I have been told that i have been moved to the last part of a Japanese Exchange program and basically have a 95% chance of getting into it.

I have Japanese family but they are very wealthy, they own a few apartment building in Hiroshima, so basically i dont know what to expect if i live with a not so wealthy family in Japan. So just average middle class.

Anyways to my point a question for those who have done Exchnage or stayed with a Host Family. I have a few questions.

1) Do they usually live near their school?
2) Cleaning, do they have Showers, i know my family did but they said it wasnt a common thing and most still use the Baths.
3) Meal Time, is there a set meal time?
4) What should i buy them if they have young girl and a older girl as presents when i get introduced, cause thats what i did for my family and i expect i will do the same for my Host Family.

Thanks for any help.

1)usually within an hour's train ride away
2)showers are part of the bath, you are supposed to wash yourself before entering the bath. using the tub is optional if you don't wish to.
3)usually, depends on the family
4)that really depends on their tastes. Since you don't know I'd get something general; I brought a huge bag of pistachios for a family I stayed with for a couple weeks. If you want to get individual presents, don't forget the parents.
