Yesterday was a great day. My younger son Anders married his sweetheart yesterday. They had a beautiful wedding in a small church attended by many family and friends. The bride was of course beautiful and my son handsome. Both impressed everyone with how much they were in love.
Following the wedding and the photographer taking pictures in the park we went to the reception hall for a wonderful meal, dance and general good time. It was great and I am a very happy man.
Being a true martial artist my son and his bride cut the wedding cake with a large Filipino beheading sword that Anders' Grand Master gave him for the wedding.
I know that many of you know Anders from OP9. I invite you to wish him a long and happy marriage to the woman of his dreams. Both Anders and his wife are from families that stay together and where divorce is unknown. I can easily sense that they will carry on the tradition with everlasting love.

Congratulations, hope the weather was nice for you. Not sure how I'd feel about a beheading sword (or if I'd want my new husband keeping it around the house)...

Congratulations to you and to Anders. I think a better use for a Filipino beheading sword than cutting wedding cake could not be found.

Anders and his bride recently moved into a small one bedroom apartment. They don’t have Internet access yet so he hasn’t seen this thread. I did tell him about it and he is very anxious to read your comments and to answer them and share some pictures.
I personally wish to thank all of you for your kind wishes for my son and his bride.

Thank you everyone for the kind messages over the last week. Christine and I were thrilled to hear from all of you. We still don't have internet in our new apartment, (something we hope to fix in the next couple days) but for now, I am commandeering my Dad's laptop when we visit his house. The pictures turned out great, and with any luck you'll be seeing some of them by the end of the week!

Right when you said Filipino, I knew I had to say my felicitations.
I joke, I joke.
I laughed at that beheading part, though. Must've been one heck of a party of your lifetime.
You sound like you have a loving family. A hearty congrats to your ever-growing family, and best wishes in the near future!

Anders is still working on getting Internet access. Being a newlywed, money is a major issue. Road Runner is fairly expensive but then it would also cost them a lot to get a land line phone and and Internet access over the phone. Now, he and his wife use their cell phones for all personal calls.
I do believe they will bite the bullet and get Road Runner within the next several days. When they do, I'm certain he will post pictures. I've tried several times but I can't get it right. All that shows up on the post are the link addresses, not the photos. Obviously, I'm doing something wrong. I just don't know what.

Did you put the address of the actual image into [img] tags, so does the address end in .jpeg, .gif or whatever?
ruaidhri

I did put the address of the actual photo between the [IMG] brackets. It is on the Walgreens Pharmacy site and doesn't actually include the name of the photo only Walgreens picture ID.
Next time Anders come over to visit, I'll ask him to post the pictures using my computer.

A hearty Hooo Yah to the whole family.

The actual URL of the image needs to be in between and tags. If it's on that site, you should be able to save them to your computer and just do a mass upload to photobucket.com or some other free image host.
C'mon, you're our resident computer literate Old Fart, remember? :P

Let's see if that works... (I'm working on my Dad's computer- no internet yet)
The first picture is Christine holding the sword, waiting for me to come around the table to cut the cake.
I don't know why, but I always have this sinister grin on my face when I have a blade in my hand. As a side note- the sword cut through the cake like it was nothing. Maybe it was the weight of the blade, but we've never put so little effort in cutting a cake before.
The rest pretty much speak for themselves.
Many more pictures to come!

Those are such nice pictures! You two make a lovely couple.
That knife looks rather frightening... but as it makes the cutting of yummy cake a breeze, I'd think that the scariness is outweighed. :D

As the old saying goes, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” Both of my sons wear a beard a mustache similar to my own. Mine of course is much, much older, first appearing on my face in the late 1960’s. Redbeard has the fullest beard and is the tallest at 6’ 3”. Anders is about the same height I am at 5’ 9”. And, yes, Redbeard’s beard is indeed red and therein lies his screen name.
Redbeard was the Best Man at Anders’ wedding. If you couldn’t tell, I’m very proud and happy with both of my sons. Anders and his new wife Christine are doing great. Marriage is, I believe, suiting both of them just fine. There apartment is very nice and they live close enough to both her parents and to us to visit as often as they wish. I truly feel like I have a new daughter, not just a daughter-in-law. She is a wonderful addition to our family.
Redbeard, like so many of you is starting another new semester at school. This will be his last semester of actually taking classes. Next semester he’ll be on dissertation status and will receive his PhD in Materials Engineering in May 2007. He lives near the campus and survives by teaching at the University, managing their composites lab, writing research proposals and applying for and receiving scholarships. I do plan on having a big party for him to celebrate his becoming Doctor Redbeard. Considering that he began his college career in August of 1998, it’s been a long haul. With his qualifications and his specialization in developing new materials employing nano technology, he could end up anywhere in the world. I’m excited for him and his upcoming opportunities.
Both of my sons are proof that if you work hard and don’t give up you’ll eventually win. Yes, I’m very proud.
Grrr... My earlier post didn't show up...
You certainly can't deny your sons. They look a LOT like you.
You've got a good looking crew there. Congratulations.
