I had a yelling point discussion with someone today about Affirmative Action.

As you should all know I am a Centrist. I believe that affirmative action makes sense, but I think the problem is that it only helps disadvantage members of minorities. It basically ignores middle and upper class. I think basically it should be set up to help get people in poverty out of poverty maybe in some sort of walefare type system.

Somehow though still keep everything in education and workplace all equally.

I dunno I think it's current system isn't working.

What's everyone's else opinion on it?

Anyways. To me it's simple.

Affirmative action = Unfair

Edit: I said 'biased' at first. What i really meant was unfair.

I think affirmative action should be abolished! I don't see how it's fair to reward someone for being a certain race while punishing another. It's not like we can chose or ethnicities. Sounds pretty racist to me...And it's definintely possible to succeed even if you're a minority. There's plenty of successful minorities. So, what is exactly the line of poverty? How would one decide who's poor enough and who's not? Just by income?
