... or was it Merry Christmas? I forget which one this is. Well not really but anyhow... I hope anybody celebrating it gets lots of bunny/egg shaped chocolate!
:bunny:
I wonder why bunnies and eggs are eastery things. They really have nothing to do with the religious holiday. Even less so than Santa Claus and Christmas when you think about it. (cause the wise men gave Jesus stuff and Santa is Saint Nicolas who gave toys to kids one day every year)
Anyone doing anything interesting today? I'm just going to my grandparents for lunch, and my b-day is tomorrow so I get cake :birthday: and a song today. Yay. :D We used to do easter egg hunts in the back yard when I was little but all the kids in the family grew up since then, or they're celebrating easter elsewhere.
Slept in, got up, pissfarted around in front of the telly, ate easter eggs.
Wonderful holiday.

Wish I was 21 so I could have an Easter beer hunt, haha. Just went over my aunts house for a family lunch thing, had an easter egg hunt, only got like 4 dollars, one of my cousins got both of the eggs with 20 bucks in them, haha. Back to school tomorrow....

Went to Church and then had lunch at this really good Chinese place. Then I slept the rest of the day away because my computer still doesn't work.

I had to go to work. 7am-3:30pm
I work for the hardware recieve call and dispatch call center for IBM. We manage the entire easteren seaboard and the south. People call us for one of two reasons.
1. To place a service call b/c their machine is broken
2. To check up on the progress of their prieviously placed service call.
Engineers (we call CE's) also call us for various things. Looking for new calls, old calls, msgs, to be transfered..we're basically their babysite--I mean "secretaries".
So it's like, Easter. On the weekends we work from what we call "scratchpads" these sp's hold all the info about what ce's are working that weekend. Since most ce's do not work weekends.
It's like this
Sunday 8am-9pm
Large System Machines: tC18 (the ce's go by "territories")
So all day sunday during my 8-3:30, C18 will be taking ALL Large System calls.
Simple..
So how come mr. C18 says he's NT (not trained) on THREE of these calls!? I'm like "what the hell are you tr (trained) on then?!"
When a CE says s/he can't handle a call, for whatever reason (in fact one of the reasons I heard was "I've got stuff to do for Easter". Gee. I wish *I* could stop working cause I've got holiday stuff), we have to do a DC (directed call out).
This means we have call the people who would work on these machines during the regular week. Meaning, we call people ON THEIR OFF DAY to ask to them to come in and work! What's even worse, is that this is EASTER!!!! Do you think anyone's going to come out? NO! And of course, when I start the DC, either I get no one on the phone -or- they just say "no." And there's nothing I can do about that.
No after we call these people, usually about 3 or 4 people who have a pager, cell, and home # that we have to call, we're supposed to hand the call over the National Duty Managers (NDMs) to handle. They're supposed to say "Ok. I'll take care of it."
But do they? NO.
They tell us to go down the tr list. Which on average contains at least 12 peoeple (or more!). So now we have to call 12 more ppl at 3 phone numbers each.
Forget that other calls might be coming that need to be assigned to other egineers or that people might be waiting on the phones...no. Now we have to dial (at least! and I do mean least) 36 phone numbers.
And this guy! C18, does this THREE TIMES!!! ON EASTER!
Then we're supposed to call the TL (team lead or assistant manager) to ask them for guidence. Most often they just give us MORE people to call and then tell us to call the team manager if we can't get anyone. Which inevitably happens and then, finally, after an hour of calling and getting no one, the NDMs finally handles it.
NO ONE but us does the job we're supposed to. Everyone can put thier responsibilities on us and we have absolutely no recourse. We can't say "no" and are advised to apologize even when we aren't wrong! They blame us for everything that might've gone wrong, even if they could've stopped it! We get shit on by everyone. I'm sick of it! $12 an hour just isn't enough for all the bullshit we have to put up with.
We're at the gotdamn bottom of the hill and you know what rolls down hill.
And I haven't even mentioned the customers that can't understand english. No, no they're not forgien or anything. They're just dumbasses.
Like this one guy was upset b/c the part that was delievered to his house was delayed b/c it got delievered to the wrong address. I tell him, i'll put a note on the call with the correct address and delivery instructions.
He's fine with that. However, he wants service TODAY.
I tell him I'll let the CE know about this and the delivery mishap. I'll also put a note on the call to have the CE call him A.S.A.P.!! The CE will call him back and they can discuss having the parts to be re-delievered and an eta for service today.
This seems reasonable, right?
His response?
"I don't understand." :duh: :duh: :duh:
I repeat myself.
"I don't get it," he replies.
WTF IS THERE NOT TO GET?! He decides he wants to speak to an NDM. I say, "sure, but it make take up to 2 minutes or more to hold for one." He agrees. Then hangs up before the NDM can pick up.
My job makes my acid reflux, that I'd even forgotten I have, flair up. Oh and dear God, don't ask for a day off. Yes, I only work fri-sun, but I go to school mon-thurs. I'm up 7 days a week, NOT A DAY OFF.
real convo with my manager
me: I'll need a weekend 4 weeks from now in order to complete my finals.
her: but you just took a whole weekend off 5 weeks ago. You only work the weekends, anyway.
As if that magically changes things.
Oh and then I ask her about working full time once school is out. She acts like I missed that chance once I started working part time and I can never, never, ever, ever, ever go back.
This chick keeps telling us 'be professional". How about this bitch told one my co-workers, her subordinate that she was going to fire one of us. She told my co-worker the name! How fucking professional is that?
At work, where whole hours can pass without ANY work at all needing to be done or any calls coming in, we cannot:
listen to music
read a book
talk to each other on the phone
use the internet
talk to our aim buddies through our in-house aim intergrated chat program.
They monitor EVERYTHING you do on the phone, on the computer, and all of your breaks. Every minute must be accounted for. We under the tightest and brightest of microscopes.
Oh, but according to my manager I'm one of the best, most reliable there.
But how much can that count for? It just means I'm the first in line at the bottom of the hill. And you know what rolls down hill.
After that, I went to my cousin's house for Easter dinner. Everyone was nice and the food was good. At home I had a lovely chat with my father about my lack of agressiveness in learning how to drive. Because I don't sneak in a lesson any where and every where I can, I (obviously) don't care. Being busy with school and work are NO excuse! And waiting till I'm done with school in 3 weeks, so I devote all my time to driving is just a procrastination tactic. Even if I say it isn't, it is--so he says. And that if I'm too busy to learn, he's too busy to take me anywhere.
Then went to go see Inside Man (again :D) with my b/f and had a great time
