This thread is to talk about the bad stuff that happen in Japan. Like Yakuzas, teenage punk who extort money, prostitution, school girl stuff....etc.
I happen to know from animes,( yes, I'm an otaku) that there is this group of punk bikers that go around town, picking on victims. Is this true?

The statement is kinda odd. You say you do know that they are there.... but then you ask if it true. That is kind of contradictory.

That could be true, but the tentacle monster is not that bigs. I think it was maybe in a protitution area where they serve females.
Any is there any clean places in Japan. How about bad places. They say Roponggi is like a protitution haven. Anymore of those type of places so that others could avoid them( yeah, right).

The tentacle monster are fake, but the sub it with squid/cuttle fish, they used them for masterbation( in mangas).
Anyway, I don't believe a shit about what happen in manga, like school girl prostitution, having sugar daddys, ...etc.... until I stumble upon Az's site,I was like " Wow, It's all real like the animne and manga".
Anyway back to"Any is there any clean places in Japan. How about bad places. They say Roponggi is like a protitution haven. Anymore of those type of places so that others could avoid them( yeah, right)." this topic.
Arent there any clean places, you know like those pesceful places in animes or manga?

No all of Japan is full of prostitution and nothing else.- of course I know that, but talk about the places. I think those that are quite fond of japan would know better.
Anyway about yakuza, I just know that they are mob or mafia, well tell me more. And also punk bikers, where can we find them.
And any people that has encounter something bad in Japan.

eg. Yakuza are mob, they are lot in shinjuku, the biggest gang is known as Ryuunomagi, these yakuzas, do dirty business....( I made this up, so I wish if there is somebody who could explain the bad stuff of Japan and how to avoid it, besides this could help those that are new to Japan avoid casualties)

Your probably not going to get messed with. Just try not to piss anyone off and you should be fine. I beleive the Yakuza run gamblimg facilities and the like but I'm lazy and don't feel like checking.

Well since we have little knowledge about Japan, we need some Japan experts(those that stay in Japan for a couple of years) in this thread to tell us more.

Seriously... Not even I believe everything I see in anime/manga. (I'm pretty sure I did see an electric rat shock a cat to death once...)

There are so many resources about living in Japan, the dangers of Japan, and other miscellany. How about instead of bothering us all about it with your k_____n-ish incomprehensible ranting, you go and find some of them?
K, thx. Baibai Otaku-chan! v(^.^)v

when will you get over picking on me??
and if it bothers you, don't post. It's an "all things Japan" sub-forum; this is a good source. Articles and videos don't talk back to his specefic questions.

And when will you stop making stupid comments? I didn't name you in the slightest there. I referred to incomprehensible ranting with a k and n which could just as easily refer to korean ranting as kokujin's ranting.
This forum is for specific questions -- not generic ones by someone who has gotten his concept of Japan from anime and can't formulate a sentence properly.
If you'll note, I answer serious questions/well-phrased ones seriously and politely. When it's drivel, I respond to it as such.

the k and n was pointed towards me. They really shouldn't have to be well phrased to request a polite response. I think a polite question/post deserves a polite answer. They/I shouldn't have to write like you do just to recieve a civil response.
To me, it seemed like he knew because of his exposure being only anime, he knew he was probably/most likely wrong.

To MR. Pierrot le fou
If you understand or know about any dangers and other miscellany in Japan, would you care to share your story.
First, I don't kow where is Roponggi, I get to know this place from Mr Azreal's 'I'm a Japanese school teacher' editorial. It is said that in his visit to Tokyo, he go to a club in Roponggi and there's a ruckus there. It's about some american and some club bouncers almost had a fight. So, I consider that maybe Roponggi is quite a shady place or a place with full of unhealthy elements. Besides Roponggi, could you care to tell me is there any other shady places that should be avoided? Other than that did you encounter any danger in Japan? Is the goverment in Japan corrupted? Can you bribe the police? Is there any racial conflicts? Is there political fight? The list goes on...
I'm really sorry if you think my English is kind of out. It is because it's British english. I don't mind if you think my english is weird.
Finally, thank you for commenting on me. I hope I have make myself clear.

Look, frankly, you can go everywhere in Japan and be fucking fine. Japanese get chills down their spine when they go to Roppongi or Kabukicho but there are nothing but pimps there who know better than to mess with foreigners because there are plenty of drunk salarymen that are easier targets. The bike gangs are the products of some anime writers reading about the hell's Angels and exist nowhere, except perhaps if you count high school students that hang around on scooters smoking CIGARETTES (OMG!) while they're only 18.
The only people that will really mess with you are the Chinese/Korean maffias and the American military. The former is more of an urban legend and I've never encountered them. The later is very real but easily spotted from a distance and avoided. The main thing you should worry about is looking right before you cross the road, which should be easy enought if you're British...

So because Az had a problem once in Roppongi, you think it may be a shady place or unhealthy. Gee. So I heard, that one time, this girl was run over by a tank in South Korea. I think it must be a shady place, or unhealthy. How about you type in some simple searches to google? Like "Is Japan Safe?" or "dangerous places japan" or somesuch? You'll likely get a nice guide for tourists describing what to be wary of. God forbid you do the legwork yourself.
And your English isn't weird because it's British English, it's weird because you're incapable of expressing yourself rationally or coherently, preferring instead to rant in assumptions and half-assed veiled comments.

back on topic--
Well, Japanese host mothers tend to be a little overprotective (i don't know if this applys to all Japanese mothers but, whatever. When I would want to go someplace like Ikebukuro or Roppongi, my host mother would always go, "Abunai! Dangerous Zone!!"
Also, I've seen this ultra-right-wing political party campaigning around different cities whom my host mothers called Nazis...

Nope. They DO exist. They're called bosozoku (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosozoku). Wikipedia says they were indeed inspired by the Hell's Angels. I took a class on Japanese minority cultures while studying at Meiji Gakuin University, and bosozoku were described as punk, rebellious, teenaged males who often grew up to be Yakuza. I think I actually have the bosozoku/yakuza lecture recorded on MP3, if anyone is really interested. Just PM me and I'll look for it.

The bosozoku in my area, at least, are annoying high-school dropouts that ride really slowly around various areas revving their bikes and making a ruckus. Occasionally they'll come tearing through town, but the fuzz is too close for comfort most of the time.
I personally find them hysterically funny. They think they're the cat's meow riding on their tiny little scooter-bikes (coming from Harley-laden southern Arizona, you can imagine my mirth) and doing their damndest to annoy the hell out of the local populace. One guy I noticed even went so far as to put a bullhorn-esque loudspeaker on his exhaust pipe. It was one of those priceless MasterCard moments... ;)

how fitting, the kanji for it is 暴走族, or literally, running wildly tribe.
Even Jim Breen has a definition for the compound as "club of rabble-rousing reckless-driving delinquents)

Wow, I didn't know that. I've never seen them around Tokyo, although we do get the "high school gangs" in residential neighbourhoods, which make me either want to laugh or to slap some sense into them.
