Hey guys, well given the fact all im doing for the next month is sitting on my arse, seeing friends every few days adn working i thought it were time i get a hobby or something productive to do.
I thought how about drawing? I mean ive always meant to get good at it, and draw some manga styled pictures of manga styled art, and i thought 1 month of free time is a good place to start practise.
So any advice?
Any books that will aid me greatly?
Tips that you wanted to know when you started?
etc
Help is thanked for.......now.

Learn figure drawing. Learn to draw basic shapes, how to work with perspective, etcetera. And then draw and don't stop.

Draw, draw, draw, draw, draw. Get People magazine, draw. There is no magic shortcut, and if you think that some book will give you all the answers, watch as your hand betrays you and screws up that nose. In irony, I do suggest you get a book on drawing for foundation's sake, but you have to be passionate enough to keep doing it every day.
If you know anyone who can draw, ask them for advice when you get stuck in a rut. Also, don't start trying to make everything photorealistic; it makes it a chore. Try to have some fun with it, whilst keeping focus on what you're doing.
When you don't have anything to draw or do not feel like drawing something for hours, doodle. As absurd as it sounds, doodling limbs helped my anatomical understanding emmensly be training the correct builds in my brain. Then again, what else would you want to do behind a desk or in math class?
If you can memorise, say, Rachel Leigh Cook, then you know how to draw thousands of other women by then. It's all in principles, and practice...practice practice.
