View Full Version : Following in Az's footsteps
I don't know about all y'all, but even before I learned of Az's site, I wanted to teach English as a second language. I thought I'd start off with japan, thinking I could begin with an American friendly country.
So, how many of you also want to teach english somewhere, and perhaps follow in Az's large black footsteps?

I'm considering it. When (or if) I get my degree, I think I'd probably have no idea what to do with my life, so a year or so overseas should be a nice experience.

I don't know what it'd take but I really want to be able to teach English in Japan, at like a High School level as a permenant teacher, not just a helper.
Agreed H2orowe. I'd rather not have my virginal ass reamed with fingers, thus high school seems the only way avoid that. I don't really want to be a helper either, and I actually want to teach someone english. Teach them how to USE it, not just how to SAY it.

Me too, I'd care less about Kancho (I don't want to get ass raped, but you get what you're dealt with.) but I just want to be a real teacher.

After reading Az's editorials, I have decided that I want to take part in JET program after my graduation.
I wonder whether Az or Pierrot knows any JET participants from Asian countries like Malaysia and Singapore, and whether they have a difficult time there.

JET, as we know it at least, does not exist outside of Japan. The "J" stands for "Japan", after all. I also want to teach English in Japan after getting my degree.

Unless he meant "from" as in the Jet participant is from one of those asian countries, and "there" as in Japan.
Shooting around to the other side of the world and aiding in english instruction (or lack thereof)? That's been my plan for a few years now, and I've got about a year and a half until fruition.
Nice, Cnagy. I hope everything pans out for you
