Anyone know if poker is becoming popular in Japan? I've heard a few reports but am not sure as I couldn't find it when i was there.

I've taught poker to my local bartenders. I won 15,000 yen last night in fact. I also know a bar (though owned by an Irishman) that runs a poker night as well. I don't think the craze is equivalent to what it is in the US, however, but that shouldn't be a shock.

Texas Hold 'Em and 7-card stud (2-4-1). Probably play 'em wrong, being, y'know, not an expert poker player or anything, but it's fun.

The reason I left Japan was to persue poker. I even played in the $10k buy-in main event at the World Series of Poker. But it is a very tough profession.

Jesus Christ man, yeah, you're not going to be happy in Japan most likely then.
