View Full Version : What the Internet Taught Me

Don't follow suspicious forum links.

But, seriously, I was reading a few posts on here and it came to me exactly how different I am since I actually started seriously using the internet about three years ago. I’ve gone through a few “circles” of internet life and in most of the places I’ve gone, I’ve learned something (even if it was only “don’t follow suspicious forum links” :) ). Even here. In my (admittedly limited) experience, forums generally attract a large crop of idiots and a tiny number of idiot-handlers. This place actually seems to have intelligent life (or at least fairly inaudible unintelligent life). Thanks for the thought-provoking (like “What the Rest of the World Thinks of America”) and not-so thought-provoking (…) threads and posts. And it’s interesting to know what people older (and presumably wiser) than I think of the world. As 16-year-old girls and men and women in their 20’s/30’s/40’s/etc don’t really move in the same social groups, I don’t think I could have gotten it elsewhere. So, anyway, to end this post, thanks internet. For not letting school get in the way of my education. :)

I like the internet. What really can we say? This isn;t like a thought boggling thread or anything. :p

"thanks internet. For not letting school get in the way of my education"

You may want to read the topic regarding algebra.

I know, not a though-provoking thread. I was bored and decided to post something. Not always the best of decisions, but I'm 16. I occasionally have the right.

And, akitaka, I was quoting Mark Twain. I find the things I learn in school to be perfectly valid (up to and including Algebra).

The internet taught me that people can stretch their arses really wide.

And, yes, the internet can be nice for making you think and helping you understand the viewpoints of people you normally wouldn't really talk to. It's also nice for making you want to gouge out your eyes, dang misleading links...

I liove the insight this place has given me. Just by reading the serious threads I'm better in civics.

I've always found the net brilliant for bursting misconceptions. Oh, and occasionally getting flames on my writing. Nothing encourages you more as a writer than people abusing you for spelling with correct english.

It's a good place to leak all the naked photos of your friend's girlfriend you stole from him while he's sleeping. Not that I'm advocating it.

The internet is SERIOUS BUSINESS.

What the internet taught me is skeptism, that drama sucks and people take shit they see way too seriously.

The internet is for complete strangers like all of us to co-mingle with each other and fraternize about a very strangle African-American working as a teacher in Japan.
