Well its been 7 days since i arrived in Japan, and this time im viewing things from a students point of view. Right now the students are on vacation for Spring and let me tell you this im scared.

I mean i walk down the street in the city im in and BOOM kids in Uniforms during there FN holidays! I know they might be going to their clubs n extra classes, but this was like the first day of freaking holidays!

Guess what though ive got a teacher just like mrs Americanized. Apart from the swearing but damn she is close.

We were talking before i met the principal.
Her: You like sport?
Me: Yep, Rugby, Basketball, n i like watching K-1.
Her: OOO OO k-1 and Pride i watch them all thime *Does fighting stance*
Me: Really? do you like it?
Her: If i were a boy a i would be in it, i wanna beat up people, i think it would be fun.
Me: Oook
Her: *evil grin*

It was pretty cool though.

Also Karoke with Japanese people rock, they sing american songs and have no idea what they just song. Like one guy sang pretty fly for a white guy and at the end he was like `Is that how gangs act in Australia` i just couldnt answer him.

I havent even started my 3 month exchange in the school and im already scared.

Peace out and toasted mornings
Urban

Just wait till you go eat Yakiniku with some of your friends, get drunk, and throw up outside of a convenience store...

Ah, the memories of exchangestudent-ism.

Are you in High School or College? I'm assuming high school, so if you are, do you have to wear the uniform? I had to, and although it was fun, I thought it kindof made me stand out more, which is the opposite of what it was supposed to do. Are you getting credit for doing it to? Like, for graduation and stuff?

:dj: Nup, not getting credit, since it wasnt through my school in Australia.

Anyways yeh i have to wear a pretty normal uniform, but its pretty western style IMO.

Also i just saw a Cadalac(Sp?) in the middle of an apartment building parking lot, out of the calls to see a saw a Cadalac Suburban.

Also they just released s a new kind of pepsi called Pepsi Nex. It pretty tasteless.

And i want to find a shirt that says ``i can understand more then Hello and Fuck`` cause i swear thats all the population says to me.

I beat some kid in Tekken at the arcade. Im sure he died from teh loss to a white kid. Specially since i didnt really know how to play.

PEace out.

Yeah, that stuff's like the green tea of diet soda. It doesn't taste bad, it simply doesn't TASTE. However, unlike green tea, there's no real health benefits. ¥100 and done.

Thats awesome.

I wore 3 different uniforms for each time I was an exchange student.
First one was a blazer at an allllllll girls school.
Second was a polo shirt and skirt.
Third was the dreaded sailors uniform. They're so uncomfortable.

What kind do you have to wear? Where is you school, actually?
Do you have to walk to school?
My first school, I had a 20 min. walk, an hour BOAT ride, then another 20 min. walk... Sigh...

My second school I was about 5 min. away, but, my last school was a 5 min. drive to the station, 10 min. train, then an HOUR WALK!!! In the BLAZING HEAT!

I lost so much weight, it wasn't even funny.

Odds are later on they will take you on tours of schools in the area (assuming you're not directly in the city) which means that you'll be a f*ckin celebrity in the schools that you go to.

I signed AUTOGRAPHS when I went. It's really weird...

Do you have a host family? How are they? Any rules???

Sorry if I'm annoying, but there aren't many other high school exchange students to chat with nowadays... lool...

I HATE that. Everyone wants a signature! And if I give one out, then the other 119 students in the grade want one. You know how tired that makes my hand?

that's why you photocopy it beforehand.
I used to have a signature of some big sumo wrestler... when we were studying footprints and handprints.

Urban Ninja, its not too uncommon for a woman to enjoy MMA. Most Women grew up with Joshi Puroresu (women's pro-wrestling) when it was really ultra-popular, so graduating up to MMA isn't a huge leap.

Hey Urban Ninja, I'm from Australia too.

I was thinking of going on exchange after yr12 and was just curious, how much of the Japanese language do you need to grasp before going on exchange?

Because I don't speak a word or Japanese besides the few words that everyone seems to know and spout in every sentence between english words.

Ok, Well today was pretty mad, i went to my Schools Baseball match they got through 4 of the 6 rounds but lost today, they did nicely though in the 9 innings they got 1 home.....wait thats realllly bad.

I bought some new headphones cause my ipods are starting to die. I also enjoy Grape Fanta it rocks.

To Neko in order of your questionssss.
1)Im wearing Grey pants, White shirt (Button up but your allowed to roll up your sleeves during class), black shoes, white socks, blazer, not hats or anything like that.

2)I have to walk for 15 minutes then take a 30minute-40minute train ride and then walk another 10 minutes. So long but excersise is good i guess.

3)Im in Kagoshima precture, Kagoshima City, its pretty cool, everyone ive met so far are nice, so thats a plus.

4) i did a tour of the school. They all waved through the windows...yelling yep ``Hello`` But i think they like me...cause they said the last 3 were pretty mixed, the 1st was a really studious girl who didnt really act very social. The 2nd was a Guy who was studious and social but didnt do alot of school activities. and the 3rd was a let down who didnt study, skipped classes and tried to hook in with nearly every girl so no matter what im not the worst...unless i do hook in...ehehehehe.

To Steve:
You`ll want to do atlease 2 years of Japanese, and atleast ready Hiragana and Some Katakana, it will help you alot. Make sure you know how to ask for directions, prices, and a self introductions along with greettings should be a nice ground point, some kids on the exchange know less then that but i would recomment that as a min.

Im impressed a thread of mine has lasted on the 1st page for longer then 2 hours.....im so happy.

Also homesickness, how do i overcome it. Im not overly homesick just enough to put me down when im not doing things to keep my mind off it. (i.e Bed, Eating, Walking)

Also is it rude to walk n drink, cause i havent been just incase but damn im thirsty alot.

Anyways times up in 15 min and i got emails to reply to. Catch tomorrow or the next day.

I know about this pretty well, I think. When I lived there for foreign exchange, the first two days were somewhat of a downer. I realized the best remedy for it is just to go out and get something done. I dunno what that means for you, but any sort of activity--going to a bar, club, sports game, even simple sightseeing. Take some time to make a few friends and just go out and try to have fun. Homesickness should wear off quicker than you think it will.

Yeah im already feeling better now that i bought a discman to listen to CD`s i buy and a new hat....i dunno why i bought it just seemed like somethnig that i wouldnt find back in Australia.

I think its because i have no host siblings in my current host family so i dont have anyone who can take me out to see places, so exploring is keeping me some what busy i guess.
