has anyone read this book? I've seen the drama and have 1/2 of the translation. I feel it is really good and heart warming. It really makes you think and have you become thankfull for what you have. If anyone else has read this book I would love to hear your insight.

I'm not sure what to say. It's a heartbreaking story, and in some ways, Aya seems almost too good to be true. The drama seems the same way, but moreso in some sense.

If you end up liking the drama and want more of the genre (girl dies of disease, boyfriend is left behind), there's Sekai no Chuushin De and Beautiful Life.

Aya does seem too good to be true wich I feel makes this story even sadder (real word?). I can relate alot with Aya tho. I don't like to be a fuss to others even if they don't think I am being one, I feel like I am. Watching her do it really upsetting as well. Just knowing what the end result will be.

The fact that the words she left behind in her diary were so direct, honest, and often surprisingly optimistic is the reason that her story became famous. The disease she was inflicted with isn't terribly rare, unfortunately, but she was one of the few sufferers with such a positive outlook and ability to convey her thoughts so clearly in writing.

I've heard of it, but I've haven't seen it. I heard it's good, but don't plan on having happy day after watching it.

I have that movie, but I haven't seen it yet. (too scared :box:) Though the theme song is quite nice.

It's not a movie, it's a drama. 11 episodes, IIRC.

I'm pretty sure it was made into a film as well, although I've only seen the drama.

My bad... I just looked it up.

I can't imagine it being as good as the drama was. >.>

I love the drama!! I seriously cried:box: <_< This drama is the only "movie" which made me cry<_<:frypan: The end sucked though... Where the hell were her friends, her little brother and sisters at her funeral???

Probably omitted for practical considerations -- aging.

I have Sekai no Chuushin De (movie, not the drama version) as well and haven't seen it yet simply because I didn't know what it's about. :)
