Yaaay my school is starting a Women's Ice Hockey club! Now to get hockey skates and learn how to use them :)

It's about time I started playing a sport, after all.

Wow. You're really into male sports, aren't you? I don't mean that in a bad way, I mean that your last sport you did was wrestling, wasn't it?

My dad says Womens Ice Hockey is no different than mens except it's much less extreme and hense more boring. I kind of agree with him. Want an extreme girl sport, I like that roller whatever you call it sport where the girls wear these cute little miniskirts and tackle each other in the skating rink XD. Man, I'd love to see that in action. hee.

Actually, the last sport I played was Rugby :)

Old injuries prevented me from continuing it, however. But those have all been treated. And I actually know the rules of hockey, which helps.

I don't love "male" sports - I love contact sports :)

no bodychecking in womens hockey. the most 'contact' you'll get is a bit of bumping and nudging. no open ice hip checks for you. if you want to hit, join a mens team.

I think so. I know we had this mini reality show about it and I loved to watch it the brief times I could catch it when I remembered. I think the show was called "roller girls" It was just so awsome. Like murderball. You guys know what that is? Basically rugby for the people who are wheelchair-bound. It's full contact. I watched a documentary on it. It was really awsome. Zupan was an awsome dude. They create their own custom wheelchairs they use for the sport and they're designed so that they can tumble over and get smashed without hurting the person. Very interesting. i suggest watching the documentary. I believe it is called "murderball".

And how cute, you call me by my usual internet nickname. lol. See, the rest of my internet friends call me arky, but op9ers refer to me as zaichi. I like both, so that's cool :D. Zaichik actually means "bunny" or "sweety" in Russian ^_^. And... I have no idea what "zaichi" means. hehe.

Roller Girls was the show about the Roller Derby. My advisor's daughter was like head of the editing team or something for that show.

Is there really no checking in women's hockey? That stinks. Back when my mom played, at least, it was full-contact.

Also, at 5'1" and prefering to play defense, there's no way I'd be able to play on a men's team. Even for a women's team I'm probably on the small side.

Know how to use my leverage and low center of gravity, though, so it should be okay.

what position were you playing in rugby?

In Rugby, I was the hooker, because I am small and tough to knock over.

You have no idea how weird that sounds for someone who doesn't know what a 'hooker' is in rugby terms.

Not what I expected. I figured you would have been a back. But it does make sense.

No, I'm in no way an endurance runner, so I think I would completely die being a back. Because of my wrestling experience, they wanted me to be a forward.

I know the feeling, but they turned me into an endurance runner and moved me from second row to flanker

Exactly what I was thinking.

You mentioned being really small compared to the guys. I went to a girls' basketball game and the short girls looked tiny, but they were really just average height, 5'2"-5'6". The 2 tallest girls were 6'4". O_o That's taller than a lot of guys.

6'4"

Dang. And I get a lot of comments when I say I'm around 6'2. Over here that's not even that uncommon.

6'2", wow. Tall women are so elegant!

Really athletic women don't seem elegant to me. I guess they could be if they got all prettied up. =P (really athletic like Serena Williams)

Oh, I got pink boxing gloves for my birthday. ^_^ Now I just need to find something to punch...
