I'm looking at signing up for a cell phone with Willcom because they got the Flat Rate plan for 2900 yen basic charge a month deal:

And then if my gf get's one too we can do unlimited talk/email for free. But some people have said that Willcom isn't very good and that it doesn't have very good reception.
Anyone here have a cell with Willcom? Any opinions?
I have a Willcom zero 3.
Actually, Willcom is not a cell phone provider but PHS provider.

If you and your girlfriend are going to Inaka place regularly, Willcom is not a good choice.
But you live in big city like Tokyo and just to talk each other, Willcom is the best, I think.
PHS's audio quality is better than cell phone.

Wow that's pretty interesting actually. I didn't know anything about PHS.
I'm going to be moving to Fujisawa, which is about 50 minutes from Tokyo station on the Tokaido line. Would reception suffer at all out there? Or do you think that would be pretty much the same as in Tokyo?
How does your PHS compare to regular cell phones for sending email/pictures etc.? Is there any difference? On that article it also talks about problems with PHS on fast moving vehicles.. does that mean you aren't able to email on trains? Or talk while in a car?
You have many questions.:eyepop:
1. Fujisawa is fine. I live in near Fujisawa.
2. PHS handsets have strong e-mail and picture function.
3. I have no problem on trains, vehicles. even on Shinkansen.
The only problem is that when you are going to the middle of the no where, you could not receive the signal.
There are lots of Japanese couple who get willcom handsets to talk free. It is called 'Will-tomo'(Willcom friends).
