I haven't either.

La Choy is probably some asian company in America, you know, those that are only found in small asian food stores. At least that's what I'm guessing.

For me it doesn't really matter if it's Kikkoman or Yamasa, or hell even Top Valu or Great Value. As long as they are all made by Japanese companies I will have no problem using it.

I love that.

My fiancee doesn't, possibly having something to do with me singing it everytime we see Kikkoman in the store. ;)

I'm just going to vote for Kikkoman. I haven't had the other one before.

I'm going to stick with previous posters: never heard of the other, but I love Kikkoman. ;)

Hahah it's like how me and my friends go MUSHROOM MUSHROOM whenever we eat mushroom pizza and draw stares from anyone else in the room.

We don't... we just say it a couple of times and are done with it.

If we actually got there... I dunno, salami perhaps? :watson:

Probably Kikkoman is better... Although, my parents have ALWAYS cooked with La Choy and my step-dad is an awesome cook!

Which do you prefer?

...I can't even image-google La Choy to see what they look like.

and I love kikkoman's commercial where a tiny boy and an overweight guy are having nabe, and they do rock-paper-scissor to see who gets the first/second/third/etc. pick and the little boy pwns the big guy. :D

The soy sauce we always used in Canada was Pearl River Bridge. I thought it was fine. I don't care where the hell it was made.

I vote Kikkomans, although ive tried both. Also: if you look at the bottle it comes in, in the UK, it says 'Made in Holland under license'. :duh:

I like both, but Kikkoman should be the light one or it's too salty. La Choy is pretty good tho.

La Choy is partially fake soy sauce. They boil partially hydrolyzed proteins in hydrochloric acid.

Kikkoman or San-Jirushi (when it is on sale. I like it the best, it only has 5 ingredients).

and Hane, I would be careful about using that Pearl River if I were you...Chinese stuff's been known for its fakeness too.
like they put bleach-like stuff in tofu to make it look whiter. They put the same stuff in noodles ot make it look whiter too. and recently, there's been testing to show that those colorings are exceeding the daily-intake level considered healthy.

You (or...I) can always trust Japanese stuff.

You know, I had a Korean friend complaining about Chinese imports to South Korea, saying how the packers stuffed the fish with nails or some other metal implement so they could charge more for the weight.

I used to trust all Japanese stuff, but there were a few mislabeling scandals and the Snow Brand thing, so now ... I'll buy what's cheap and not disgusting. :)

They have La Choy right next to Kikoman in the large grocery stores I go to in Florida, Publix (for those in the Southeast) and Target. It is interesting how other people have never heard of it.

Here's something interesting. Apparently this La Choy stuff is, well, not soy sauce. It's a bunch of stuff designed to taste like soy sauce.

can someone get me a picture of La Choy?
whenever I read the title, I think it's saying
"spicy vegetables" because I'm reading it cantonese way.

image-googling didn't work for me...

La Choy is getting owned.

Does La Choy have its own zany flash animation?
Nope.

It's no wonder why Kikkoman destroys all foreign sauces. It even kills bacteria!

In terms of soy sauce, Kikkoman is far superior.

In terms of bottled teriyaki, however, I will have to say that La Choy is better. Kikkoman's is too salty, saltier than the soy.
