What is the best positive news you have read lately?

So in another thread it was mentioned how overly negative a lot of news is these days. There is only so much I am willing to read, watch, or listen to a story about a bombing, the next war, corruption etc... It just gets too old. There are other, just as note-worthy things going on in the world that arn't being mentioned. People are creating cures for diseases, building homes for the needy, discovering unknown breeds of dinosaurs.

So I ask, what is the best positive news you've read lately and why? I myself came across this story (http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/internet/04/17/paper.clip.to.house.ap/index.html) of a twenty six year old man traveling across america and canada to barter with others in an attempt to meet a goal he set for himself. It really is inspiring, that he could achieve that goal without a huge monetary investment on his end. I mean sure he has probably bought a few plane tickets and such, but compared to what one normally goes through, that is nothing.

I read recently that they might be building another light rail line in my home city. Finally, expansion of decent public transportation. With people into cleaner alternatives, the world might not be dying after all! :D

Eh, not where I come from. My local news channel (at home, not in Japan where I am now) seems to love reporting about death. People die in fire, somebody shot by stray bullet, teen steals a car and is killed when the dumbass crashes it, more fires, another kleptomaniac teen dies after crashing a stolen car, more shootings, people beat their kids to death, etc. Oh, and the "Missing Kid Du Jour."

Well, actually, I heard Muse is coming out with a new album as well in July, and that was good news to me too! :dj:

I don't think I've heard, seen or read that much good news lately. Whenever I watch the news, which is frequently, it's always about the Iraq war, or something recently in Afghanistan, or how the channel at Aden, Yemen, that leads onto the Red Sea can be easily blockaded so as to stop oil from the Middle East getting out of there by container ship, or the recent kickbacks being paid to Iraq by the Australian Wheat Board, or car crashes and holiday road tolls, or some other unhappy, sad or bad event.
