Well, I've made the move to Florida. I still don't have my own internet yet, so I may still be a little scarce. I'm told that my phone and internet service should be up no later than Monday evening. I can't wait.
I put up an editorial about the actual moving experience if you want to check that out. I haven't done much of anything here. I'm just starting to work at the new Walmart tomorrow.
Well, I'm glad the new message board is up. It's looking good. =)

What part of Florida did you move to?
Grew up in the Tampa area (more specifically New Port Richey) I can give you some pointers on stuff to do depending on the area your in.

You mean there's things to do here? Maybe it's just the part I live in, but Florida just strikes me as boring.

Yeah, totally... maybe if they had some beaches or theme parks or something... But as is, SQUAREVILLE...

I was being serious. I hate going to the beach. Where I live, there's basically nothing to do, so I usually go to a good bookstore/comic shop/electronic store. That's just me though. Guess I shouldn't complain, since I enjoy going to those sorts of places.

Alright, I know mid Florida the best, but if your anywhere around there its worth the drive there on a weekend to do some partying...
EBOR!!! Not quite its former glory, but that place is awesome... Tampa, St. Pete, clearwater has some stuff to do, Miami's quite nice.
If you can get ahold of a small boat, try filling it up with large amounts of alcohol and taking yourself and a few of your best buddies out to an island to camp out on overnight.
umm, if you like rock type music, there are a lot of good concerts to be found. Check out 98rock's Livestock concert, that is just insane... I've been to like 3 of them and have many fond memories...
There is always Denny's too!
This goes back to one of the threads on the old board, I think if you are overly bored most of the time, then it probably means you are a boring person. I had a blas in the 18 years I lived there... Looking forward to visiting around January.

I'm in florida as well. There's always stuff to do as long as you're not living in the boonies between major cities. Where you at?

Well, I'm in a little town called Hilliard. And I know, none of you have heard of it. Nobody knows where the hell Hilliard is. No one has heard of it. It's a very small town.
Yeah, Ardo, I saw your little "invitation" at the old outpost. Although....what exactly were you inviting?

This has got to be the first time some one actually turned up almost local. Wow awkward. (Jacksonville)

Palm Bay's top tier in terms of suckage. Pretty much everything from about Malabar on south and most everything in the west is hick country: Malabar and Valkaria being "rich hicks", the west being the more normal hick/white trash variety. And naturally, Port Malabar area = middle class (well, as middle class as you can get in this city), whereas Palm Bay Rd. to south Melbourne is essentially a ghetto. And naturally, there's nothing to do. Turkey Creek trail I guess, though the only animals you ever see are squirrels.
Man, totally lame.

Is there anything to do in Lakeland? I always just thought of it as... that place between Orlando and Tampa where traffic jammed up.

Do you like watching cows chew grass? :P

LOL@Chrono, that WOULD be the case, if there were cows running free in the city. ;) Lets see, (in south Lakeland) theres.....some stores, an arcade (with Korean-style DDR, =D), the movies, tons of resteraunts.... umm....yea, not much LOL....For fun me and my friends walk around Super Wal-Mart at about 1 AM, after DDR'ing, its fun XD Then theres the mall in North Lakeland, but it takes like 20-30 minutes just to get there.

Oh man... Walmart at 1am... that place just scared me.

1am is peak Walmart-run hours. Many were the nights that my roommates and I moved through the aisles; singing Bohemian Rhapsody and, in the case of my roommate Josh, sporting a large, green, 22/7 Mad Hatter's hat. Good memories.
But yeah, Florida is alright if you are not in the middle of nowhere. I spend alot of time in Orlando and West Palm and, while I prefer Orlando, both places are okay.
