In June 2005, I campaigned for the presidency of my school's anime club. I used this speech in its entirety:
Friends, otaku, anime fans of all calibers, if I have the honor of your favor, I have come as a beacon of change to revive your souls. For years on end has this humble club endured the regime of impudent dictators. Fear not! I come from lands high above to unshackle the people from the rule of a shallow, narrow government body. My new rule is that of the people: under me shall no decision be made final behind closed doors.
My campaign urges many changes: democracy for the people, a certified delegate to pronounce anime words in announcements correctly, exhibitions of anime not released in the US, a man who simply knows how to work the projector, and a president open enough to make effective agendas for the year with full support of those directly affected.
The time of absolution is at hand. The signs of the final conflict between freedom and disdain are emerging rapidly. The great animation director Hayao Miyazaki said it best: “The 21st century is a complex and unforeseeable epoch. Our thinking habits and our values, which until now looked settled, are being challenged.”
In short, voting for me will give you eternal life! Save the future of mankind- choose Democracy 2005.
However, should <name> embrace defeat this day, I implore you to hold fast your hope. As I am obligated by the powers that be to dedicate my support to this body, my resolute support of the Anime Club, the Anime Network, the Anime Community in general shall always be just that: unconditional and untiring.
I fully intended on challenging the office again. I would like the suggestions and feedback of my loyal forum hoi polloi.
