Can someone please define what a "mod" is for me?

I'm referring to... well has anyone seen SLC Punk, or read Blue Monday? I've got the idea that a "mod" is someone who wears a suit and rides a scooter but... that's about it. I have no idea what one is.

A mod is something you put in your Override Folder for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. It gives you various things, like modified armor or weapons, or it modifies things, like starting your romance with Bastila Shan earlier. The mods were a music culture back in the 70's or whatever, much in the same way you have hip-hoppers, emos or punks now. They listened to certain music, dressed a certain way, and shit like that. I think it was mainly a British thing, I am not aware of anything like this in the USA. Watch the film Quadrophenia for an idea what the mod culture was like.
