What instrument do you play? Type of music? Are you in band/ a band? How long have you been playing? What brand do you have? What kind of amp do you use, if you need one?
I play guitar, and am not in a band. I've been playing for 2 years now, and am pretty good. I have a B.C. Rich Warlock Bronze (it looks like Slipknot's guitar, but I hate slipknot), but I want to get a new one. I have a Fender amp, not sure the model, it's I think 90 watts, or 75. I play Rock, and all of it's sub-genres, and hope to learn classical.
I lack musical abilties. For now....

guitar and clarinet.
and i like to think sometimes that i can play drums....but i'm assuming the fact that everyone begs me to stop soon after i've begun proves i'm not as great as i think i am.
holy crap....i didn't even read the other questions. i have a fender stratocaster electric guitar and i have a vintage 12 string takamine accoustic and i'm not sure what kind of clarinet i have and i'm not interested in going to look right now. i'm in a trip hop band but i mainly do vocals. playing clarinet for seven years off and on and guitar for three or four years.

I play the violin and the viola. Well I used to since I've pretty much given up. I used to be excellent, but then I became more interested in listening to classical music rather than playing the songs. Now my skills have sort of atrophied. I can still play high school level songs and a funny little pirate song I learned by ear.

I play guitar a little. I'm not in a band. Well I'm not in a band that I play guitar in. I'm in two techno "bands" and we only use our voices. It's kind of stupid. Well really stupid. o_O

It's a challenging instrument, as are the others that are played along with the violin. The basics are pretty easy to grasp if you make the time to practice, but once you get into different fingering positions and have to get note accuracy exactly all the while playing at a tempo that would burn away at the fingertips, things get tough.
Also, I know this is true with all music, but in an orchestra it is absolutely necessary that one never fall out of intonation and the like. The simplest mistake can make the whole performance go to crap. Seen it many times.
Memories... heh.

I play the tenor sax in our schools concert/marching and jazz bands. It's fun, I like it...but I kindof doubt I'll stick to it once I'm out of high school. But who knows.

Give me an instrument, and I'll try to make a sound that I like with it. Even if it means not playing it properly. Accidental sounds are sometimes the best in music.
Of course, the skin flute is definitely out of the question. Same with a rusty trombone.
I suck at the guitar, but my friends promised to help me learn so I guess I will be able to play that one in a bit.

From 5-13 I played the recorder. Mighty well. I even got to play the tenor. Mmmmm. Bassy.
13-present: I play the viola. Mmmm. Alto clef. I only started it so I could study music theory as a class. For some odd reason. Dropped the class, but now can't go without the viola. I play in the full school orchestra and the string orchestra, as well as a couple of Chamber music competition groups. I'm an aural learner to start with, but sight read pretty well. Just hate getting in the practice. Ah well. I want to pick up the bass guitar next year at uni. :) I love that mellow twang. mmmm. And did I mention I love bass?

BAGPIPES!!!
I've been playing guitar for just about 6 years now. I'm taking a little break atm due to RSI joy.
I play everything from rock to metal and acoustic. I've got a Fender American Strat, a PRS SE Soapbar Singlecut, an Eko Acoustic and a Wesley Strat knockoff that I keep in Eb. I play through a 40W Marshall DSL401.
I played the drums in high school rather well. I've lost most of my knowledge though, because I haven't been keeping up outside school.
I played a variety of mandatory school instruments too, and I was pretty good. Never carried any of those on though, becasue they suck. :p

Bassoon here.
Not alot of people liked to play that instrument for some reason, but I had some fun with it, even though it was a bitch to clean.
What the fuck is a bassoon?

Both my parents were music majors in college, so we have a pretty musical family. I play clarinet quite well, the high school band went to play at Carnegie Hall my senior year when I was first chair clarinet, and I even got a solo there, which was ungodly amazing. I also played alto sax in jazz band, and have taken piano lessons when I was younger. I'm trying to teach myself guitar but am not appearing to have much talent at it.

This thing is about 5ft tall and has 6 pieces to put set up, kinda hard to play which is why hardly anyone would choose to play it.
...how the shit do you play one of those?

With a shit load of practice. This thing is by no means easy to play, but the same could be said with about any instrument. It requires alot of maitenence and the double reed the bassoon uses costs about $5 each where as the single reeds that the clarinet and the saxaphone uses is only about $1 or less. But once you get the hang of it, its well worth the trouble of learning it.
Also, the price for the average bassoon is about $1500 to $3000 depending on what make it is.
One more question:
Why would you bother?

The bassoon is an important instrument in classical music. I believe there was once a song that it was used in that once caused a riot for the song's unusually emotional qualities (it made people scared). When I heard the bassoon, though, it was played extremely high, which was unusual for that kind of instrument... In any case, important.
Ah and the name of the opera was "Rites of Spring" by Stravinsky. The beginning has a beautiful bassoon solo.

a sax. I would like to expand and play al sorts of saxes but money limits. I would love to get in a band but I lack contacts.
about the basson. supposedly you can make an easy transition from sax to basson. about every basson player I know started on the sax. Pretty common for woodwind players to double instruments where I come from.

I wish the sax I want was 1.5k or even 3k. Reeds for the sax can be quite expensive if your particular. Most people will mod thier reeds but other rich bastards order them custom made. I may be in a unique postion though because all I know are heavy muscians.

My main insturment is guitar, 7 string ibanez, and also a 6 string accoustic Morris guitar.
Also own and play...
Violin
keyboard (Motif ES6, and a couple other midi keyboards for softsynths)
Bass guitar (some Japanese brand, starts with a T)
drums (have a full electric set, but would love an acoustic)
And sing a little bit.
Aside from the guitar and drums I don't really play the others that well, but good enough to write songs and record parts one at a time after several takes.
Been playing guitar off and on since middle school, only seriously in the last few years. Sang/played guitar in a band in highschool named Stillborn
I don't have a band right now, but a couple people I jam with every once in a while and I record my songs. I'll get a band together once I return to the states and try and do some serious touring.
If anyone has any questions regarding recording or anything like that, feel free to PM me, I have a lot of experience recording, I've released a CD in Japan and have 2 more on the way shortly. I think I'm better at recording than actually playing anything.

I started off playing bass, even playing in bands for a couple of years, but I started having problems with my hand and had to stop.
Later, I taught myself guitar, which doesn't bother my hand. Mostly rhythm, though, because I've had too many other things to do to learn how to properly solo.

Thinking a tenor cannonball. its about 3k stock. I plan to get a full set up with that too. so thats a bit for a new mouth piece and a couple other attachments. Also another alto which fits the 1.5k 3k range.

I can play guitar, bass and keyboards. I been learning how to play drums (mostly death metal style). Write lyrics and sing some. I've been in a couple bands but not at the moment. I plan to record a grind album and I'm producing for some friends that want to make a rap cd.

Ha! I'm learning the bass now! I'm pretty good considering I've been playing for three days. It's only a 2 string one though, because it's broken, so it has like the second to the lowest string tuned to a E and the highest string tuned to whatever basses have after their E.

its scale degrees. 1 is the root 2 is the next whole step up. so on a c scale that would be ... C, e flat, f, C, e flat, f sharp, f.
Its smoke on the water. Its just the musical representation.

Violin/Viola but I haven't played since college
Piano but again, I haven't played since college
So, I can't read music as well as I used too. Oh well.
Voice, since forever, and I'm really damn good at singing too!
Went to college on an opera scholarship, but can sing anything. :D
I wish I still had a piano nearby though, so I could sing and play again. That and having a piano helps with singing scales and warmups.
Oh yeah, and I have perfect pitch too.
Sorry, if you couldn't tell, I'm really proud of my singing voice, it's one of the few things in life that I kick ass at! :p

I played the trombone in the 6th grade. I played that well, and probably could have played the trumpet too. I quit because the teacher kept yelling at me, I didn't practice nor did I bring in a signed sheet saying I did. They wanted that stupid sheet every time, such bull. I still managed to stay in 1st and 2nd chair out of like 9 :/
A funny thing, I can't play a clarinet. I don't mean, I can't get the notes down. When I blow into it, it doesn't make noise. Not even a squeak. Gave the music teacher a "WTF?" face :(
Anyone who meets me asks if I play the piano, I have long skeletal fingers of doom, which I guess is good for piano playing.. I can play Marry Had a Little Lamb on the piano! And on a touch tone phone! :/
Now I'm music-playing-less.. I just sing to myself :(

I had to Clarinet lessons, then I moved to another state and there was no one around for miles and miles who could teach me, so I quit for lack of a teacher.
My wife played the Flute for years (I only learned this just last year or so, when I found her flute in the attic), She also played Guitar for alittle while.

I play Clarinet, I was 2nd chair in High School, and I never onced practiced.
I have a friend in the Marine Corp. Band. He can literally pick up any instrument and play songs with it within minutes. We had hours of fun finding Nintendo music .mp3s, having him listen to it, then he would play it back on the piano. I seem to remember him playing songs on other things, like straws and bottles and crap.

I used to play a flute back when I was in middle/high school. That's about 7 years I think. I haven't picked up a flute ever since I graduated from high school though.
I played 2nd flute for 5 years, although the instructor wanted me to play 1st flute. I eventually switched to 1st flute since my friends dropped the music class.

Been playing for about 3/4 of a year now, however I officially started 5 years ago, but stopped due to lack of interest (really stupid decision). I own a Squier Telecaster Standard (its all I could afford, high school students don't get alot of money :(, but I love it). I have a Behringer amp and I love toying around with the built in effects :)
I mainly play rock, but I'm starting to get into blues and jazz.
Vocals..eh..I personally don't like my singing voice but other people seem to enjoy listening to it..so, whatever. Since I suck at guitar compared to my friends I'm always stuck singing..
