I need the following translated into English. The sooner the better. Someone must have taken Latin before (pardon the caps)...
collegivm trinitatis sanctissimae

hartfordiae

omnibvs has literas perlectvris savtem in domino

sciatis qvod

<my name>

praeses consentientibvs viris honorandis ac reverendis hvivs collegii
cvratoribvs titvlo gradvqve artivm baccalavrei
adornavit et condecoravit et ei frvenda dedit omnia ivra privilegia
dignitates honores et insignia qvae hic avt vsqvam alibi ad evndem
gradvm evectis concedi solent

cvivs in rei testimonivm literis hisce collegii sigillvm et
praesidis chirographvm apponvntvr

It's obviously my college diploma, but I need the damned thing translated into Japanese, which is well and good, save that it's in bloody latin. Any help is appreciated. Rough translations are okay. It doesn't need to be 600% perfect, just close enough for government work.

Umm, if no one can help you, just put down the name of the college, the date of graduation, your name, and your degree and fake the rest. No one will know (or care about "in the year of our Lord..."). The above is all they will look at anyway...but hopefully someone here can help.

I tried, I really tried but I deliberately failed Latin (I was proving a point at the time).

I can do the obvious bits:

Holy Trinity College

Hartford

You should know that

<name>

Then something about an honorable man has achieved a bachelor of arts
and (maybe) is entitled to all the privileges and honours that ensue. (I struggled a bit here).

As testament to this the current document has been signed.

The date of leaving university was
the year of our Lord 2002

I really hope that someone who paid attention in Latin can help you with this.

I fail. I tried to make it out, but alot of this stuff is kickin my ass. I'll save it and see if I can work it out later.

I took latin for 4 years in high school, and while I couldn't really translate it (those vs!), Bagpuss's version looks pretty damn close when comparing the two...

As it is a college diploma it might be writen in something strange like middle latin. If you are desperate I can ask some friends that did classics at uni (and I said a degree like that would never come in useful) but it might take a few days before I can get hold of them.

Yeah, that's the major reason for my -->:gloomy:<--
.....I was a classical studies minor, and I can't even read Latin anymore. I should have paid more attention in class.

ah. I suppose I can at least be reassured that my latin classes were at school in the dim and distant past.

Whoever thought that reading Latin would actually be useful?
