I'm just wondering if anyone has seen the FMA (鋼の錬金術師) movie? I personally felt that the ending to the series didn't give the series justice, and I'm just wanting to see the movie so bad.
But yeah, I'd like to see how people who have seen it feel about it... And since it seems quite a few people here currently live in Japan that it would be a good place to ask. ^^

I loved the ending, its was great, the purpose of the serie were met and other problems came, unlike many animes and movies that the writer tell you his version of the story then ends it that, I like when things are left to be interpreter your way or make think about how the whole thing will end. And i'ven seen the movie, i totally forgot about, thx for minding me about it and cheers.
Btw I trying to write stories and believe or not once I’m finished with none of them will tell you how it ends, I think it makes the whole book, anime, movie allot better to let people to make whatever they feel is right in their heart and we are talking about fictional stuff here

I haven't seen the movie and if I can find the link I'll try and post it, but there is a summery of the movie out. It kinda sounds like it ends like the series ends, so I guess I'm not looking as forward to seeing it as I once was.
Which is too bad, because Hagaren is one of my favorites!

I don't even think the movie came out yet, but I'm looking foward to it. It supposedly takes place 2 years after the conclusion of FMA. The only thing I saw of the movie was a picture of Edward dressed in victorian era clothing.

The movie actually came out July 23rd in Japan, but hasn't been released in America... I've seen all the trailors and info about the movie... But the only reviews I've seen of the movie were from people with really wierd tastes... So I was hoping to hear the opinions of maybe a few normal people.
@Shamu: Hmm... Yeah, I was hoping for a more definite end. I mean, open ended with stuff open to interpretation is fine... But when it ends like the series did... I mean all the stuff at the end of the series happened so suddenly and then it just stopped... So yeah. Anything would be better than that. ^^
Though leaving some interpretation to the reader can be seen as artistic and good....after 51 grueling episodes of plot twists and questions and some answers, that ending was NOT what most people wanted. Closure is just as good and sometimes better in my opinion.

i love the series, and am going to start collecting the manga.
For someone who hasn't read before she watched, I thought the series, due to it's budget and all, was excellent. For sure the ending was rushed, but I can totally see the reason why the editors and producers picked the scenes they did.
I can't wait for the movie - i try not to read into it too much because I don't want to spoil it for myself, but I'm really excited for it to come out!

the reason the ending was like that was cause of the movie
and this movie is taking forever to come out and be subbed

Exactly. ._.
@Arvynia: Yeah, that's the main reason I don't want to look stuff up. I don't want to end up accidentally reading the ending the ruining the movie for me. =(

I saw the trailer and it looked awesome...
I wanna see the movie 'cause when I saw the end of the anime, I was really like "wtf, THAT's the end??"... I like those kind of ends but I can't help but want to see what happened after that..... -_-;;

I can only hope that the movie does justice to the anime and does not end up like "End of Eva" which left me with a headache.

Yeah I have seen it, I saw a month or so after it was released. I like how they stuck with L'Arc~en~Ciel for the OP and ending. I also found a DVD quality video file with subtitles, try mininova or something. I did like how the movie picked up where the series left off, it sort of had a cliffhanger but maybe they did that in order to make the movie. It had a good mix of drama and action and the storyline was pretty creative in my opinion.

I saw the whole series. The end was so ridiculous that I just burst out laughing. This 'movie' you speak of... I may have to watch it.

I saw it a few months ago and I loved it. It helps wrap up the series and it had some great animation. In fact, I might watch it again tonight. I think the dub for the movie is coming out in September, and I can't wait for it.
I also recently started reading the comic, and it's amazing how different it is. The first five volumes are pretty similar to part of the series, but there's all sorts of little differences that I can't help but notice since I watched the show first.

The movie was fine. I hate it when people gripe about the closure issue -- few, if any series give you closure. The FMA movie gave the fans what they wanted most in a lot of instances, and that's about as closed as it's going to get.

I heard that there are new OVA's coming up in a few months.
And yes, I've seen and liked the movie.
The Soundtrack is amazing.

I've seen the movie! It was extremely good, and it ended much nicer than the show. The only problem was that the fansubs I had for it had some pretty serious errors (spelling errors that made sentances difficult to understand, as well as the subtitles repeating everything that was said from 5 minutes previous at a pivotal moment.) I am looking forward to a dubbed version.

Ah, I see that I saw the same sub as you did.
Overall, it was a very good movie. I liked how they tied it in with Nazi's. :knockout:
