Ask for input on essay topics, research sites, presentation ideas, etc.
I'll start.
Assignment: a big drawing of a metaphor (defined by the teacher as "a figure of speech in which a word or phrase that designates one thing is applied to another to suggest an analogy between them, or one thing perceived as representing another". Examples from the teacher: "All the world's a stage", "the ship that plows the sea"). Don't get stuck on the dictionary definition of a metaphor here.
I have to find real objects to represent my metaphor and take them into class to draw. No drawing pictures of pictures.
My ideas so far are more like idioms or proverbs than metaphors: "that's the way the cookie crumbles", "don't cry over spilt milk", "paint the town red". Anybody have any better ideas before Tuesday?
