Just heard about this. I'm not sure where Jay is from, but I do know it is Australia.

Hope you are okay man.
Okay, I just drew up a quick reference to show my position in relation to this cyclone:

So unless this cyclone decides to travel around the far north of Australia and down the west coast (which has happened), I'll Be fine. I do have family up that way though, Townsville to be exact.
Thanks for your concern though mate. That's one hell of a cyclone. :boggled:

Well, I hope your family's fine.
They'll probably just get the intense backwash of storms and flooding that comes from a cyclone. Should be able to see it through.

I hope you're going to be ok Pooksikins and that everyone else in the path will be ok too.
That thing looks scary :worried:
Personally I'd love to be in the middle of a 300km/h cyclone, but I'm a sadomasochist with anarchical tendencies, so I guess my opinion doesn't really count here... :meh:

Yes it is. Townsville is also the largest city and capital of tropical Queensland and is on the north-eastern coast of Australia. This is what a google search turned up anyway. Hope everyone from Australia is alright.
It's the largest city in the northern half of Queensland, I think. But Brisbane is the largest city in all of Queensland.

Google lied.
Google super lied. Google got your dad drunk, kicked your younger sister, molested your mother and lied about all that too.
Townseville is A city in far north Queensland. Its not the biggest. Cairns is by far. Townseville is tiny in comparison.
and its not the capital of squat. Brisbane is the capital of QLD. Cairns, Toowoomba, Logan, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Warwick, Rockhampton and a few others are all bigger than Townseville.
God knows what google told you
Okay, so in that case, what's the population comaprison between Cairns and Townsville?

pooka i got most of my info from wiki. here's the link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Townsville,_Queensland
i got the link from a google search.
I read Wiki too. Wiki can be a rather unreliable source, but it says that Townsville has upwards of 160,000 people, while Cairns is only pushing 130,000.

Townsville has Bubbles, she can speak squirrel. Therefore it pwns Cairns.

Weird.
As far as East Coasters go, Cairns is far and away the 'capital' of far north queensland, population or no.
Its a tourist hub, business hub, attraction hub, industry hub etc.
Townseville has always been considered hicksville. First I (or my friends from QLD) have heard this 'capital' nonsense.
