:1.
2:1 is a minimum for me, the 1st is a bonus. For the area that I want to work in, you need atleast a 2:1 to get a job. A 2:2 doesn't quite cut it.

Wow things are lax over there if that is true. We got an A- at 90 and an A was something like 95%+. They sometimes gave us a break by making a C go down to 70%(C minus was about 65%) - but that was it.

-Talking to Trina who might come down to California sometime soon. :cool:Oh man! There will be very much MJ happening during that event.
-Finding out that RATM got back together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so going to Coachella if I fricking can. Oh man. OH MAN.
What didn't make me happy today:
-Finding out we can't make those brownies ._. it'd take an ounce. We don't have that kind of money. But we are making steaks with it. Which I hear is pretty damn awesome.
-Getting made fun of a crapload in history. I've about had it with this kid, I'm going to kick his ass -_-;
-My partner for singing in a choir talent show thing not being where she should've been so we could practice. Which meant that I brought my guitar for NO reason today.

Playing Counter Strike. Sad, I know, but it made me laugh more than I've laughed in a very long time. Maybe it's cause it was almost 2AM and I was tired, or maybe because it really was hysterical, I don't know... but it was great. I humped and tea-bagged the body of this one guy who kept trying to kill me each round for 2 minutes straight until the round ended. The bomb was near me and only one of his team mates was alive... but he never showed up for his explodey thingy. Oh well. Then I was kung fu knifing, and for some reason every time the screen went white after a flashbang, I started to crack up (that had to be due to being tired). Plus much more! :O

I have decided that I am no longer buying the soups from the can because they have about an 70% suckage rate, and making soup from the packet of dehydrates stuff is FAR superior. Of course I'm not making any stew/soup from scratch any time soon, but I'm a huge soup lover and my soup has to be great quality for me to eat it since I eat soup fairly often.

Today started off kinda bummy. Trina sent me a message thingy on myspace saying I had hurt her feelings :O so I felt really bad throughout the whole day wondering what the hell I did.
THEN
I found out I passed geometry which I thought for sure I failed.
I'm hanging out after school right? Friend comes by, I got to squeeze a booby :3.
Trina was only joking (BITCH! That had me seriously worried.)
I got a new guitar.*
So all in all today was awesome.
*The guitar was given to me by the man who helped create me whom I haven't seen in 9 years. My mom came downstairs tonight and was like "Joey, I randomly remembered your grandma's phone number (my mom's mom is dead [R.I.P.], so she meant my dad's mom.) if it's the right number and she answers, wanna talk to her?"
My mom calls, and like my grandma (who I have never met) started bitching at her how I'm not my dad's son. Then my grandma finally gives the phone to my dad like "CHRIS! It's your ex-girlfriend." and they start talking, and finally my mom hands the phone to me (I thought it was my grandma) and she's like "He has a little sister now, too, right?" like right before she hands me the phone. I start talking and I'm like "Hello..?" and it's a guy's voice and I go O_O and my mom's like "IT'S YER DAD." and I'm just... like.. what?
"Hey, Joey, how've you been?" he says.
"Good... I guess.. how have you been?" I ask.
"Pretty good, pretty good." then he said "What kinda axe you playin' now?"
I told him how I still had the guitar he had given me the last time I saw him, and how it needed to be resoldered because I played it so much that the electronics part kinda wore out.
He's like "I have an Epiphone Les Paul Gold Top, with some new pick ups that I modified (my dad is a REALLY good guitar player AND bass player) that you could have."
I was like O________O "Really?"
"Yeah, you at Phil's?" My mom's boyfriend's name is Phil.
"Yeah.." I says..
"I'll come drop it off right now."
O_O I talked to my dad IN PERSON for a hour and a half. I got to play guitar for him, the man who is basically the WHOLE REASON I PICKED UP A GUITAR (when I was younger I wanted to impress him with the guitar he gave me for the next time he was supposed to come over >_>; which he never did.. until now. PLUS he gave me my first guitar and amp.). I talked to him, and him and my grandma (who is hopefully not a bitch since my dad basically knows I'm his kid) are gonna come to my talent show thingy I have Thursday night.

Let's make a special club and be massive elitist faggots to everyone who still lives with their dad.
Forshizzle. Like the "I didn't have a dad for most of my life but now I do possibly so you can suck my dick and die of AIDS because you're lame and lived with your dad your whole life and don't know the pain we've been through without having a father figure there for the most part of our existences, leaving that huge empty hole that pierces through you every father's day, where you're the only kid left in the corner not making macaroni art club."

Going one on one in GoW with some guy who was talking shit about my crew after we beat his crew 3 games straight (3-0).
He wanted to go up against our best player and my friends elected me to represent them. Thanks a lot....
Anyways. Rules were.
Execution
First to 8
Bleed out duration 5 seconds.
Final score: 8-6 (Win)
He took me down with a sniper active reload in the final round and ran up to me to finish me off. I got up just in time and blew his leg off with a well placed shotgun round.
My heart was racing that entire match.

I performed two pieces on the piano for an audience and I totally owned them all. It's been a while since I've had the satisfaction of saying so, at least before I went to Japan in 2005, and it made me really, just, happy.

My boss made me leave work three hours early today because I had too much overtime already and i've got the weekend off... so I was like "Let me get this straight, you want me to leave for my off weekend three hours early?" "Yup, get outta here." "Done and done! SEE YA!"
Got to see a live image of my g/f for the first time in a month... she finally got internet (100Mbps fiber... *drool*)
A lot of things made me happy today, but it's a toss-up between getting more permanent accomodation and watching the NASCAR with my dad over drinks and fish & chips for dinner.

Today, I'm happy because I switched out of the class taught by someone who, in less polite company, I would call a "bitch." And now I'm in journalism, hurrah!

Beating Dagoth Ur and thus finishing Morrowind. Which, in turn, makes me sad.

My best friend at work bought me a copy of Supreme Commander! :)
I finished reading the Divine Comedy again and I actually found it rather amusing.
Kinda makes me sad too, because im apparently not afraid of going to hell. Lol.

I was talking to my friend on the phone, and he was on his way home. He arrived at his house and started getting stuff out of his car and started saying things like..
"Where's my phone?!"
"GRrr!! Where is it?!"
"God dammit I think I lost my phone!"
"Fuck!"
"Where's my phone?!"
I was like.. "What?!"
He responded with .."OH SHIT! I'm talking on it...... SHUT IT!!.... SHUSH!!"
That made me laugh, which means... happy! :gwitch:

How did he not realize he was using his phone? does he have one of those hand-free setups or something? or was he stoned? ;)

He's just a doodlebrain sometimes, he compared it to leaving sunglasses on your head and thinking you've lost them. I told him it's not quite the same.. :hat:
(He's also called himself a girl a few times because he's so used to disagreeing with everything I say. More happy times. :P )

Bump because this thread makes me happy. :)
Also because of what made me happy yesterday: I had four books out of the library since last semester because I am a huge procrastinator and generally suck and stuff. They were declared "lost", which meant I owed $15 late fine + $60 replacement cost + $35 restocking fee per book. I finally worked up the courage yesterday to take them back and pay up so they would unblock my registration for next semester. Turns out I only had to pay the $60 in late fines, not $430 for replacement and everything. Yay library!
