It's early April and this waiting game to find out if I have been accepted or not is torture. I wonder when we will know the outcome. I am just studying Japanese and reading the Handbook (http://www.jetprogramme.org/e/current/General%20Information%20HandBook.pdf) to pass the time. For you guys accepted last year, when did you find out?
Just in case, Aeon/Amity interview is tomorrow. Who else is waiting to hear from JET?
I had a NOVA interview because I really would have sold my soul to get to Japan. I waited until the last day that they wanted a reply as to whether I would accept or not, and then called the Japanese consulate directly to just bloody ask. Mid april ish, I think it was.

I don't remember the exact day, but I remember it was three days before the end of when they said the results would be coming.

No, I was in Columbus Ohio. I somewhat expected the result after giving my lesson plan... some people I was up against had already done JET for 3 years or actually been a teacher, whereas I have no teaching experience. Here's to waiting for JET...:box:

I just got the email, I got selected as an alternate. Does anyone know the chances of getting in if your an alternate? Ahh, I thought I would finally know for sure, but now I have to wait months more, lame, but at least it wasn't a no.

Yeah, for JET. I interviewed in San Francisco, so maybe your consulate will email later or something.

Yeah... I guess it would still be working hours when you received it over there. Here, it's 8:30pm... so here's to hoping I hear from them by tomorrow.

Still haven't heard anything... maybe they're just sending out the alternate emails now...
To give a spark of hope, I bombed my interview completely and was consigned to a life as a NOVA slave when I got accepted ...

Not exactly waiting for JET, but there's a slight chance of going to Japan this summer, I've already got some money saved and I'm gonna visit my cousin, who is working for Nissan right now. Funny though, his wife (japanese) is expecting a baby, so out of consideration I'm planning stay in a hotel (Youth hostel, most likely). Needless to say that the conversation was interesting.
Him: A hotel? Why are you gonna spend that much money for that, why don't you stay here?
Me: I wish I could, but isn't your wife expecting a baby?
Him: Come on, there's plenty of room here!
Me:... I've seen the pictures of your apartment. No is not
Him: Ok, ok. But at least you'll stop by to eat here, right?
Me: Only if you let me help you wash the dishes
If I go, I think I'll see the little kid once he's born.

So I finally got around to reading through those essays. Interesting. My guess would be Male, Rural, Single, and Black.
The Rural one threw me because I never thought of AZ as in the hicks somewhere... especially since I associate Ghetto with Inner City....
The essays are actually a great source of information....exceeded my expectations... not just Az' either...

Okay, I feel dumb. Tomorrow I will have to send in my reply form (3-day air) because I thought I had to do the certificate of health. Well, I guess I have one for when they need it. Should I just send it now?
I hope they don't accept people in the order they receive the replies...
