I have seen this video a couple of days ago and it truly disgusts me. They shouldnt even give these people a chance to voice their rantings on national television. She is clearly just trying to get her message across instead of discussing it with the presenters.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but this lady is nuttier then a squirrels stash. This isnt even an opinion, it's spreading hate.

Aye, if it was a normal opinion, I'd take it with a pinch of salt, but if someone in my family died, and there were a bunch of inbred arsecandles waving "anti-everything" signs at or near the funeral...I think I'd end up being the one that would go to hell, as I wouldn't be able to hold back my anger!!

Are these types of people common in middle america?

You know anything that goes on Hannity's show is gonna be a little bonkers.

This lady is seriously scary though. I read about these crazy assholes awhile back on CNN. To all the people in my Religion thread, this is a good example of religion controlling people's minds...

The scariest thing about her is her :eyepop:crazy:eyepop:eyes:eyepop:.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v611/TheBeowulf/untitled.jpg

The funniest part is that her "church" has about 100 members. She says that 80% of that is her family. 80 people. That is one hell of a huge family.

I don’t even know what to say. People like this are just jaw-dropping and leave me speechless.

I’m not a very religious practicing person, but I know a lot about it and a lot about religious beliefs from a lot of religions (as I’m sure a lot of people here do too). People like this just boggle my mind.

How can these people think they’re being true to God by being so hateful, praising the deaths of these soldiers, causing pain instead of trying to avoid it? If these people honestly think that doing this is getting them on God’s good side, then I truly feel sorry for them.

As they were saying, they only had a church of less than 100 people, 80% being family. This must mean that this was how they were raised, that this was drilled into their heads over and over as children, so it’s pointless to try to convince them that they’re wrong.

Now, looking at it from outside the religious reasons...

Teaching these people that “people will hate us, but we are right,” is one of the worst things you can do to a person. It makes for very arrogant, socially inept people. You can tell how it has affected this woman by how she always interrupts, never lets the other person get their point/question out, and really just doesn’t listen to a word they say.

The scariest thing about her is her crazyeyes.
Her crazy eyes weren’t as creepy as her never-ending SMILE. *shudders*

That IS what the Bible says though. You will be hated for being a follower of Jesus. If the master was persecuted, so will the servant be. And let me ask you something, if it was 9/10/01 and you knew for a fact that 9/11/01 would occur as it has... except you didn't know the specific details... would you shut up about it? Would you just bide your time and say nothing?

On the topic of the dead... they're dead, there is nothing you can do for the dead. They're fate has been decided.

Do I agree about protesting at a funeral? No. But on the surface what they are doing IS biblical... which is praising God regardless of the outcome, even if the outcome sucks. Now would I say that's in good tastes to be doing that a funeral? Nope.

Anyways, America is not a Christian country. It's also kinda funny how this guy says the soldiers die to give people the right to protest. You always have the right to protest, nobody except God can take that away. What the soldiers are dying for is the right to protest without repercussions. Big difference. I could go to Iraq and protest Islam. I have the right to do that. Of course, my ass would be killed in less than 5 minutes.

The problem is that a lot of people don't try to view all of the angles. It's a hard thing to do... to try and think like somebody you think is insane. I've been an athiest and I've been what some would call a bible bumper. Now I'm thoroughly disgusted with the "church" and "christians" in America and equally disgusted with athiests who push their own agendas.

But you know what? The bigger danger is these fake and false Christians. The type of people who drive around with big fat NOTW stickers but cut you off on the highway.

Believe it or not, I do believe that God is punishing America. He is punished American "christians" by putting one of "their own" into office and showing them just how idiotic they are. I can't begin to tell you how disgusted I am by the amount of gossip, backstabbing, and stupid politics has gone on in the churches I went to. Or how happy people were when they got their tax refund for tithing. Yes, I gave 10% of my paycheck to the church. Yah... and then your gross income was lowered because of it... so in effect, you didn't really give 10% of your paycheck to the church you bloody hypocite.

I told everyone just how much of a quagmire iraq would be. Nobody listened. In fact, I had a lot of "fellow Christians" insult me and tell me I was going against God. But everything I said would happen happened.

The simple fact of the matter is that 99% of the people in this country DO NOT THINK ABOUT THE FUTURE. This is why we have so much debt, this is why we have such a huge pension and insurance crisis. This is why we have an education crisis. Nobody considers tommorow, just how to have the most fun today... and the only reason the gravy train in America hasn't stopped is because other countries are investing in us. You all know we have a huge trade deficit. What you probably didn't know is that all payments in and out of a country MUST BALANCE OUT. Which means that we've been receiving huge cash inflows from other countries. We're also seeing the dollar depreciate. Everyone moans and complains about it but they don't realize that it's actually good. For one, it decreases or foreign buying power (which will have a tiny positive effect on our huge deficit)... second, it will also increase our exports because they will be in effect, cheaper. It's just a bloody shame that this country doesn't really export anything that people actually need.

Yes... I went all over with this post. I'm just pissed off at everybody for being stupid and not considering the future or their own selfish needs.

On another note... that lady shares the same problem that I see in pretty much every Church... that gays are a lessor form of humanity. God doesn't hate gays, He hates their sin. If He hated gays then Jesus would have been sure to mention an exclusion clause like: "Oh by the way, if you're gay, I'm not saving you."

It makes me sick how churches will happily accept an adultress over a gay person. Both are sinning... what makes one better than the other? Or how about Churches that support lying? I used to go to a church where the pastor encourage a woman to lie to her husband. WEEEEEEE.

SDSUMarcus01
04-26-2006, 06:50 AM
And yes... I'm not done talking yet.

The method of "preaching" they are using isn't Biblical. Neither the disciples nor Jesus exampled it. In fact, you really do not see Biblical preaching today at all.

Want to know why? Because if you do it you're "life" will always been on the line. It's much easier to get fat and preach from an airconditioned room than to go to.. say... afghanistan and interrupt a mosque and start talking about Jesus. But that's exactly what they did in the Bible... well not mosques but synagouges.

Well, like you said about thinking about the future, Marcus. Who could you call? The police? Dial 411 and ask for the Secretary of Defense’s phone number? What would you really hope to accomplish by telling everyone that there is going to be a terrorist attack the next day? People wouldn’t belive you. You’re just a crazy, paranoid lunatic.

Then, wham! Next morning, disaster. Everyone’s in shock and awe even though you warned them. There are many things that could happen afterwords. Bad things. They could think you were an accomplice. I don’t think anybody would want to spend their day explaining to the government how you knew it was going to happen. Word would get around and you could end up in a lot of trouble.

Yes, you knew something tragic was going to happen and that a lot of people were going to die, but there’s not a lot you can do about it.

Sorry.. But thats the EXACT URL.. Nuts eh?

Anyways. I just want to know how the HELL Are these idiots still ALIVE? I know if they ever showed up at a funeral in my home town their chance of survival would be less then a snowball in center of the sun.
I just can't belive these people exsist.. Protesting with signs about God hates Fags outside the funerals of soldiers that have died in action? I mean.. Holy crap.. Instant death I would think in many hometowns..
Not to mention the fact that most people impose there own feelings about homosexuality onto God.. THEY think it's disgusting so GOD thinks that.. When the Bible itself says that every sin is equal.. Yep, did you mouth off to your dad? Well you might as well have taken one in the butt because in God's eyes, it's the same thing pally. You don't see churches protesting "Honor your mother or DIE MOFO!" do ya? The Hypocrocy is overwhelming..

Sigh.

And I usually hate Fox news, but I wanted that newscaster to open up both barrels. And I'm usually very against making any form of protest illegal.. but...

Uh guys, as a borderline theologist, lets keep the "church" and "religion" blaming ot a minimum. This woman is a radical and is undoubtedly insane. Saying that she is an example of "religion" is like saying that all Americans are like Timothy McVeigh.

-----------------------------------------

That IS what the Bible says though. You will be hated for being a follower of Jesus. If the master was persecuted, so will the servant be.
Whoa buddly, remember to keep things in context okay? Yes the bible says that you will be persecuted. By the Romans mostly.

And let me ask you something, if it was 9/10/01 and you knew for a fact that 9/11/01 would occur as it has... except you didn't know the specific details... would you shut up about it? Would you just bide your time and say nothing?
What is your point?

Do I agree about protesting at a funeral? No. But on the surface what they are doing IS biblical... which is praising God regardless of the outcome, even if the outcome sucks. Now would I say that's in good tastes to be doing that a funeral? Nope.
No, wrong. What they are doing is in no way biblical. What they're doing is using the bible to further their radical beliefs. The only thing biblical at those funerals are the priests over the coffins. Keep in mind that praising God regardless of the outcome isn't biblical. According to the actual bible, the way to be biblical is live in accordance with the rules of God and his son, while teaching the love of Christ. This:
http://www.godhatesamerica.com/ghfmir/images/2005/20050624_bowling-green-funeral.jpg
is in no way biblical. It is evil, manipulative, and hateful.

Techinically America is a christian country due to the fact that the various sects of christianity comprise about (I think it was) 70% of our population. And I think that the phrase "without repercussions" was implied by the man who spoke it.

Now I'm thoroughly disgusted with the "church" and "christians" in America and equally disgusted with athiests who push their own agendas.
I'm a christian, are you disgusted with me? Careful about making these broad statements as they are awfully easy to misconstrue.

I believe that God doesn't give a shit about America or any other country (pm me if you wish to know more or have questions or critical analysis to offer, I'll move it to my religion thread as this one is rather cluttered). I also can't imagine why a christian as president would be seen as bad or idiotic by God. The fundamentalist Christians didn't put Bush into office, everyone else who voted for him did (fundamentalists only comprised about 30% of Bush's vote totals). Also were you a Mormon, are you just talking about Mormons in general (the whole 10% thing...)?

-----------------------------------------

Or maybe you're the one in for the surprise. I don't know, I'm not God, and I won't claim to be talking to him either. But you should try to think about what happens if YOU'RE WRONG.
Despite the fact that he was misinterpreting Citizen's words I'm going to expand upon this. You see these people's absolute faith is what makes them so dangerous. Absolute faith leads to absolute conviction which leads to absolute judgement. These people are entirely incapable of admitting that they are wrong or at fault in what they do (watch the tape, when they start asking her what her sins are she avoids not just the question, but the very thought itself). This is a very scary thing to me. You know who else has conviction like this? Suicide bombers.

-----------------------------------------

To be honest, I'd give much of a damn about what will happen to me when I die. There's nothing to think about.
I just prefer to think that the day I die will be a very interesting day indeed (again if you wish to discuss this subject, best move it to the religion thread).

-----------------------------------------

And by the way, I hope you weren’t referencing me as one of the “stupid people who don’t think about the future over their own selfish needs.”
Like I said, he really needs to watch his generalizations.

-----------------------------------------

I was talking about everybody... you can tell the topic of each paragraph (or even mid paragraph) changes quite a bit. I don't know you, so I wasn't referencing you.

Fred Phelps isn't a Baptist. He was thrown out of a legitimate church when he tried to build a cult of personality around himself. He's a crook who has scammed people for money and used bogus lawsuits to extort money from others.

When no one else would follow him, he formed his own "church" which consists almost entirely of his family and a few others who married into the family. Two of his sons have split from the family and tell horrors stories of abuse, being forced to sell candy door to door or they'd be beaten worse. Phelps pushed one of the son's fiancee into suicide and a daughter who is estranged from the family is a very abused, messed up drug addict. According to both his sons and the estranged daughter, Phelps beat his wife regularly as well.

He's an intolerant bigot who, like David Koresh and a few others, have warped the Bible to justify their own hatred. He's brainwashed his entire family into a cult of hatred surrounding him.

Do NOT mistake him in any way, shape or form for a real Baptist. He's a con man, crook and a bigot.

I find it astounding the way some people feel can claim with such convication *exactly* how God, as they see God, thinks and feels about certain issues.

As an example, let's take a look at this a little closer to home. If I, on the grounds of having, say, read Azrael's editorials 100 times each, then started saying to people on the messageboards things like 'Azrael things you're...' or 'Azrael hates people that talk about Kancho!' and that sort of thing, you'd think I was mad.

Anyway, I don't agree with what the woman in the video was talking about, nor do I understand where she is coming from. No matter how much she tries to use the bible to back up her claims, however, doing so makes her no more so than I am Japanese if I were to walk around saying I am. Ie. not at all.

I wouldn't call anybody directly. How would it look?

You call someone to tell them there's going to be a terrorist attack, either the attack happens or is stopped... and either way you spend the next few decades in some secret prison being interrogated as to how you knew about it and what your connections are.

So assuming I'd do *anything*... I'd either find some way to forcefully evacuate the towers (even if that means setting off my own, smaller bombs) or find some way to stop the terrorists from boarding the planes/stop the planes from taking off. Or all of that if possible.

Back on topic: At least they aren't boycotting Disneyland anymore.

Ahh Phelps and the freaks, these boys are lacking friends from any quarter except the very very strictest narrow sighted christians that believe that 2 guys bumping uglies is worse than any sin that any terrorist or child molester has ever commited. Thankfully a very small but extremely loud minority.

When 90% of the people who surround your flock think that your all assholes, then its only a matter of time before somebody plows through them with a wayword pickup durring a "prayer vigil". I personally believe it will end up being a fed up southern conservative christian ex-milliatary type attending one of these funerals that reaches the breaking point first and does the honor for the rest of us. What they should be truely thankful is they don't go to the wrong funneral. I know one too many soldiers/exsoldiers who if you showed up to their friends funeral, you would get a bullet in the head. He may goto jail but he would kill someone who was so disrerespectful they would do that. Me personally, if my best freind died and one of those people showed up at his funeral calling him gay, and he was going to hell because he served, I would would kill them and get away with it. Not only that I would make them see the bullet coming to so that "their lord god" can bless their brain casing.

I am AMAZED that the news reporter managed to keep a relatively calm tone while she said those...horrible things, I for one would not have been able to contain myself. Truly unbelievable that we have people who think in this sick way existing in the world, they should be rounded up and locked away to rot, then we can ask them how they feel about the 'Wrath of God'.

Thank God for AIDS? what the fuck, seriously, I struggle to comprehend the mentality :/, it goes against human nature. These insane people are just as evil as Saddam Hussain, Osama, whatever, absolutely zero compassion for human life. Then she laughed when it was asked 'what is wrong with you' - a true sign of madness I would say. She doesnt even see it as a serious issue?! I can't even find the words that can truly express how I feel about what that woman and her 'parish' are doing. I had heard of this before, but seeing it, just brings it so much closer to home.

One day, these people are going to go too far, and like others have said, get what they are asking for. Then again, by resulting to violence to deal with these types of people, only serves to make martyrs out of them. Like MRirian has said, I am glad that those bikers are participating in a non-violent counterattack to these misguided protestors.

May God have mercy,
Nai

I think if violence was used against these people, no one would care.

Everyone would just nod in agreement with the violence; of course this will result in people using violence against other groups they don't like, so we have to let Phelps walk around with his sign making a fool out of him self.

I am a Christian and I must say this...

WHAT THE HELL!?

"Vengence is mine sayith the Lord"

"Judge lest not ye be judged"

These people absoloutly have no right to do what they are doing. Most likely they got a hell fearing preacher up her saying that God is striking vengence on this country for being so immoral.

Okay this country IS immoral, but please shut the hell up. Even non Christian's know this country is immoral. Half of them don't even care. What you are doing is shoving a message down the throat of an unkowing mass who most likely have a bad view on Christianity to begin with.

THIS IS NOT THE MESSAGE OF GOD AND JESUS!

ARGH!

I lol'd out REALLY loud.
Another motherfucker that uses religion as an excuse and defense for war.
I hate it when people do that, its what gives religion such a bad name and its, to be honest, makes me question every religious person who bases their descisions and views on life on 'The word of the lord'.

Get it right, it obviously states that "Judge Greer = Poo-Head." Its some sort of complex equation on their part.

These are the kinds of people that went to Matthew Sheppard's funeral with signs that say "God Hates Fags" and "Thank God for AIDS" and "Matthew Sheppard is now burning in Hell," complete with pictures of Sheppard pasted onto drawings or photos of flames.

I wouldn't give them the attention they're so dying for. But being me, if one of them ends up murdered, you know I will go to their funeral with signs saying, "God Hates People Who Takes His Words and Use Them To Promote Their Agenda of Hate and Bigotry" and "HAHA, You Got Murdered, Which Is Exactly What You Deserve," complete with pictures of Nelson from The Simpsons pointing and laughing.

No, these aren't the kind of people who protested at Matthew Shepard's funeral. They ARE the people who protested at Matthew Shepard's funeral.

To be fair, these people are not using religion to justify war. They happen to be opposed to this war. That's why they say "God loves dead soldiers," "Soldiers deserve to die," and say that the people who died in the Sept. 11 attacks deserved it as well.

They just take delight in other people's misery (and their money).

OMG, that should so be Virginia's new motto, "72 virgins was meant to read 72 Virginians."

That "Virginia is for Lovers" thing only applies if you have a colonial fetish. Unless you live in Northern VA, Richmond, and Williamsburg, and on the other side of the Chesapeake Bay, the rest is rural Southern living.

On Good Morning America March 18th, 2003 in response to the censorship of flag drapped coffins from the soliders in Iraq, Barbara Bush said

"Why should we hear about body bags & death? I mean, it's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on that?"

"I watch none. He [former President Bush] sits and listens and I read books, because I know perfectly well that, don't take offense, that 90 percent of what I hear on television is supposition, when we're talking about the news. And he's not, not as understanding of my pettiness about that. But why should we hear about body bags, and deaths, and how many, what day it's gonna happen, and how many this or what do you suppose? Or, I mean, it's, it's not relevant. So, why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that? And watch him suffer."

At least put the complete quote.

My god can pimp-slap your god and take his lunch money!

Yeah, the Phelps family is something of an embarassment to the town they reside in. I was listening to the morning AM radio talk shows enroute to work and one caller was from that place. he sounded pretty beat down and was very eager to let people know that the Phelps family/religion was on their own.

By the way, their usage of "baptist" in their title was not condoned by the greater council. Pretty much on their own.

I've only seen about half of this, but when the crazy bitch said "we are the church of jesus christ" and the reporter said "...you don't like jews." immediatlely afterwards, I thought that was pretty ironic. So you hate your lord and saviour?

Edit: "Jews are the real Nazi's?" HAHAHAHA!!! Damn, is the irony thick or what?

So, since their "God" is invoking it's wrath on America, who thinks they're in cahoots with al-qaeda?

I'm not saying muslims or christians are terrorists, it's just that both al-qaeda and westboro exploit religion to hate.
