I am on conference call in Canada, the Americans Neighbour; the conference got to do with living values. today our first day at the confernce call; A white candian lady with triagle face lectures us on simplicity and this what she said on simplicity:Simplicity grows from sacred roots, embodying a wealth of spiritual virtues and values made apparent by attitude, words, activities, and lifestyle. Simplicity is beautiful, and like the moon, it radiates coolness in contrast to the effulgence of the sun. Simplicity is natural. It may appear common and without appeal to those whose vision has become habituated by superficiality. However, to those with an artist’s refined insight, a glimpse of simplicity is enough to recognize the masterpiece. As the only African in journalist can someone interpret to me in another what she mean?

Not at all. It sounds like a horrible metaphor and you'll probably get better results emailing her about it.

You shit me not?

Seriously though - I don't understand a word you're saying. It's not just the African journalist that doesn't understand.

Please, feel free to switch to English at any time.

I think she was try to say:

We are often so distracted by complexity of things that we fail to appreciate the benefits of simplicity.

She appears to not practice what she preaches.

This is why I dislike Canada. Really nice peopl, hands down, but they make no sense. For god sakes people, they call their one and two dollar coins Loonies and Twoonies!

(sigh)

Setric is correct. She's being too complex in explaining her point.

It may appear common and without appeal to those whose vision has become habituated by superficiality. Wow, thanks for the 'simple' speech. I'm sensing a passive smart-alec right there.

I've got another example of what she could have said:
"We lose the joys of simplicity when we push for something different."

Make a socially exemplary follow-up, and we've saved another few minutes of thinking.

Thats what they are named, but rarely anyone SAYS that...
its just "you got a dollar/two bucks?"
never "you got a loonie/toonie?"

anyways, ive got the same idea akitaka and setrict have

He's from NIGERIA people!! Not Canada...

Reading comphrension and context clues are sooooo important!

We know that he's from Nigeria; the above posters are burning the lady who was giving the speech. Ardo was confused, and wrote down what he heard, simple as that.

I'll admit that Jay and Praetorian were being a little harsh, however. Ardo still seems to be learning; we all know how much English can suck.

I'm referring to those being so hard on his English.

Sounds like she likes things simple. Was she refering to anything in particular or was she just ranting that she like things to be uncomplicated?

Woa there turbo! Let's not get ahead of ourselves with the Canada is great line. I like Snowboarding at Big White and Whistler, but I certainly wouldn't want to live there. Simple things are made complicated, as we can see above.

I think it's a joke. She's saying all that crap and all she's really saying is..

Keep It Simple Stupid.

It's something I would do, and being canadian, well, we all think alike.

Uh, how was I harsh? I just pointed out I knew as little as he did. Stop misunderstanding me.

Hmm....let's see....I've never been good with metaphors, but this is how I see it. Each person defines his or her own personality by their attitude, words, activities, and lifestyle, among other factors, like emotions and experience. Many simple details come together to make up the whole picture, but some people don't take the time to examine the details. Looking at the whole picture isn't enough, but to examine the little details, like shape, color, mood, etc., enables you to understand the full picture better. Does that make any sense?

^Please stop spamming two-worded posts. It's only adding senseless traffic.

Hmm. I like Canada just because it's the opposite of Arizona. Cold, less smelly, and isn't filled with scorpions. I went to a camping trip up there, and it's rather beautifle. You wouldn't have suspected the looser gun laws than here in the states.

And tell me, to derail this topic further, do you all really keep your doors unlocked (non-ghetto, please)?

It seems to me that Alberta has reached a surplus of $2.8 billion, 'no? Cheap living there compared here in B.C

And I call these loonies/twoonies a buck or two bucks.

I like when ppl generallize people into one big category
"canada sucks" and "canadians make no sense"
Not all of canada sucks..not all of canada makes no sense.
Maybe you guys were j/k.. But its just like people in Japan (or anywhere) assume every one in the US owns a million guns! Even Az experienced it..when ( I think) a student asked him "how many" guns he owned.

I am canadian and I just don't like being considered the same as every other canadian.

And twonies and loonies are great. *lol*
