I really am sorry if this has been posted before...

POLLSTERS RECKON that there’s no better "brand" than Britain when it comes to being a country.

But despite being reckoned the top place to invest or to visit or indeed to emigrate to, Britain’s notional value in terms of pounds, shillings and cents is less than that of the USA, Japan or Germany. The value of Brand USA is reckoned at $18 trillion whereas Brand UK is in 4th spot in the brand value league table, pinned at $3.5 trillion (£2 trillion).

The Anholt Nation Brands Index (NBI) is complied on results of an Internet survey of some 25,907 people in 35 countries. Tina Louise, European marketing director, for Global Market Insite, Inc, reckons Internet-based research means "we can now collect and measure global opinions about people and places incredibly quickly and accurately." So, evidently if you’re not online your opinions don’t count.

Aside from evaluating the countries in terms of investment or culture, respondents were also asked to assess the inhabitants of the various countries. According to this assessment, UK citizens are considered to be the most polite, most boring and best educated, while the French are seen as the rudest and Americans are the most ignorant and most ambitious.

Here’s the top ten:

1. UK
2. Switzerland
3. Canada
4. Italy
5. Sweden
6. Germany
7. Japan
8. France
9. Australia
10. United States

And here’s the Link to http://www.nationbrandindex.com

:uk: :D I was really shocked about 'Best Educated'.

Wow, Switzerland? Weird, If I was asked to name the countries I thought were the best off the top of my head I would have never ever mentioned Switzerland. Not that I have anything against them... I just seem to forget they are there.

Self employed capital of the world. And also houses some of the biggest companies on the planet, lenient laws and a great economy.

*looks out the window at Texas...* Wow, the US got into the top ten? How the hell did that happen? J/K I <3 the USA :P
Seriously though, ignorant and ambitious? I guess I can see that for some of us, but not all.
Personally, I've always wanted to live in the UK and I know lots of people that would like to either live there or visit also, so it doesn't surprise me that it's number 1.

How could they? when they're around in the backyards of our homes, in Canada.
I'd have picked Australia over canada BTW, I dunno know much about education, althought it seems elementary school education wise, Canada is better, but other than that there isn't a huge difference. Just the wonderful wonderful weather in certain parts of Australia, but then again you can say the same for BC.

Heh, I'm from Minnesota. Something like 95% of my fellow statespeople have ancestors from Sweden, Norway, or Germany. The nordic cultures are well celebrated here :D

....on the other hand, I know your pain. Someone from New Orleans once asked me if I lived in an igloo.

British = "polite" = :rofl:
Evidently they have not been to London. Not that I think British folk are rude. Just, most British people I've met just seem extremely candid. I'm not sure how to describe it acurately. meh.
I would have pegged Japan for the politeness bit.

That's just one city in the entire collection of 4 countries. (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland), the rest of UK think that Londoners are unpolite. But its still not to say the entire 'Kingdom' should be crowned with the same tar.

I'd say the more north you get from London, the more polite it becomes! :watson:

I do get what you're saying, but damnit, exclude the Dons' and you have a literal 100%* Polite country.

*obviously not accurate!
