I've been trying to look at videos on YouTube, but it tells me that JavaScript is turned off. According to my computer, it's turned on.
What's going on?
If you're using Firefox, it's under Tools>options>web features> check the "Enable Java" box.

Okay, three things.
1. She already confirmed that Javascript is, in fact, enabled.
2. It's tools, options, content for me.
3. Java is not Javascript.

No, I'm using Verizon Yahoo! at my uncle's, but even regular ol' IE isn't working, either.

To configure the Yahoo! Browser to run javascript:
1. From the Tools menu, select "Internet Options."
2. Click the "Security" tab.
3. In the box at the top of the window, make sure the "Internet" icon is highlighted. If it is not, click it once to highlight it.
4. Click the "Custom Level" button near the bottom of the window.
5. Scroll down through the list of settings to the section marked Scripting, and locate
the "Active Scripting" setting.
6. Make sure "Enable" is selected. If it is not, click to select it.
7. Click the "OK" button to close the Security Settings window.
8. Click the "OK" button to close the Internet Options window.
(I didn't write that, it came from here (http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/verizon/browserv3/browserv3-37462.html).)

Hmm, I tried that and enabled it all, but it still says it's not working. Good grief. >_<

JAVA IS NOT JAVASCRIPT! I'll say it one more time..
JAVA IS NOT JAVASCRIPT!
And once more for emphasis...
JAVA IS NOT JAVASCRIPT!
Try reinstalling Flash. The only time I got that error (last night, on my laptop), I just installed Flash and it worked fine.
Hey, for old time's sake...
JAVA IS NOT JAVASCRIPT.

I've had javascript break on client machines before. One thing that usually fixes the problem is to install the windows scripting host:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=C717D943-7E4B-4622-86EB-95A22B832CAA
I have no idea WHY this actually works, but it's been about 75% successful for me with IE script problems. I'm guess it must update a file/setting that is part of the original problem.
I've had javascript break on client ...
Good god, man - get into the armored bunker right now! SCOTT heard you say that!

Uh, what are you afraid of? The thunderous winds from my applause?
He's talking about javascript, not java, unlike the people before him. The link actually IS for the Windows Scripting Engine, which controls how Windows (and IE in particular) interprets/compiles various scripting languages, including JScript, which is basically javascript.
I'm just tired of people saying to download java to fix javascript problems, because the two are unrelated in that respect. It's like telling someone to download a Firefox extension to fix an IE problem.
..And I gloriously fail at sarcasm once again. Sorry, I'm now aware of the difference between javascript and java.
