I know everybody here has those days where they just need some good tunes. This thread is a dedication to them.

For starters im gonna mention 3 albums. You can name songs. But im saying albums because they are(to me) masterpieces. They are rap, but i will be back with my favorate rock/blues/jazz/r&b/soul ect... albums later but.. the 1st is...

Outkast-Atliens
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0000013GT.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

IMO, greatest rap album of all time. This was the 1st album i could play front to back without skipping. Real deep stuff here. Track 8. Babylon(in my sig) was the song that made me wanna persue a rap career. So this album is #1 to me.

#2 Pastor Troy-Face Off

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005J9U8.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

This album here. Well...dont play this shit when you are pissed off. Matter of fact do. I promote chaos, therefore if i can give a word to describe this album. Ignorance. This is Crunk music before 2001. Before Lil Jon and All that other shit.

#3

Underground Kingz-Ridin Dirty.

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00000053Q.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

This is what i describe as...Cadillac Music. Alot of samples from Isley Brothers, Curtis Mayfield and bootsy collins. Great album if you wanna be a cocky bastard.

How bout yall?

Hmmm... When I'm feeling humorous or light-hearted I play Bloodhound Gang, either Hooray for Boobies or One Fierce Beer Coaster or a Barenaked Ladies CD. Good stuff, fun stuff.

Other times recently I've been finding Black Eyed Peas (elephunk and Monkey Business) or Jack Johnson's In Between Days a nice diversion from the world.

On my drab down days I chill out to Leonard Cohen (Best of Album really does work here), Nick Cave's Let Love In or some VAST. Strangely enough Outkast also gets a play. I like most of their albums, but never really given Atlianz a chance, but will now.

Angry days call for Angry stuff. I bust out Hip Hop here.

Nas is always a winner. I like Illmatic, Streets Disciple and Gods Son. If I'm really really raging, Eminem gets a look in. Or Doctor Dre's The Chronic. Wu Tang's 36 Chambers as been popping up more and more.

Also occasionally listen to Hip Hop for non-anger management. Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, again Nas (I LOVE Nas, pretty much the best CD's I bought last year) and a few others.

Hmmm probably lots more. But with 30gB's of music you lose track.

I want to conquer the world - Bad Religion (Seems to fit me perfectly.)

Devil's Dance Floor - Flogging Molly (Just a happy little song.)

Amish Paradise (preferebly with clip) - Weird Al Yankovich (Hilarious. ^_^)

Anything by Hitoshi Sakimoto or Masashi Hamauzu puts me in a good mood. Especially tracks from Vagrant Story and Unlimited Saga/Saga Frontier II, respectively.

Ode to Joy - Beethoven (European Union's anthem and I like it. Shut up.)

Nothing wrong with a little classical music every now and then. IF i can recommend the following: O suave fanciulla, by Maria Callas from La Boheme. I'm not big on classical music, but i can appreciate this piece a lot

And when I'm happy/hyper, I usually bust out some Morning Musume (part. Happy Summer Wedding). They suck, I know.

If I really need to relax or focus, I'll pop in some Bach. Anything from him will usually do. I listened to Moonlight Sonata way too much in my younger days, so I've developed a slight aversion to it.

MeenerDijk mentioned Maria Callas. I sometimes listen to her rendition of Habanera from Carmen. Pretty song and a classic.

I also like many game soundtracks, like Vagrant Story's and Xenogear's. Both have very different uses, but they do the job right.

This one is a bit obscure, but I like the music of Bushido Blade, and old Playstation samurai game. Very unique music.

Greenday's Give Me Novacaine;
Linkin Park's Breaking the Habit and Papercut;

Akeboshi's Wind (Naruto OST 1);

My music choice is so varied. I listen to everything except for country. Depends on what I'm feelin on that day.

Good mood stuff:
Common- Be (just became a huge fan of Common, the man is slick yo)
Heiroglyphics-Full Circle
Siam Shade-pretty much any song since I have all their stuff
Some Van Halen stuff, some Foo Fighters, some Incubus, Luna Sea, Kick the Can Crew, the Gitaroo Man soundtrack, and the list goes on...

Bad mood/stress relief stuff:
Nas-God's Son, Illmatic
Wu Tang-Enter the 36th Chamber
Any DMX stuff
Metallica
Megadeth
and I have a bunch of other stuff I can't remember. I just put mostly varied mp3's on cd to work out to/relieve stress, not whole albums.

I listen to music everyday, I guess I just need something in the background.

Some music I listen to a lot:

Red Hot Chili Peppers- If there's any specific songs, it'd be This Velvet Glove, Warm Tape, and several others. As long as it isn't crap like Universally Speaking.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers- basically anything on the Echo album (the only one I have at the moment).

The Clash- Songs like Lost in the Supermarket and (White Man) in Hammersmith Palais make my day.

Reel Big Fish- Almost anything on the Cheer Up! album and songs like Beer and Victory Over Peter Bones.

The Offspring- songs like I Choose and Gotta Get Away are great.

That's just to name a few.

Word I feel you on this list. Most young catz cant even appreciate the talent on this list and you get bonus points for Teena Marie. As for me it all depends on the mood I’m in.

If I’m in the lounging in the poet spot in playing chess mood then its:
Miles Davis - Sketches of Spain
Jurassic 5
Ozomatli
Sade
Jill Scott
Erkah Badu

If I’m just waking up in the morning nothing beats Roots reggae ( Bob Marley, Bres Hammond , ect ect ect) that’s the half Jamaican me screaming Babylon lol

Chilin with the homiez on some Bulidin tip:
Tribe called quest
Gangstar
Epmd
Big daddy kane
Early Nas + street disciple
Early De la soul
Early common ( yeah it seems a lot of my heroes are trippin lately)
or just about any Pre 1998 conscious groups ( too many to list)

Snuggling up with a honey:
Angie stone
Floetry
Early Mary j
Jodeci
Barry white and Luther vandross ( yea it works wonders)
or just about any one who sings from their soul and not to make a buck or see a thong

And for those long 18 hours drives from Ga to Ct:
Rave/techno music, DDr and anime soundtracks keeps a bro amped the whole drive.

But really I’m open to all music tho. I been a Dj for a long time ( radio, party, producer, turntablist) and I got a lot of interest in a lot of things.
