Sock Full of Boiled Dimes

I was completely oblivious to the fact, but apperently St. Louis, Missouri had some bad storms that it knocked the power out there. Not only did they have a bad storm, but some MASSIVE heat hit that general area. Some 410,000 have/had no power. Why? Some freak storms.
I knew that we were going to get thunderstorms. In fact I thought it would be nice coupled with the fact its been so hot. What I failed to realized that the extream heat had been increased by humidity. Humidity that had been building until a cold front came and gave St. Louis and our town a kick in the bum.
Yesterday I was driving from Jonesboro after visiting the mall and as I was halfway from Hardy, Arkansas and my home town I started to drive into rain. There was no rain behind me I was driving into it. I later leared that there was no warning and I was driving into what was half of a major storm. I thought it was short because I only caught half of it.
There was literally 0 visabillty the rain was so bad. I was just outside of my town when it got so bad that I followed the person behind me on the side of the road. Dunno if it was God or something, but it was intelligence on my part.
When you have rain just gust in a straight line then you know you don't need to drive. In fact this would be the point to hop in the basement. When I made it home total devastation. The only lucky part was that hardly and homes had damaged. There was homes and buisnesses missing roofs and many many many many many many down trees and powerline. I was driving with my mom assesing the damage and actually saw a powerline pole SNAPPED IN HALF! I had no idea how bad it was because I basically caught the last bit of it.
I only JUST got power and the power company has been working non-stop since last night. The only good thing is that the temperatures have went down and everything is getting back to normal.
Basically we've come up with the idea that this was what it was like to be in a category 1 Hurricane. Something I thougt I'd never have to witness unless I moved to a costal area.
Btw I heard that New York got something similar as us and they have been working none stop to get power back up.
This is some freaky weather.
