I have a long-term relationship with e-bay.

We have been on and off again with passion only known to those who make Mt. Vesuvius & sex analogies.

When it's good, it's absolute bliss and when it's bad, it's overdraft fees.

Luckily, I have learned to say when. I've been able to cut back the items on my "watch" list and with a little disciplene, the overdraft fees have stopped.

However, now that I have a $12 an hour job and no bills, I don't have to worry about ANY of that shit now (but I do keep it down)!

This week's expidentures $44.93:
Three (http://i16.ebayimg.com/02/i/04/74/90/08_1_b.JPG) pairs (http://instyleboutique.com/images/earbighoopsilver.jpg) of earrings (http://www.ssb3.net/members/watch/enlarge.php?aid=&img=15775/c33134ol_1.jpg)
One beautiful purple and gold tunic (http://i18.ebayimg.com/04/i/04/be/39/6d_1_b.JPG)
And an Ein plushie for my b/f. (http://images.andale.com/f2/125/114/17762866/1097827041885_cobepluah_6007.jpg)

I know two guys that exploit some of ebays "weaknesses".

When one of them would post something to auction on ebay the other friend bids on it not even wanting the damn thing. Then some random person who really is interested on that item would bid on it, after that, the friend would bid again thus, raising the price.

The process is repeated until the person who is interested pays the highest amount of money he/she is willing to pay or if they give up then it's no biggie because the friend who was bidding wouldn't have to purchase it considering he was only bidding to help his friend out. Hehe.

lol.

You can't be serious? This is like one of the basics. I know your not serious

PS: Why did you steal the same colors I use for my sig!? I was the first to use red and royal blue..... In bold... :p

Tssss..

actually, that won't always work. there is this hijacker company that will automatically outbid everyone with five seconds left.

that sucks.

and besides that, what your friends are doing is against the rules and when they catch on they'll get banned.

I never heard of that company. Sounds pretty cool actually.

I've been buying stuff on ebay for a few years - mostly comic books, but I've bought a couple of printers and a couple of board games for my brother since he didn't want to register for ebay. Most of my experiences have been pretty good. There have only been 2 times when I didn't get the product I won and I got most of my money back. There have been a few times I wasn't that happy with the condition of the books, but usually they were as described or lacked a description of the condition and I didn't have to pay much.

I've tried selling items on ebay a few times. I sold several lots of paperback books and did fairly well. The two large items I put up did not sell on ebay, but attracted interested parties who sent me emails and the items sold anyway, off ebay.

That happens all the time on ebay. I'm an ebay whore and I always bid low and in weird numbers( $43.23) so as to avoid that crap. I try to wait 'till the last minute to bid as well.

Also there are a lot of companies now that'll do the last minute bid for you. They've been around for awhile now.

You know what i say to ebay?

F IT!!

I've never won using the last minute bidding method.. and uhm.. yah ive only won like 1 thing.. and i dont think anyone could have fit in that dress anyway, seeing that it bearly fit me. Hum.. usually ill buy stuff that is on BUY NOW or whatever.. otherwise.. if i see a auction.. ill just say F it.. ill buy it for like $10 more at the store.

Bidded only once in Ebay. Although I liked a lot of shit in there, my $8/hour isn't worth all of it. Personally my money = saved for a greater good.

And I'm not spending left and right either. Just some stuff I desire, otherwise, my cash is saved.

I bought a mint condition Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for DC using E-bay. While I guess this is nothing so amazing, both these games became VERY hard to find. At least here.

I was so happy when I got them. So E-bay is alright. There is the whole game to bidding... and I hate bidding. So whenever I can I usually just use the Buy Now option.

I bought poker chips off ebay. Good price. Shipping costs more than the item :(

Chips were nice, the case that came with it was too flimsy though. So I bought a better case off ebay :D It was more sturdy.

I am happy with my ebay experience. But with all the hype about fraud and stuff on ebay, I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to buy more expensive stuff like digital cameras. Some are pretty cheap, but then I ask myself..why would anyone sell a $300 carmera for $50?

always, always, always carefully read the description and look at the seller's rating! This should save you any potential headache.

Ya, I do that. I must admit I've laughed at some of the buyers who bought auctions who's seller sneakly added "You are only buying the picture of the product, not the product itself" at the bottom. So I've learned from other's mistakes.

But I don't really know about ratings. Because I've read through a few seller's ratings. and on average almost everyone has alot of postives and a few negatives. So you'd think that the person is ok. But then what about the negatives? A few people have had some bad exerpencies with this seller. They must have done something wrong.

Like the guy who I bought the chips from had over 5000 positive ratings, but a couple hundred negatives. I read through most of them and I get conflicting reviews. Some say his chips are good, Some say they suck. I dunno what to believe. But since he had more goods than bads, I ordered them.

I guess I should've expected what I got since there were a few negatives. Chips were good, case sucked. But it wasn't that expensive so I didn't mind.

But with ebay, the buyers are the ones that have to preform the leap of faith. It is always money first than product.

Ebay pissed me the hell off last week. I changed (or so I thought!) my debit card on eBay to a new debit card, but apparently something didn't get saved, and so only paypal got switched to my new debit card. So, I then went on eBay to put some of my old clothes on auction. I had a box of out-dated clothes that I don't wear anymore, and the sellers fees ended up being like, $1.20 or something like that. . .but I had no money in my old debit card, and fucking eBay fucked up all my shit and I overdrafted on my old account. So, for my $1.20 sellers fee, I ended up paying my bank $35 in overdraft charges. Fuck that! And I called eBay to complain, and they acted like it was my fault and the bitch I talked to on the phone sucked. I hate her and I now hate eBay. And I hate my bank as well.

I buy all kinda stuff on Ebay,

Mp3 Player
Box of 200 Livestrong Bands, (I made about 5 times what i bought it for by selling them to friends)
Microphone for my computer
Fridge (mini one for my room)

Most of the other stuff i buy is like random or purely spur of the moment items.

Ebay as a whole scares me due to my inherrant need to barter for a good price (I was a god playing Tradewars). But I still find myself playing with half.com which to my understanding is currently owned by ebay.

Most I've ever spent was $50 getting a wedding gift for a friend. Got as many paperback copies of Piers Anthony books that she didn't already own (she had a freakishly large collection as is). She damned near freaked when she found out that she had 32 books coming to her within the next 2 weeks. I think it was her favorite wedding gift.
