View Full Version : Racism doesn't exsist? Lies and Propaganda!

For all of those who don't know or failed to read my first post I work at a grocery store. The store is aptly named Country Mart which, I guess, is named for its southern good home deals. Or maybe whoever shops there is an ignorant redneck.

I digress.

I have been working there roughly a month being the longest I have ever worked at a job.

A little back story: I got fired from two different fast food service jobs. One when I was 16 and the other when I was 17. *crosses fingers for a trilogy* I suck at my current job and I'm sure everyone is aware. Its not that I don't know how to do it, but rather I have lost interest in my work. I stopped caring and just went with the flow hoping to keep getting paid until they realize I suck so hard and fire me. OR I could just pick up my pace and actually figure out the meaning of hard work, but the requires way too much effort on my part.

ANYWAY, back to the back story.

The first job I ever had was Dairy Queen and I got fired from it. Why? I wasn't enthusiastic enough. I had a dumb streak back then where I wouldn't lie so whenever someone asked me if I liked my job I would tell them the truth, "This job can suck it." I would literally tell my bosses. A wonder how I ever got fired. That and I was a depressed prick who was too hung up on a girl that I liked. I'm retarded like that. Not ONLY did I get powerslamed into a Friend Zone situation, but I happened to make it worse without realizing it.

Learning from your mistakes is a good and bad thing. It's good as in you know you will never do that again, but bad because its always going to hang over your head. Like a deformed monkey who hung himself becuase they told him Banana's were extinct. I'll tell you what I did later if you still find interest in the blog.

Anyways so I got fired from my first job. There. My second job was a McDonalds and I really wanted to do well at the job. I liked working with the people I was with and it was a fun atmosphere...for two weeks. Seriously, I lasted for two and a half weeks. Up to the time where they were going to fire me I KNEW they were going to fire me. They gave me 1 day and I told everyone that "they are going to fire me." Not only did they do that, but they made me work the short freaking time that I did and tossed me afterwards which still pissed me off till today. I was actually cool about it because around that time I was a cool guy. I was mellow and didn't give a crap. I was awesome.

Anyways, current job sucks. If you ever worked at a grocery store with equipment from the 70's you know exactly how much my job sucks. I also have retarded co-workers who gets way more vagina than I'll ever get. Why? Don't care. Most likely they took my dad's advice and got them drunk first.

After all the rant I'm finally at my current point in the story. Racism still exsists in the south. Badly. Even the people who aren't racist won't do anything about it because they know, "Ohhh they are just being good ol' boys." Well, if being an ignorant redneck who has no clue how the real world work is a good ol' boy then we'd be having a hoe down right about now. I'll bring the banjo.

These two guys I work with are the biggest racist ever. They hate the word black. I have to, of course, grit my teeth and work with what I got. But WAIT that's not the funniest part. We got a black cashier in our store. HORRAY CONTRAVERSY! They get angry because she is always making claims that people are being racist against her and no one in the store happens to like her. They think she is being an idiot and a [deleted racist word] who is being a hypocrite. I haven't talked to her much, but the short time I did she was a nice person to me. That goes well in my book.

These guys were dumb enough to walk around the store while I was with them and call a female shopper a "****** ******! ******!" Fill in the blanks please. I walked so fast wanting no part in that party. I'd quit my job, but I obviously need the money at the moment.

I want to meet the person who says racism doesn't exsist and beat him over the head with 700 copies of "I Have A Dream" until he understands the problem.

It's the color of the character stupid, not of the skin.

I dunno saying Racism doesn't exist is like saying a lot of things from the past don't exist, there's bound to be some left overs but wide scale it's much better.
Or so I like to believe.
I will also say people make many things out to be racist that are not, so that's probably fuel for the people that out and out deny any left overs of racism.

Who the hell thinks racism doesn't exist? That's a ridiculous notion.

Racism is just like the Holocaust: a lie perpetuated by the non-white, non-Christians to undermine our way of life.

It sounds like you just need to learn how to phrase things better.

"This job can suck it" ... or "I'm only here for the paycheck." or "It's a minimum wage fast food job, how much do you think I like it?"

Like racism, it doesn't exist, those people just hate everyone! yeah... something like that =/

I think most people are racist.. But not prejudiced..

What the hell am I talking about? Well lemme clear it up for ya :)

You ask most people, and when they see cops, or the News, (mostly cops) and they see someone of a different race they get a bad view of that race. "Silly white people, damn black people, hey the Japanese figure out another form of porn!" etc etc etc.. We all have our preconcived notions of differen't races..

It's why a black man can't get a cab in NY at night, the same reason you won't see a white guy go into some neighborhoods in LA.. :) It's just how it is.

Now, most people have no problem working with, under, or living next to anyone of any color, as long as that persons a decent upright person who takes care of business. I've worked for several fortune 500 companies and have had dozens and dozens of co-workers of differen't races and nationalities and it was never a problem.. For anyone..

Well, except this one dude wore this weird aftershave from his home country that could make the paint peel, but thats another story :)

Just to be a jerk I'm gonna point out that is prejudice. Judging someone before having a trial of their character based on some initial observation, ie he's black.

People are going to have stereotypes, and are going to make judgements before understanding. But they're probably not going to do it with any malicious intent these days. Except for a few that still have ideals of racism.

Nicely written post number17. I would just like to say that as long ignorance exists then racism will surely persist.
I even find japanophiles to be racist as well, seeing that they are narrow minded when it comes to the notion that all things Japanese are a gem in the Queens crown.
Its something you've got to live with and its always proper to set a good example if you are a minority and you've come across racists.
Once there is clean effective communication between a racist and a minority, then its easier for the racist to see things from the victims point of view and gain a better understanding of the world around him, instead of dwelling on idiotic stereotypes.

Often times people just come off as prejudiced due to their upbringing. On the other hand, how people react to what they hear can come off as prejudiced.

For instance, I was brought up very lax. I know, and am aware of stereotypes, and as such I use them when I talk. I'll make fun of my sister for being a girl, or I'll make fun of my latino friend for being latino. At the same time, my sister will make fun of me for being a boy, and my latino friend will make fun of me for being white. Even in public, I'm very vulgar with my language and I don't really care who listens. If I'm out having a good time, I'm going to say what I want regardless of who it offends. I'm obviously not going to start something, but I'm not going to apologize for what was said. It's a word. And I do understand that words have meanings, but it's not the word that hurts, it's the tone. Yes, those "good ole boys" have preconcieved notions of what that girl is like. Perhaps she's done something to piss them off. I generally use my nastiest words for people I don't like. You calling them racist is yet another preconcieved notion of what those "good ole boys" are like. You aren't sure what they're like. On top of that, not all rednecks are racist, and not all racists are rednecks. That would be (survey says) a preconcieved notion.

Ignorance doesn't necessarily mean racism. Hate might influence racism, or fear. Maybe it's even a hereditary thing. Calling someone a racist is just an excuse, and it may be true, but until you know the person it's not a good thing to call them.

King Kong

Ignorance doesn't necessarily mean racism.

Are you trying to insinuate that racist notions contain truth?

And I do understand that words have meanings, but it's not the word that hurts, it's the tone.

You can't disregard responsibility for the effects words have on people. You may call someone a 2 syllable word, and it may be said in jest, but you have to step into the shoes of the victim and try to see it from their point of view.
The same word that may mean nothing to you, will mean memories of torment for another. This is what I mean by ignorance- or "ignoring" the other side.

No, that's not what he's saying. Stop :stirthepo

He saying some people are geniunely ignorant about other minorities. Which makes sense. Anyone who wants to make it any kind of culturally normal way, must assimilate into the dominate culture. However, if you already belong to the dominate culture, you're not going to know jack shit about other minorities (cause you don't have to!) unless you make a concerted effor to do so.

Of course, imo racism=ignorance every time, but it's not vice versa

Well not everytime, you've got those hard core racist (like 7 of them right?) who know absolutely what they're doing.
I still don't know what being in the KKK has to do with magic though.

If you know “jack shit” about minorities, then you have no place abusing minorities based on “jack shit” knowledge. That is blatant ignorance.

Yeah man. Also, the jews control the world's money supply from a vault 10 miles under the earth's surface. Don't forget the chemtrails! What is our government doing up there?!

Back on topic. Thinking about this thread and some of the replies, it seems like some in joke I'm not aware of. But this really does seem to imply at least one person out there thinks racism doesn't exist.

No doubt some college student who feels the need to argue semantics because they have a philosophy 101 class under their belt.

This post reminds me of Two Racist moments in my life. None of which happened to me I just happen to witness them. Well I’m a 22 year old Black man and I live in South Carolina. I have had racist things happen to me before but I seen worst thing happen to other people. The stories that I'm about to tell you happened when I was about 17. It was during my High School years.

The first time that I witness anything that was remotely racist was when I was in high school. Our wrestling practice had just ended. We all when back to our lockers to take showers and get dressed. My friend (a white Guy) walked to his locker and saw that it had been broken into.. He had left 500 bucks in his locker and now it was going. His face turned Blood Red. It look like he was about to explode. He turn around and said " Who the Hell Broke into my Locker".

We all try to calm him down. He starts staring at people then he yells this out in a Screaming voice "No body does this kind of shit but Black People". He proceeds to go around to every Black person and demand his money back. Then turns to me and saids "Well I know you didn't do it". I was in WTF Mode all that day. In his mind I must be one of the Good Ones. Even after that day he still denies he did anything Racist.

The second on happen after a Marching band Competition Me and 5 friends went to Wendy’s to get something to eat. It was me, 2 Black dudes, 1 white guy, 1 white girl, and a quarter Asian/white guys. We all left our band shirts on except one of our black friends. He took his shirt off a put on a Black shirt and a wave cap. We all ordered our food and decided to eat in the parking lot. The white guy and the white girl double parked there car side ways and the rest of us parked the right way. The quarter Asian friend park a little farther away form us.

The quarter Asian guy turns on his CD player and starts playing some music. He gets out of his car and one of our Black friends sits down in his place. 10 mins later a Police officer rides and sees him in the car and thinks it’s his car. The Police man gets out of his Cruiser and tells him to turn down the music. Our friend does then the Cop tells him "you know I should arrest you for disturbing the piece". Then threatens to give him a 500 dollar fine. But he doesn't and walks away. Now as he turns around he sees the 2 white people double parked with there trash littered all around there van. Then he gets in his Cruiser and drives off.

I was like WTF. He looks at a Black person with a wave cap on and threatened to arrest and fine him for Noise pollution. Then he looks at 2 white kids who were double parked with litter all around there car and does nothing. In South Carolina officers can fine you a maximum of $1,000 or can imprisonment you for one year, or both. I didn't want to them to get fined or be imprisoned but you can’t tell me that wasn't F**ked up.

agreed... that was pretty effed up lol

I only experience racism once... and i didn't even realize it. At the age I was I didn't really understand. I was in elementary school. While I was in the 4th grade one of those specialized schools came to visit the school and singled me out in the class. From then on She would take me out of class at least twice a week to go talk about random stuff. She would get me to draw things and wot not (thinking about it now... i guess it was pretty weird). Any... this went on until the mid year of 5th grade. I was told by her that they wanted to take me out of the elementary school and bring me into their specialized school. I already visited once when I had to do some annoying project - twas very annoying being the only kid in the whole class doing extra work. Anyway... my parents were all up for it and the only other person that needed to agree was the principal...who was white. He declined numerous times (cuz the specialzed school wasn't taking no for an answer). In the end... I didn't get to go. I was the laughing stock of the school (the other kids thought that I was dumped by the specialized school). After I left the elementary school to go to 6th grade, my parents told me that the principal got fired because he was racist. Apparently he had been doing things to black kids for years and the board of education just couldn't prove it. They were apparently keeping an eye on the whole thing and questioned his reason for not letting me go. He gave some stupid reason to the effect of "He didn't want my education to be interrupted by going to another school". So the board of ed. sacked him - and i continued on with my life.

By far, most racism I see around me is anti-semitism. That's vecome quite popular recently. I've only heard a couple of people say anti-black things (while drunk). I grew up in a mostly black neighborhood, and I have to say they weren't too welcoming of white kids. Apparently allowing us to get near will result in lynchings and cops being called and jobs being denied based on race.
