Don't trust popups. They don't scan your computer from the internets, they just want to sell you their product. Although it IS however likely that you have spyware causing these ads. Get a few anti spyware programs, I suggest Hitman Pro if you want do a real thorough search.

I think I had the same problem before. Use AVG. It's the best. Do those pop-ups say that your computer is infected and that you need to download some kind of virus scanner(click this link to download blablabla)? At that time, my virus scanner couldn't detect anyting. So people over here suggested me to download AVG. And AVG detected a trojan horse on my computer. I also downloaded Hitman Pro 2 but it didn't really work for me.
If the problem won't go away, then I think the best thing for you to do is making a Hijackthis-log, going to a site with people who're specialised in those things and post your Hijackthis-log there.

If AVG free and does it delete the spyware and adware. The one I'm worry about the most is Zango which has a 5 bar out of 5 warning.

You likely don't have a virus, but spyware. Two different types of shitware.

Install this for spyware: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

Install AVG or Avast ot whatever for viri.

IE is evil. Evil!!11one!
Ehrm... first, try and get good antispyware programs, such as Adaware and Spybot, a nice antivirus (AVG, like mentioned before) and run a full search on your PC. After it's all clean again, try and use another browser unless it's absolutely necessary that you use IE. (certain online banking pages aren't compatible with anything but IE, for example.)

If you run a spysweeper scan, it should literally be as simple as a couple of clicks.

Try that. I use that for when I want to get rid of viruses and the like. I also have AVG, but this one seems to be better.
I don't think you should use it unless you have like REAL windows >_>; not pirated windows.

Ah. Practical tip: if you want to Google your porn, search for nude art photography. It's tenfold less likely to be carrying trojans and tons of ads.

Gah, I can't find it. Anyway, you get it from certain videos on myspace. If Myspace asks you to install zango or whatever to watch the movies or something like that, then just say no/cancel it.

You know, some trojans and shit like that send you fake pop ups saying you got a virus and shit... and when you click on it, it just gives you even more. Please tell me you can tell the difference.

Yeah I know it just bloody annoying when I'm posting that I have to re click the browser. If I was playing online like I usually do this would of resulted in me getting the holy hell beat out of me.

No, don't. I had the same problem.

First, get Ad-aware. This will get rid of it. If you can't get rid of it, when you scan, it will tell you which files are infected. Make a note, and go FIND these files, even if it can't delete them.. You should be able to yourself.

Registry entries are usually where these leave remnants, so get CrapCleaner (one I use) in order to clean that up.

SpyBot search and destroy might be able to take care of this, too.

When you next get the ad, post what it says here. Let me know, and I can probably help you.

Also, do this. Right click on the Internet Explorer button, hit properties, and then look at the first tab. Under the "temporary Internet Files" heading, hit "settings". Click "Objects", and see what's there. If there are any unamed items, get rid of them.

That's where my particular "you have virusesss!" ad-spyware mini-app hid from me.

Clear out anything except "macromedia" extensions, and "shockwave" (you may see some extensions from programs you know".

Also, if you have Real Player ... Please uninstall it.

Ask me for more comp. advice if you need. Also, if any files seem to be infected that you're wary about deleting, PM me.

Not happening. What apps do you have to scan with? It may seem "fixed", but it doesn't quite work that way..

As a general rule to get rid of malware:
1) Download and update, Ad-Ware, Spybot, and Ewido as a minimum. Don't scan yet though
2) Search for SmitFraudFix and download it, unzip to a folder c:\smitfraud
3) Reboot, pressing F8 several times just before windows starts to load. If you see the starting windows screen you missed it. If you did it right you'll see a text menu. Select safe mode, command prompt only.
4) You'll get command prompt, where you should type the following commands pressing enter after each. Do not screw up these commands, type em exactly like they are here. Think loaded shotgun. This will most temp folders, and your internet cache/cookies

rd /q/s c:\temp
rd /q/s c:\windows\temp
cd "c:\Documents and Settings"
cd %USERNAME%
cd "Local Files"
rd /q/s temp
del c:\windows\wininit.ini
rd /q/s "Temporary Internet Files"
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost > c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
shutdown -r

The system will reboot, press F8 again to go back to safe mode, this time just normal safe mode not the command prompt only.

5) Start->Run, browse to the c:\smitfraud folder and find the SmitFraudFix.cmd file and click to run (it may not show the .cmd, that's ok). Select option 2 clean and follow the instructions.
6) Once smitfraud finishes, run a scan with all three of the removal tools. They each miss a few, but between the three you should be ok.
7) Reboot and cross your fingers.

Also: You need to do 4 and 6 for every user profile on the system. Thanks to Microsoft's genius one infected profile can infect all of the others, but you can't clean the system completely even from an adminstrator level profile. You might also run into 'access denied' messages deleting folders and files. These can be caused by a lot of different things. Google the cacls command to reset file permissions. Worst case you may need to use BartPE or MiniPE to access the system without booting the infected OS.

Newfront, too. If you want to look at the dirty stuff on newfront you need to install Zango for it.

If you got a popup saying you have an infection, why the hell did you push OK? Hit the 'X', do it again when it reappears. It's a popup geared to that porno portal, and can't infect if you don't push 'OK'.

Did you read my last post here???
If you can't fix the problem... Just search "Hijackthis" on google. There must be some kind of site with people who're specialized at these things. Those people will give you instructions on how to make such a "Hijackthis-log". And they will also give you further instructions on how to get all the shit off your computer.

When I had a trojan, I "deleted" it many times but it kept coming back within 10 minutes or so.

Try :cop: Avast! (http://www.avast.com):cop: it's the best antivirus i've come across and I'm in the IT field so I come across many viruses and antiviruses.
Best thing about Avast! is it's free!!
