I'm talking the Scots, people, flash your nads at the Brits in skirts, not those pseudo-goths who are all about cutting off heads and whatnot, what'll you place your wagers on?
Personally, I go for Vikings, because apparently I look Norwegian. Which is suprising, because my family is from Italy. For those of you who don't know your geography, those two places are about as far apart as the Bush administration is from Common Sense Island.
Vikings, also, because they have the best mythos nobody knows about. Looting and pilliaging all the way, man!
But, on the other hand, Highlanders took on the largest empire that wasn't Rome/Islamic/Egyptian/Babylonian/Whatever, and had the nerve (should I say "balls"?) to flash them before hand.

I don't really care.
I just wish time travel existed, so I could see all the "goth" dipshits we have these days get slaughtered by the true goths, who would probably be enraged that their name had been tarnished.
And yes, I know that the goths we have these days derive their title from gothic arcitecture, not the old tribe. Thing is, the true goths wouldn't give a shit, they'd still get enraged, and I'd still be greatly entertained. It would all be for the best in the end.
Pros:
The true goths would be happy
The present-day goths would be dead
I'd be entertained
Cons:
Cleaning up afterwards
3 to 1 = win.

I'd be more interested in seeing the Goth tribe take on Goth arcitecture.

Vikings because Norse mythology is the shit.
Actually the goths of today take their name from Gothic literature. I had a whole book abouts Goths( the kind of today) and it explained the whole history of things with the label gothic. It was a pretty good & funny read, but it was stolen less than a week after I got it.

Hmm, thats tricky! I have both Viking AND Scottish blood in my veigns.
On one hand you have kilts and claymores.
On the other you have pirating, pillaging, and Thor.

Hmmmm....tough choice. The whole kilt thing is pretty hot, but since I'm mostly of Scandinavian decent, I'll have to go with Vikings. Pillage on!
And yeah Kokujin, the Minnesota Vikings suck, that's why I'm a Greenbay fan...wait, I guess that's not much better :p

The truth is really that viking berserker were really just a bunch of frowning madmenn in undies who was really high on mushrooms and stuff. Sure i guess its really scary to see a frowning madman running towards you in his undies, but i would not put them as world class fighters...

Nah, I'm in Texas now, but I used to be in Iowa, so we pretty much get to pick whatever team we want. I picked Greenbay because Brett Favre is hot (yeah, I know that's a shallow reason to pick a team, but hey, I am a girl)

Don't forget that vikingr were only a small portion of the Scandinavian population. I'm sure it went through periods of popularity when many people went a-viking (like the viking attacks on britain). However they were also one of the first major seafaring races, having discovered greenland and vinland. The Vikings were just the people who decided to leave their farms during the off-season and raid other countries. Whereas Highlanders were the entire scots race (for the most part).
I believe that the highlanders would beat the Vikings as it is most probable that they would meet (and fight) on land. As the Vikingr would have been sailing for many weeks to reach the raiding spot, whereas highlanders would have been fully rested and ready for a fight on dry land, the highlanders would probably win.

I'm part Norwegian, Belgian, German, Polish, and Lithuanian... so I have to go with Vikings, although the Scot's revolt against England was indeed pretty spectacular. Some have suggested it was examples like their's that inspired the colonists to revolt against Britain.
Regarding the football comments, I'm a Lion's fan so I've had it worse than the Vikings with disappointment, hehe. The Lions haven't won a national champioinship since the 1950's, but I am still cheer for them regardless, not a fair weather fan. They do have a good looking offense this year and should do well on that end if Harrington steps up. Not sure yet what I think of their defense.

Vikings. Because they did, indeed, conquer those they're being compared to on this thread. During the Viking expansion they pillaged, but also settled, much of the coastal regions of what is now Scotland (and in the process unifying the Scots and the Picts), England and Ireland. They intermarried with the local people and assimilated quite well. There are periods of local rule as well as Viking rule in much of the UK.
The later Highland Scots that lifted their skirts at the Brits probably had a heaping helping of both native Scottish as well as Viking bloodlines. Scary combo.

The Vikings were pillagers as well as settlers and they did so deep into the Mediterranean. You could very well have a Norwegian in the woodpile back in your Italian ancestry.

I'm currently in a class at school called THE VIKING AGE. Vikings were badass. I'd definitely place my bet on them.

considering where i am, i have to go for highlanders, if you see the size of william wallaces broad sword, its in a museum here, it gives an understanding of what sort of size he would have been to swing something that size around, and the truth was he was more likely a bandit that united the people, whereas rober the bruce was another scottish hero. but highlanders for the win, and on a side note they named the immortal, highlander....think of it that way.....immortal!
