Outpost nine was blockedby China for 24 hours, I JUST got back on. My experience is that if they block a site once, they'll block it again. Usually within the same week, and sometimes they'll let it back just to torture you.

and this keeps up for an entire month. Then it's inaccesable for an entire week. and then its back. and then it will have random blocks that drive you nuts.

...or next time it'll be a permanent block. good god no.

Why would they do this? We love you China, whe love the chairman. serious. nothing against you. Communism roxx! and everybody here hates japan because China was not able to conquer it. and the war and all...Please don't block OP9, dear communists. You can even use it to spy on your enemy, we have a lot of agents here.

Censure is bad, corruption is bad. But I trust in the chinese government that they can solve these problems. I don't think it is necessary to block words like democracy, every clever man knows that you can't govern a 3 Billion people country with democracy, too many different opinions...

No serious, althou they look evil, I trust the chinese government to fight such useless censures for sites like OP9. Maybe the fight already started? this would explain temoprary blocks...

Good luck, my chinese friends!

There are programs specifically designed to bypass the Great Firewall.

You know, my brother in law is a jack ass when it comes to his firewall and blocking random things, I don't think I could deal with a country that paid people to act like him. :/

Yao: Is LJ blocked? http://www.livejournal.com

If not, we can always revive the list on there and just post the new editorials as they come out...

so... i was just wondering. If i were to say

"PLease don't send me to the countryside!"

would the people in mainland china get the joke?

sorry i just had another 24 hour lock down. :S

no livejournal is okay at the moment, but they've had lockdowns too. i'm wary of programs that i dont know by nature, that's why i used to use anonymouse. but if i get desperate maybe.

Strange, I haven't had any problems with this site, so I don't think it's a central government thing. Anonymouse has been working fine too. Perhaps it's your ISP being dicks instead - who are you with?

Tor ( http://tor.eff.org/ ) is a trustworthy proxy program, from EFF, and it's designed to be hard to block access to. It's still pretty slow compared to normal surfing though, so don't use it unless you have to, and some sites stop Tor users from posting comments because a lot of spammers use it.

For the Google Cache, did you try using google.cn?

You could try this if you use firefox.
