Okay, since some of you clearly recognize who Seki Tomokazu is (who is, by the way, an awesomely funny and cool guy!), I was wondering how many other seiyuu (voice actor) fans are around here? Who's your favorite Japanese voice actor and why? Do you ever watch anime/listen to dramas just for the cast, regardless of whether or not you like the story? I know I do!

It's too hard to me to choose just one favorite, but my top male seiyuu is Takahashi Hiroki; I just love the way he can change his voice so much for different roles! How can such a big guy play Kikumaru Eiji from Prince of Tennis? What really pushed him over the edge as my favorite was his perfomance as Hisoka in the Hunter x Hunter musicals; he was absolutely hilarious! His Folgore from Konjiki no Gash Bell!! and Kenji from School Rumble are very entertaining as well ^^ Other guys I love include Morikubo Shoutarou (especially as Ginji in Get Backers), Chiba Susumu, Seki Tomokazu (duh!), Hiyama Nobuyuki, Hoshi Souichirou, Ishida Akira, Okiayu Ryoutarou, Inoue Kazuhiko, Midorikawa Hikaru, Sakurai Takahiro, Yamaguchi Kappei...the list just goes on and on!

My favorite female seiyuu was and always will be Niiyama Shiho, who is no longer with us ;_; You'll remember her as Seiya/Sailor Star Fighter from Sailor Moon. Close in second is Minagawa Junko; I love her boy's voice, but oddly enough I really enjoy her super-feminine voice (found as the class president in Mahou Sensei Negima!) as well. I usually don't like typical female voices for the most part, they're almost always irritatingly high and annoying (ever heard Kugimiya Rie's normal speaking voice? ow!). My favorite female seiyuu are inevitably the otokoyaku (women who play guys) such as Ogata Megumi, Paku Romi, Takayama Minami, Saiga Mitsuki, Kaida Yuki, Takeuchi Junko, Sakamoto Chika, and so on.

Tell me about your favorite seiyuu! ^_^

I'm tempted to choose Tiffany Grant just to see the purists' heads explode :p

Met her briefly at Otakon 2002. Got a deer in headlights shot of her with a friend somewhere...hehehe...

Personally, I've never paid too much attention to members of the cast in particular (well, ok, briefly paid some attention to Megumi Hayashibara, but she's pretty hard to miss...hehehe...)

As far as Japanese dramas go, Takashi Soramachi (GTO) is my favorite Japanese actor, and I'd like to get my hands on more stuff with him in it

Akira Kamiya, one of the busiest Voice actors ever, it would probably be easier to list the shows he hasn't been involved with, but I won't.

really hard to narrow down the fave female seiyuu, so I won't bother

Japanese? There's really only one. Monster Maetsuka, who does quite alot of voices for various SNK games, is ridiculously good. He's the only Japanese VA I'll ever put up on the same plateau as Grey DeLisle.

I'm a HUGE Megumi Hayashibara fan - not only her seiyuu stuff, but her music as well.

The reason? Slayers, plain and simple. I LOVE that show. Then there's Saber Marionette, Sorcerer Hunters, Gundam 0080, Cat Girl Nukunuku, and many, MANY more.
