Note that many English words are simply bastardizations of germanic words. For example, Dutch call them 'Zwaluw', so there's a distinct possibility you took it from us.

Just like the 'white rhino'. The 'white rhino' isn't white, but it's named because the Dutch called it a 'wijd rhinoceraus'. 'Wijde' means 'Wide', for its wide mouth. And hence misconceptions are born.

Either of you ever heard of a dictionary of etymology? And there's nothing weird about rhinocerous. Straight Greek "nose+horn." Ever hear of rhinoplasty? I thought the "cerous" was like "saurus," but apparently it isn't. But that's what those books are for.

English isn't my first language, and I know how to spell 'rhinoceros' and I know what its definition is. Why should I bother looking it up in the dictionary? As I said, it probably means 'something' in another language, and never did I say it was weird. That language was, as you so kindly pointed out; Greek.

In your profile in UserCP you'll see an area that says "Junior member" with a box underneath it. Type something like "My name is Katie" for example and that's what your title will be changed to. :)

I looked in the dictionary, it gave pronunciation key, syllables, and definition, but I didn't see the origin.

Maybe my dictionary's just out of date. It's an old one from like early 2000s.
